About Jane Baker
I ran a successful B&B in my house in Sandy Way Croyde for 6 years. Being a local girl having grown up in the area and lived in Croyde since 1979 I know the area well. I've enjoyed meeting people from all over the country and have got a great deal of satisfaction from their reaction when they arrive at the B&B and from their enjoyment of my beautiful village.Through chatting with people on holiday I think I have grasped an understanding of what is generally important for a good experience. I also travel a lot so stay in all sorts of accommodation so I know what I would be looking for. I feel lucky to have the privilege of living in Croyde with everything it has to offer. For a small place it has a big personality. You will never be bored if you stay here. Having done the changeovers myself for a few years I have now found Carolyn who has the same high standards who is a huge asset . We like to add those personal touches which freshens things up. I have worked as an interior designer and love to create a warm welcoming home for you to enjoy.

Why Jane Baker chose Croyde
This property is ideal for holidays being a short stroll from both the lovely sandy beach and coast path and the village with its pubs shops and restaurants as well as a stones throw from a pool, sauna, gym, jacuzzi. I just couldn't fault it. Then when I saw how well it had been renovated with all new fixtures and fittings and how light and airy it felt it was perfect. Add to that the generous level garden great for ball games and alfresco dining my mind was made up. Guests have fortunately been really pleased with it. Their reviews can be seen before you book on holidaylettings ref 5653539.
What makes this Bungalow unique
Conveniently positioned with all new mod cons I'm confident any guest will have a lovely holiday at this property. Croyde has everything for every personality and most requirements. Whether you want a quiet nature based experience, a sport mad one, like to be entertained or just want to chill this is your perfect base.

Lovely home, quiet area, fab location
We stayed for 2 nights in Feb and found the house to be a nice base for a family of 4. It’s well equipped and gives easy access to Croyde and the surrounding areas. The scones were a nice touch and luckily we’d taken some tea bags to enjoy a nice cream tea when we arrrived! No towels were provided just so guests are aware - this is stated in the info but definitely don’t forget them!
Lovely garden which would be a bonus in warmer months.
We couldn’t access the garage but there were a number of games in there and great storage for anyone surfing etc.
We love Croyde and this is a good base to visit it. You can use the facilities at the Unison site at the back of the house - spa, swimming pool, gym etc which is anothrr bonus for anyone with children!
Deposit refunded in full a week after the trip - in case anyone is wary of this. We would visit and stay here again.
Thank you for your review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The lock on the garage turns the opposite way to normal but this is written on the key, garage door and in the house manual along with my phone no for any issues. I hope this reassures people that I am here to help and your holiday experience is very important to me. I'd love to welcome you back.
Great bungalow - one of the best holiday homes we've stayed in - would definitely stay again
This bungalow is very good quality, extremely clean and modern and in very good order. We found it exactly as seen in the photos.
Location is excellent, in a very quiet cul de sac but only a few minutes walk from Croyde, which is an attractive village with a nice deli, cafes & pub, & also a few minutes walk to the beach. We enjoyed being able to cycle on the tiny lanes and the Tarka trail which is nearby, as well as doing some stunning coastal walks from the doorstep. We also enjoy gardens and there are lots nearby - Rosemoor and Tapeley Park were lovely.
Inside the bungalow - the kitchen/diner is very light & sunny and we found it a great place to sit, with views of the garden & gentle green hills nearby. We enjoyed watching the birds in the garden each morning. The lounge is a good size with plenty of seating, again nice and light & airy. The TV & DVD were excellent and we used the internet quite a lot, although the connection was a bit variable. The kitchen was very well kitted out; all the pots & pans were spotless, everything shiny clean, and there was everything we needed (and we cooked a lot) - even the knives had been properly sharpened! The bedrooms have top end duvets which felt really luxurious, and lovely wool rugs and throws to use if you need. The bathrooms are spacious, modern and spotlessly clean. The central heating can be adjusted easily to suit your needs, and the hot water is instant.
Outside there's parking on the drive for one car, and a lockable garage with body boards, games & BBQ. We really appreciated being able to store our cycles securely. There's a level large garden with a very large outdoor dining table & chairs, deck chairs and comfortable wooden chairs which we used to sit in the afternoon sun with a cuppa.
We loved staying here and would definitely like to stay again. We like quiet cycling, walks, sitting in cafes or pubs, and seeing gardens so off season was lovely. There are so many lovely places to see in the area and the bungalow is a great find.
Thank you for your review. I'm so glad you found it perfect for your holiday.. that's what it's all about. I will contact BT about the internet today as it's important to have good connection. Many thanks
Croyde holiday cottage
Loved the fact there were 2 bathrooms. The bed linen is beautiful, and the overall amenities are very good.Very pleasant area and plenty to do. Plenty of cutlery, crockery and cookware. We didn't find the games (in the garage) until the last day. Shame, because we had hoped there would be some as we forgot to pack our own Scrabble!!!! The seating was a bit disappointing, not very comfortable for relaxing, and moving all the large cushions was quite irritating. We couldn't understand the chair in the alcove next to kitchen, as specifically asked not to move any furniture. I found it difficult to step up to the front door and had to wait until someone else could help me up. (I am not disabled but getting long in the tooth!!) We were extremely wary when walking around the bed as the "throw" was dangling on the floor, unless I made sure to pull it further up the bed and could be hazardous to people of our age. Also very wary of banging our legs on the wooden bed frame, as we bruise easily. It sounds as though I am being petty but I hope you will accept my comments as constructive criticism, for future occupants.
I'm sorry the property didn't fully meet your requirements but I've set it up for as broad an age range as possible and 47 5* reviews would suggest I've got most things right for most people. Thank you for taking the time to give me your feedback and I will give it careful consideration.
Clean , modern and walking distance to surf! Perfect!
Jane’s place is great. Suited our family of 4 very well.
Well equipped, new and fresh .
A short walk to the fine golden sand of Croyde beach, arguably the best surfing beach in England, lifeguarded from easter to October, it attracts many Surf
/SUP/Coasteering/Kitesurfing schools. It has easy level footpath access from the house suitable for a buggy to the beach and village.
Car is recommended but not essential as there is lots to do in Croyde and Buses run hourly.10 miles to nearest railway station in Barnstaple and National coaches.
10 miles to nearest bank and 5 miles to supermarket. 5 minutes walk to nearest shop for basics in season and ATM. 5 miles to petrol station. 10 miles Barnstaple. 5 miles Tarka bike trail. 20 miles Exmoor National Park. 1-2 mile to Saunton/Putsborough.
There are 3 pubs each serving good food in Croyde, the Thatch being award winning and 2 excellent pubs in the sister village of Georgeham 2 miles inland. Live music is often provided in these lively venues. 2 restaurants serve Croyde with variety and quality. A tea room set in a walled garden is only one of many places serving cream teas. Croyde has a playground, Volley ball nets in the village and on the beach, 2 leisure pools and family entertainment. A huge variety of outdoor activities are available with equipment either to hire or lessons to hone your skills. A weekly deckchair cinema is popular in season as is a workout on the beach with an instructor. Criss cross the countryside and headland on the multitude of secluded walking paths or stretch your legs on Sauntons 3 mile beach round the corner. Loads to do in this vibrant diverse village.
