About Miren Valle

My name is Miren, Im born in Bilbao, I'm a Beautician, and have had a beauty Salon on the coast for many years.

I currently live in between the coast and Gaucin, depending of if the house is booked or not.

Miren Valle purchased this chateau / country house in 2004

Why Miren Valle chose Ronda area

My husband's dream was to have a house in the Country, and he found his dream in Gaucin.

We bought the plot and build what is today La Posada Romana.

We are very proud of the house and the gardens that we have surounding us.

I fell in love of the area when we came to buy the plot, because is so green and there is forest everywere, is very peaceful and specially we love the views over the straight of Gibraltar.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The whole project was drawn in a restaurant napkin and passed on to a wonderful arquitect: Gustavo Kloster, who made our dream reality and managed the building project following to the point our wishes.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Our group of four adults and four children has stayed at Miren's house over the Christmas holidays and could not be happier with our choice. The house itself is beautiful, with lots of space and amazing light and breathtaking views. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the inside pool and the huge garden.

The area around the house is exactly what we needed - the house is slightly away from the touristic coast and it is hidden in the picturesque hills with several lovely little villages nearby.

Miren's hospitality has been above all our expectations. She has always been very quick with all her responses and has kindly offered us to arrange our transfer from and back to Malaga airport. We have also had our food shopping done for us prior to our arrival, which has been a huge help.

Thank you very much Miren for making our holidays unforgettable!

Great days in a wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

From the video at Youtube we already got an impression of the house but when we arrived we found it simply marvelous. This house is perfect for holidays with a big family who enjoys to spend a relaxing time together for talking, cooking, sun bathing, watching the wonderfull landscape down to valleys and mountains, even to the Mediterranian See and the African coastline. For the last about 1 km to the house you should be used to drive steep quite rough lanes but for a experienced driver it's funny. In Diego we had a friendly caretaker who was ready to assist in any question or problem we had. When we called him he immediately was there. The house itself is very tastefully decorated and functional constructed. Nearby pittoresque white Gaucin is a nice village with a well sorted supermarket and a lot of bars and restaurants.

We hope that we will have the opportunity to come back alltogether to Le Posada Romana one day.,

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Posada Romana is stunning from the moment you glimpse it from the track to when you open the gates and see it from the top of the drive, it is simply breathtaking!

There is nothing that you could do to improve the house, it is well equipped, clean, and huge and the views are something else. It is so quiet and peaceful the only thing we heard was goat bells and birds - it is so relaxing.

The track to the house is a bit daunting and I have to admit worse than we were expecting, however once you have done it a couple of times it doesn't seem so bad. Gaucin itself is lovely - one word of advice - park and walk into the village - on no account try and drive through it is VERY narrow and difficult to navigate, we did it one by accident - never again! A visit to La Granada Divino in Gaucin is definitely worth a visit, roof terrace, excellent food and very reasonable.

I would recommend a visit to Ronda, the drive is spectacular and Ronda is lovely. Also if you need a larger supermarket there is a large Lidl in Estepona.

We were a group of 2 families with adults and teenagers and we would all go back tomorrow. Thanks Miren, Diego and Ester for making our stay even better!

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Posada Romana for 7 nights with a party of 4 adults and 3 kids. I wish we could have stayed longer. First of all, the house is huge. You have plenty of spaces that offer privacy when you're with a group. The beds are king size, and extremely comfortable and most of the bedrooms have a great view and some even have a terrace. The bathrooms are perfect and luxurious (even one bathroom with a jacuzzi). But the best thing is the outside space and the view. Wow! Mountains, forest, the sea and sometimes even morocco. Within 5 to 10 minutes you reach the house from Gaucin. A dirt road, but one we could easily handle with our small rental. Hope to be back soon.

Fantastic house as home base or destination itself

  • 5 of 5

As a group of 5 widely-traveled couples who get a villa somewhere in Europe every year, we all bring our own benchmarks of a "great house." La Posada Romana hit every one of them. It is a fantastic home to enjoy as its own destination, or as a centrally-located home base for the major destinations of Andalucia.

To start, the owner, Miren, couldn't have been more helpful, particularly with a very thorough pre-trip packet, including helpful directions to the house with pictures of primary route landmarks. Also included are restaurant suggestions with pictures, contact numbers, websites, attractions, history, etc. -- essentially the House Book delivered to you before your arrival. Diego, the gardener, was always available with suggestions or to help with any requests.

The house itself is excellent for large groups. There is plenty of room for everyone to either gather together or find their own private space. While we didn't have any young children with us (ages ranged from mid-20s to early-60s), as parents we could appreciate that the house would be very well suited for all but the youngest (as there are many levels).

The kitchen is large and well stocked with equipment and serving ware. As seems to normally be the case, it proved to be the favored gathering spot and could accommodate the 10 of us easily. We also had everything we needed to make and enjoy large scale dinners.

The pool, sundeck and activities (ping pong, bocci) lent a relaxing resort-like component to the holiday.

You do need a vehicle unless you are particularly geared towards a 30 minute hike into town, up a fairly steep incline. It's a 4 minute drive otherwise. The track to the house is perhaps a bit daunting the first trip, but a non-event thereafter. However, the location couldn't be better -- the views can't be done justice in the pictures.

The house can get warm when closed up, but please note that this is coming from visitors from moderate/cool climates (NYC/SF/Toronto) and used to constant air conditioning. However, there is central A/C with a max low of 23C (74F). We visited in October during a perfectly mild and dry period -- 24/15 (75/58) and were perfectly comfortable when we opened the doors and windows (of which there are many large openings) to allow the breezes to come through, adding to the home's open and bright feeling.

We highly recommend Posada Romana, and thank Miren and Diego for a very memorable holiday!

Really stunning.

  • 5 of 5

House – stunning. The photos really do not do justice to what is an extraordinary house, beautifully laid out and furnished. It was impeccably clean and had all the mod cons you might need. The owner quick to respond and very helpful with any queries.

Location: A short drive or walk into town, although the walk is an uphill hike. Gaucin has everything you could need, local shops, local produce and friendly to all nationalities. The view across the mostly unshared valley is mesmerizing, and the quiet is what we went for. Perfect in everyway, only wish it had a piano!
