Homemade cake will be waiting to welcome you at Swallows' Nest. Situated in the thriving village of Briston, near the pretty Georgian town of Holt, Briston has an excellent butcher, greengrocer, bakery and Co-Op. Swallows' Nest comprises a kitchen/living room, double bedroom, wet room, utility room leading out to an enclosed container garden (perfect for our four-legged guests) with garden table and chairs. We have BT Superfast Fibre Broadband, and a good selection of movies, books and local maps (including footpath maps for you to borrow). You can walk to the pub (five minutes) or walk your dog around the local area (fields and country lanes), or you may want to drive to the coast for the day and return to the peace and quiet of the Nest later. As the Nest is all on one level: ground floor, it suits guests with limited mobility and we can provide a ramp for wheelchair access.
Ground floor annexe, rural location, village shops, 20 minute drive to the coast.

About Lucy Jones
When we first set eyes on Devonshire House in the summer of 2006, swallows were swooping noisily in and out of the porch. Five years later, we converted the annexe attached to our home into a holiday let and named it after them, Swallows' Nest. We love having guests to stay, many of whom now return every year. Working from home as we do, it's a joy to be able to share this beautiful part of North Norfolk with our guests, and our friendly, Labrador, Rosie, loves it too.
Lucy Jones purchased this House in 2006
Why Lucy Jones chose Briston
Briston is perfect providing the best of both worlds: a thriving, friendly North Norfolk village with a shop, pubs, bakery, butcher, post office and greengrocer - yet only a 10-minute drive along the coast road and you'll find yourself at the nearest beach (Salthouse) or in the pretty Georgian town of Holt. Many of our guests have told us they really like the fact that we are close to the tourist 'hot spots' but far enough away to enjoy a peaceful evening sitting in the Nest garden with nothing but the birds for company.
What makes this House unique
The property is just two minutes' walk from the nearest pub (although there are two to choose from in the village). If you are looking for great food to eat in the comfort of the Nest, we can also recommend local foodie places where you can get delicious takeaways at reasonable prices. Fresh crab, lobster and fish are all available (in season) from the 'Norfolk Larder' in the village which is a short walk from Swallows' Nest. We are very dog-friendly and do not charge for our four-legged guests (see our dog policy). There are many dog-friendly pubs in the surrounding villages and lots of excellent dog-friendly walks, two of which are provided by the Stody Estate locally - especially for dog walkers, so the areas are fully enclosed and safe to let your dog run free.

Super annex and fab for a dog
A lovely little annex, a warm welcome and a comfy cosy property. Our spaniel loved it as well. A great base for getting around north Norfolk.
Thank you for coming to stay - we're so glad you had a good time and that we get a paws up from your spaniel too!
A delightful and well-appointed cottage with easy access to the coast and area around Holt.
The cottage is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Lucy gave us a warm welcome. Our dog enjoyed the dog-proof back yard, and there is ample off-road parking at the front. Briston is an interesting village with some lovely local shops. We can recommend the butcher and seafood outlet. A great base from which to explore the North Norfolk Coast and neighbouring small towns and villages. The only issue we had, and I'm sure it is only a temporary one, is that we couldn't access the wifi during most of our stay.
It was lovely to meet you Hilary and thank you for your review. We are so pleased you had a good time. Our apologies for the intermittent WiFi - something we thought we had resolved when we installed BT Superfast Fibre at the end of the summer. Since your visit, we have arranged for an IT technician to come to Swallows' Nest and hopefully resolve the connectivity issues you experienced. With all best autumnal wishes from, Lucy
A pretty cottage, clean and beautifully decorated and equipped. Lucy is a delightful host
We had a relaxing stay in a pretty cottage - a good central base for discovering North Norfolk. All mod cons including an excellent selection of books and guides, a washing machine, wet room and, unusually, a dishwasher made the stay even more relaxing. There is also a sweet little garden and Rosie the dog was eager to share her toy. Internet connection is a little erratic.
It was lovely to meet you and thank you for coming to stay at Swallows' Nest, Rosie has plenty more toys to show you should you return!
Very comfortable stay, in this cosy, quaint cottage
Our three night stay was a wonderful 'home away from home' experience, comfortable and spotless with lots of lovely thoughtful touches, colouring books, 'coffee table' books highlighting beautiful places to visit in Norfolk together with plenty of comprehensive good guides to the area and ordnance survey maps.
Lucy & Richard were very warm and welcoming. The lemon drizzle cake was a lovely added bonus too!
We have visited Norfolk numerous times and have seen a fair bit of what the county has to offer but Lucy & Richard had some lovely new locations to try, one being Heydon, a stunning privately owned village with a wonderful pub, The Earle Arms, well worth a visit for a great meal.
Briston is well placed to access much of what Norfolk has to offer, picturesque villages, gastro pubs and, of course, the fabulous beaches. We shopped at the Mace store which was open till 9:15pm, very handy to pop in for an evening treat.
It was lovely, after a hard day's holidaying, to come back, relax and chill in such very charming and comfortable surroundings, the sofas were very comfy as was the mattress! Simply divine!
We're so glad you had a good time at Swallows' Nest and thank you for the lovely review. We hope to welcome you both back another time!
Clean and tidy and fairly well kept property.
Could not get WiFi for whole stay, which is a problem when you need to work. The property is advertised as having WiFi. Shower is very weak and could be replaced for something more powerful. Lots of helpful local info in the property and books, films and a nice cake on arrival.
It was lovely to meet you and thank you for coming. We're sorry that the WiFi was troublesome and will investigate that further (working from home ourselves we rely on it too). Thank you for the shower suggestion which we have noted for possible future improvement. With all best wishes from Lucy
A quiet well appointed cottage annex. Superbly maintained and managed by Lucy.
Lucy is very engaging with a warm friendly welcome to her well appointed holiday home.
The annex enjoys full facilities for self catering with plenty of room inside and out to relax.
There is a wide selection of guide books for local attractions together with a full range of OS maps for guests use - very helpful, thank you.
Many thanks for coming to stay at Swallows' Nest, it was lovely to meet you both!
