About Heather Turnbull
I live in Edinburgh with my husband. We have had this cottage for over 20 years. Our children loved summer holidays spent here when young and still return with friends. My husband was brought to St Abbs for his childhood summers in the 1960s and 1970s and his mother came as a child in the 1930s. It is a timeless place which draws you back again and again.
Heather Turnbull purchased this Cottage in 1993

Lovely cottage. Hair dryer would of been great & a bbq as had hair right mess all hol. Not stayed in a cottage without one before. Lists of places to eat be good or visit. Found it hard to find many decent places to eat out. Beautiful area but v uncommercialised. Really cosy cottage though and well equipped with kitchen equipment etc. Beds v v comfy. St Abbs lovely and the bay in next village only a short beautiful walk away 10 min if tht over cliff top path which next to cottage. Lovely views . Thank you. Would come again
Glad you enjoyed your stay. Will take your points on board and make a list of some good eateries which are around. First time anybody has mentioned a hairdryer but will provide one.
The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped and is perfectly located for a lovely quiet holiday in an extremely beautiful part of Scotland.
Very conveniently situated close to the sea and views and walks.
Our 3rd visit to St. Abbs but first in this property. St. Abbs is such a beautiful place and so peaceful. Wonderful walks from the door. We loved the area and would like to return. A comfortable property with everything we needed for our stay. The en-suite bathroom was brilliant and the shower-room downstairs was good too as my daughter had the upstairs room and didn't have a problem coming down to use it. There were however, several cleaning issues: Living room carpet was very dirty. Better cleaning needed - lots of dust behind radiators, skirting boards, etc so cobwebs with large black spiders! Bath needed cleaning before we could use it. Old used cloths, scourers, etc. needed to be thrown out. Pull cords for blinds were broken. Roll top on bread bin was broken. Free-Sat remote control didn't work - maybe needed new batteries?
Thank you for your feedback and i am glad you enjoyed the cottage. I am sorry there were a few minor issues all of which have been resolved.

The Berwickshire Coast lying on the east of the Scottish Borders is a superb holiday spot for both families and lovers of the outdoors. Splendid scenery provides a backdrop for quiet relaxation while there is plenty to occupy young and old alike.
The best sandy beach in the area is a 10 minutes walk from the village (or you can drive and park there if you prefer). The hotel offers hire of surfboards and wetsuits and in the summer there is a beach cafe and a lifeguard.
Scenic walks from the village also take you to St Abbs Head with superb clifftop views and nature reserve famed for seabirds including puffins.
The fishing harbour still has working boats and hires can be arranged locally for diving and sea angling
The village has a shop and 2 cafes and nearby Coldingham has 2 pubs which can if you like be reached by a 30 minute walk along the traditional route of the Creel Path. About 4 miles distant is tthe fishing port of Eyemouth the main town of the area with many facilities. You can buy freshly landed seafood and there is a swimming pool, tennis and an 18 hole golf course with an interesting clifftop challenge.
Further afield are the historic border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Holy Island with Lindisfarne (remember to check the tide times for the causeway), Bamburgh with its castle and the Grace Darling museum and Manderston House where the TV series Edwardian Coutry House was filmed.
The City of Edinburgh with all its attraction is one hours drive.
