Shorwell nestles in a wooded valley, encircled by hills. The village has three manor houses and many thatched and stone built picturesque cottages. Shorwell has a great pub, The Crown Inn, which dates back to the 16th century. The pub has a lovely trout filled brook running through its garden (the same one as Brookside Cottage, which is directly opposite). The oldest part of the village is known as Westview and is close to the church of St Peter. The church itself dates back to the 12th century. The village also boasts a post office, re fronted in Georgian style.
