Villa in Carvoeiro, Western Algarve, Portugal - 5 min from beach
- English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Finnish
We are a family who have owned this property for more than 30 years and have spent all our family holidays here over the years. Carvoeiro has maintained its charm as a lovely village with great restaurants and little boutiques. We love walking to the beach, having a swim and some fresh seafood for lunch before heading back for sun-downers by the pool. The area has over 10 beaches to explore so we never get bored.
Owner purchased this Villa in 1975
Why Owner chose Carvoeiro
We bought the house because it has both sea view as well as mountain views to the rear. It has a lovely mature garden with pine trees and their wonderful scent. It has been lovingly cared for and refurbished by us and we hope you will fall in love with it like we did.

The villa itself is lovely, it is spacious and well positioned to visit the beaches and towns of the Algarve. The gardens well kept but beware if you have young children there are some drain covers that are in the flower beds that need repair and not child safe. Also steep stone steps in the sitting /dinning room with a deep drop on one side would mean it would be difficult with toddlers or people less mobile. One of our elderly friends fell down the side as he didn’t realise it was so steep, thinking it was a step . The lighting was poor in that room too and an extension lead was used at night to plug in lights on the patio.
Unfortunately we arrived at 8.30pm to a flood in one of the bathrooms which was not anyone’s fault but when we immediately set about cleaning it up to prevent any damage there were no buckets, cloths or any cleaning products left to use, not even a few bin liners. We went out and brought a washing up bowl and cleaning products as are respectful of someone’s property and the bathroom had to be clean before it could be used. The leak was rectified the next day. The tv didn’t work until the day before we left due to some problem but although we had not come away to watch tv , it would have been nice for our disabled child to enjoy an hour or so while waiting to go out and we did feel more could have been done once this was brought to the care managers attention who just sent emails. The villa was peaceful during the day but at night there were dogs barking and fighting nearby so ear plugs may be handy if you are a light sleeper, but this is not in the owners control obliviously. There is no air conditioning in the main bedroom so with the windows closed and the fan on it is still hot. A little more attention to maintenance and perhaps a welcome starter pack ( cloths, bin bags, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets) may be a nice touch for those travelling a long way. We left ours behind for the next guests but not sure if they will be given them. Perhaps a few more visitor information guides would have also been useful when planning a day out. We have a holiday letting business in the uk and our guests expect high standards as it is their main holiday so we try to give them a good experience. Hopefully our reviews are constructive and be beneficial to future guests and the villa manager.
We were a family group between the ages of one and sixty. The house suited all of our needs. It was very spacious and the location was great.
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely villa, even better in real life than in the pictures! We were 8 (grandparents and small children) and the villa caters for everything. Kids could play football on the lawn and many different terraces as well as very large plot meant there were news spots to explore and sit in the sun (or shade). The pool is very large yet it has a safety fence for children, which is not that common and a must for us.The maid Sorina was also very helpful with everything which was a real bonus. We will certainly be back!
Thank you for your kind words, we love to hear that guests enjoy our villa as much as we do. I will also let Sorina know how happy you were with her. It will make her day!
Perfect family holiday
We are a family of eight (ages 19 to 75 ) and had a wonderful week at the villa. Set in an acre of land the gardens were lovely and we enjoyed leisurely breakfasts on the large veranda looking out over the garden, watching the birds, the occasional Gekhos and even a couple of rabbits. The villa is quite large so space for everyone and offering all the facilities we needed including a wine fridge.!!!!!. The beds were the most comfortable I have known in any villa we have stayed in so guaranteed good nights sleep. Great pool with nice sun loungers and a great barbecue which we loved. Carvoeiro is about a 15 minute walk or a leisurely 25 minutes and our favourite part of Portugal.
There is s large supermarket a 5/10 minute drive away . As we didn’t want to be cooking every night we walked round the corner from the villa to the Vale de Milho restaurant and enjoyed fabulous food and service. It was so good we actually dined there on three nights of our 7 night stay. We have had many holidays in Carvoeiro and this is the best Villa we have stayed in . Thanks to Witsard, the owner, and Aart his man Friday who made sure we settled in and was on hand if we needed anything. And yes we will be back.
Dear Maureen and Geoff,
Thank you for such a kind and warm review. We love to hear that people have enjoyed our holiday villa as much as we do ourselves. We are so glad that it was to your liking and that a great time was had by all.
Thank you again and best wishes
It's a great villa and well situated.
The villa is very spacious and benefits from having the separate pool area and the lawn garden area. Large pool and gated meant it was perfect for us with a young family!
Thank you Peter, we're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope we can welcome you back at some point.
absolutely delightful villa in a great area
Our family stayed for 2 weeks last August and couldn't have been more delighted. Even before we left home Witsard was so helpful and offered great information about the area, villa, car hire etc. The villa itself is beautiful and very comfortable. Everything you could want is in the kitchen, bathrooms and living areas. The gardens are wonderful with a lovely pool which the kids just spent the whole day in. Good restaurants in the area meant that I didn't have to do any cooking which was my real holiday..
The Richardson family
