About David Johnson
We are a young family and purchased the The Old Barn, Holme, in 2006. We carried out a completed refurbishment and modernisation and continue to make little changes here and there every year. We live near Stamford and travel regularly to The Old Barn to escape work and immerse ourselves in the sheer beauty of all that the North Norfolk coast has to offer. In 2007 we also bought two properties next to the beach at South Beach, Heacham. We thought these would be perfect for our children to grow up around and play by the beach in the traditional way.

We scoured properties for sale from Heacham to Wells, but The Old Barn stood out as having so much light and airy space and a large enclosed garden, that made not buying it very difficult indeed. It is superbly located for children's activities as well as those for adults. The estate agents words to us were 'don't go too far round the coast, as this area is where all the action is.' SOLD!
What makes this Barn unique
The Old Barn has four generous bedrooms and enough showers and wc's that two families can share without getting in each others way. But the best bit for us is the huge living spaces and the lovely log burner. As soon as we unpack we walk to the beach for some sea air and then stop off at the local pub on the way back for a real ale. Perfect.

Beautiful house, photo's don't do it justice
We had a wonderful family stay here. The house is huge and can easily accommodate 8x people. It feels really warm and homely and we also arrived to a box of cup cakes.
I really can't recommend this place enough. We'd definitely consider staying here again.
Spacious and comfortable for adults and children
It is well equipped for young children to stay with stairgates high chairs and a travel cot if you needed it. We had lots of space and it was very comfortable. Great stay!
A Homely and Comfortable Barn Conversion With Bags of Character
We had a fabulous short break at this property. Very comfortable and with a pub only a short walk away, we didn't have to think too hard about food and drink. A great place to chill and in easy reach of beaches to walk the dog. We would thoroughly recommend this well maintained and fitted out property. Hope to return some time soon.
We stayed at the Old Barn to celebrate my wifes 60th Birthday. The weather wasnt brilliant but it was so warm and cosy in the house.There was plenty of seating for the six of us in each room. We especially liked the garden room with its underfloor heating. House was beautifully appointed and kitted out - we wanted for nothing. Short walk to the beach with a handy nice pub at the halfway mark. Cannot recommend this property highly enough.
Immaculate cottage with tonnes of space and character!
Perfectly situated on the North Norfolk Coast. Cottage has everything you could need, and is spacious enough for all guests. The property itself is clean and the gardens are very well kept. The log burner is a great feature. Would definitely recommend.
We loved it!
We had a wonderful stay at the old barn. The property is really lovely, full of character, beautifully appointed and the location is just perfect. It's clear this lovely property is maintained to a high standard; the photos don't do it justice. I can't say enough nice things about the place. The 8 of us (2 grandparents, 2 children and their partners and 2 teenage grand-children) were comfortably accommodated.
Unlike some other properties that purport to accommodate 8, there's bags of room around the whopping eight-seater dining table for meals and family games as well as plenty of comfy seating in the lounge area, where 8 can watch a movie together, plus more casual seating in the orangery which is a nice, light and airy space for reading, knitting or 'chillaxing'.
We were slightly worried there wouldn't be enough bathrooms for 8. Upstairs, there is only one family wc as the other is in the en-suite. However, there is also a wc downstairs, and a separate shower room upstairs, so no one was ever queueing!
My only gripe, (just a tiny one), was that we couldn’t let our little dog off the leash in the garden, because she would have been able to get through the driveway gates. David did suggest I bring some mesh, but we had no room left in the car.
We had a lovely time here and even had a fun game of boules on the front lawn. As if the property alone wasn't enough, the location is superb. It's a short walk to the loveliest beach, or the White Horse pub.
There is also a lovely little park area, half way down Peddars Way, which, we were informed by the locals, was purchased jointly by residents to ensure its future as a ‘green space’ and prevent development.
As others have mentioned, at the farm shop just down the road, there's also a place to buy fresh fish as well as Eric's Fish & Chip greasy-spoon-cafe-style restaurant.
We loved every minute of our stay. Thank you, David and family, for sharing your lovely property.
