About Cathy Edge
We have lived in Wales on the border with England for over 20 years. Our family has grown up on the Kymin.
Why Cathy Edge chose Monmouth
We have lived on The Kymin for over 20 years and love the rural tranquility and spectacular views combined with easy access to the shops and local activities. The Top Barn is situated in a field adjacent to our property. We often have animals in the field including cows and chickens.
What makes this Barn unique
The view is the best part. We have tried to incorporate this into the different rooms in the barn. In addition, there is a tranquility on the Kymin which means that you feel you are away from it all whilst in fact within 10 minutes you are back in town with all the amenities you require. There is very little light pollution so on clear nights the stars are remarkable.

Very clean and comfortable with fantastic views. Log fire beautiful when evenings are chilly
Cathy, the owner is very nice lady and very accommodating to our needs. Beautiful barn conversion and surrounding area. Everything you need is there.
Idyllic hillside retreat close to wye, monmouth and forest of dean
We are family of four , 10 and 15yr old girls. Great position. Up the hill from monmouth just below the kymin (monument , open space and oak forest). Property is very cosy. Well appointed kitchen and bathroom. Log burner. 5 mins to get to town but super peaceful. Monmouth has shops, pubs and restaurants. Loads to do locally. Cathy and husband lovely and took the kids to feed the sheep and get eggs. We loved it
Excellent, well appointed.
Excellent property, great location, stunning views and sunsets. Loved the sheep.
Great place to stay
The barn is in a secluded, peaceful location, with great views across the valley. Ideal for 4 people and dog friendly with great walks on the doorstep.
The facilities are good, very much a home from home. Plenty of things to see and do in the area. Will definitely return in the future.
Amazing, Memorable experience
Absolutely LOVED our stay at Cathy & David's "Top Barn". The location is phenomenal, the view is beyond words and the space they have created is so fabulous and comfortable. This is truly a piece of paradise that they are sharing. Our family of 5 spent four nights there while visiting south Wales, and we would have been content to just stay put! Cathy & David at so friendly and thoughtful; so glad we didn't miss out on this gem!
cute, cosy and comfy
Restful stay in a beautifully finished and spotlessly clean barn conversion. Cathy recommended some nice walks and the views are fabulous. Dog friendly with a secure garden. We would definitely return..
The barn is just over a mile from the market town of Monmouth which boasts a rich history and plenty of independent shops, pubs and restaurants.
The barn is situated on the Kymin which is a hill overlooking Monmouth with a National Trust property at the top. The area is popular with walkers and there are plenty of activities locally including cycling, canoeing, walking and rock climbing. There are numerous walks in the area with Offas dyke long distance path passing only a few metres from the barn.
