Basic but clean
Off season travel meant may of facilities unavailable to us but the benefits were huge in terms of quietness and the beach was beautiful and almost empty. A perfect place to bring a young family and the complex was felt friendly and safe. We would love to return to Villa Tranquilla and thanks to Vittoria and David.
Many thanks to Trish + Joe + family,
As you say some of the facilities are not available in early season, which is why we decided to give you free entry to the sport and recreational centre. We are very pleased that you all enjoyed the time you spent at 'Villa Traquilla', and we feel that the dates you chose, are a wonderful time of year for a peaceful family holiday, and as Joe said the things that the kids enjoy are the simple things, like a relaxing beach and a wonderful clear sea, a break from city life.
Glad to hear that you will return, you are a wonderful family and we will be very pleased to see you all again.
Clean and nicely furnished
Great place to relax with the family, we stayed in August 2012, my wife and I and our 3 children, Rosemary, just into her teens, Tom and James the twins and we even managed to take my wife’s parents. With the different ‘zones’ around the Villa, everyone seemed to find their favourite spot, with areas to sunbathe and shady nooks. Everything in terms of shops, restaurants, pizzerias, beach café’s, are close at hand, although we made several trips up the coast, to some great beaches and bays, a trip to the local thermal river, very beautiful and even a trip to the old town of Tempio Pausania in the mountains, through winding Holm Oak forested roads. In all an excellent family holiday, Sardinia is beautiful in all it’s aspects, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, highly recommended. I should add, that Vittoria and David, were very helpful and gave us lots of good advise, with their comprehensive knowledge of Sardinia, we discovered things that without them, we would not have known about.
Thank you so much for your compliments, it's very encouraging to hear how other people have enjoyed their holidays in the Villa, and we are glad that we managed to help make your time in Sardinia a happy experience.
Great holiday! Apart from the natural beauty of Sardinia and the wonderful walks on the Nature Trail, we found the Villa in it’s surroundings and closeness to the beach, swimming pool, restaurants and everything else, so convenient and relaxing, it seemed no effort at all. On occasion we even forgot that we had our 3 children with us, there was so much for them to do, they just got on with it, reporting on what they had done on their return. The boys had great fun with the archery range, and Juliet enjoyed the swimming pool, where she made friends with a couple of German girls. We where quite happy relaxing with our books on the patio, the beach, by the pool, or at the bar with a cappuccino and croissant.
The evenings were just as easy, stroll to the restaurant, everyone of course happy to eat ‘al Italiano’ great Pizzas as well as the usual pastas and some interesting Sardinian dishes, and of course the excellent Italian wine, good local wines, Badesi is famous for it’s Vermentino and Cannonau. After dinner the teenagers disappeared to watch the entertainment or hang out with their new friends and we would go for a nightcap or to the ‘piano bar’ as the Italians call it, or just relax on the patio and watch the sun set, with a glass of wine.
I was very apprehensive of a holiday without a car, but consoled myself with the fact that if we changed our minds, a car could be arranged at reception. I drive a lot with my work so a rest was the idea, glad to say it worked out very well, we even took the bus into the village one day, strange sensation, but quite enjoyable.
All in all we were comfortable at the villa, comfortable at the resort, and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing holiday in beautiful Sardinia.
Many thanks to you and your family, for your kind comments, we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay in Villa Tranquilla. We have always found the villa relaxing and 'easy', as is life in Italy, it's always pleasing to hear the same from our guests. Good to hear you and your family made use of the Nature Trail, and all the other facilities in the village. Glad you took advantage of a holiday without a car and were happy with the result, after all holidays are for a rest from one's everyday life.
Quiet getaway in fantastic sardinia
Our 2 week stay in Sardinia's Badesi region made us all smile, the local wine cantinas .....a bit off the beaten track by the way ! were welcoming and had some excellent wines, its about 6 minutes walk to the sea where there are long stretches of white sandy beaches, the local restaurant also walking distance unusually named "K18" was good on the 2 occasions that we went.
From the house the coastal road winds in and out of the mountains giving you snapshots of the sea as you make your way further down the beautiful coastline,we managed to visit 6 different beaches and coves all lovely.
Village is 8 mins away and has an excellent "gelateria" with some very interesting flavors', including local fig and cream cheese.
The house was comfortable clean and an ideal place to chill out in the evenings. Recommend for a group of friends, there was enough space so that we didn't feel like we were in each others pockets, parking for 2-3 cars
all in all a wonderful stay.
Great to hear that you guys made the most of the Villa and it's space, we agree it's a good place to chill out. We are also pleased to hear that you had fun finding the local cantinas, Badesi is famous for it's wine and recently has recently won several awards, including best Italian white wine. We recommend a visit to 'Li Dune' very close to the Villa Tranquilla and as for wines, 'Renabianca' an excellent Vermentino, and 'Nalboni' a good hearty red made from 'Cannonau' and 'Monica' grapes, to drink with a meal, beware the Badesi wines are strong, as the vines are on sand. You did well to explore up the coast, loads of wonderful bays and coves.
Super-relax Villa, by the sea, good BBQ set-up, and well organised for eating outdoors, which we love. Easy walk to the beach for morning coffee, great to have a good restaurant, again walking distance, so we could all enjoy the local wine without risk. Vittoria and David were very helpful and came up with some good ideas for evenings out for the whole family, and some interesting beaches further up the coast. We all enjoyed ourselves without any stress, Sardinia is a really beautiful island, friendly people, great food and wine, wonderful clear seas, and some great fiestas in the local villages. Best of all, watching the sunset over the sea with a glass of the local wine on the terrazzo. Highly recommended, thanks guys.
Many thanks for all your compliments, glad to hear you appreciated the BBQ set-up, we also love to eat 'Al Fresco' and organised the area accordingly. We are pleased that you asked us for advise on local events and places to go, and whilst we are not the intrusive types, we are always happy to share our love of Sardinia, with anyone who asks. The important thing we think with holidays, is that you have a chance to relax and it seems that we have created a situation at Villa Tranquilla where you can do just that.
This relaxing villa set in the sand dunes of the nature reserve of Baia delle Mimose is just 200 mtrs. from the wonderful long white sand beach of the Baia delle Mimose where there are facilities for various water sports, a café bar on the beach, deckchairs and loungers for hire, a shower as you come off the beach and of course the wonderful turquoise sea. There is a new Trendy bar/restaurant on the beach 'Calypso' (entrance next to the entrance for the village) where you can eat fresh fish and lobster. The Villa is 200 mtrs from 3 restaurants and 4 bars, 2 of which are on the beach, as well as a supermarket, tobacconist and newsagent, so all amenities. There is even a bus to the local village of Badesi that runs twice a day.
Recreation and Sport
At 200 mtrs from the Villa, there is a recreational centre with a membership cost of €25 per person per week, consisting of a large 50 mtr. Olympic swimming pool as well as a children's pool, with a café bar, several tennis courts and a basket court, archery range and even a 9-aside football pitch, minigolf and a small playground for kids, also included are daily entertainments and animations for adults and children, dancing and discothèque music as well as piano bar according to season, and finally a T.V. room, pinball, video-games and ping-pong. (open 16 May - Sep)
There are also collective lessons of aerobics, surfing, tennis, canoeing, swimming and archery, for those who wish to participate
From the village there is a beautiful ‘Nature Trail’ that runs for a kilometre and a half, between the sea on one side and the river on the other, always following the coastline, with various accesses and walkways to the sea or to the river, culminating at the mouth of the river. The trail is full of Mediterranean flora including the famous Mimose trees and fauna, including foxes, weasels, hares, hedgehogs as well as larks, skylarks, variegated hoopoes, wild ducks, kingfishers, herons, moor hens, cormorants and various gulls. The river contains carp, tench, eels, bass, grey mullet and turtles. There is in the other direction through the pines an almost endless walk again following the coast.
Car or no car?
So as one can see that with the possibility on request, to arrange transfers from the Airports of Alghero and Olbia and the Ports of Porto Torres and Olbia, it gives one the choice to have a motoring free holiday, as we have all the facilities at Baia della Mimosa.
If on the other hand, as we are situated in the magnificent area of Gallura in Northern Sardinia, you prefer to have a car, we suggest that you book online to pick up and collect at the airport, this will enable you to visit the many and varied coves, bays and white sand beaches of the crystal clear seas of both “Costa Paradiso” and “Costa Smeralda” you will find locals selling freshly grown fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, wine and fresh fish along the coast road. The local village of Badesi is 5 minutes away where you will find all facilities for shopping, including supermarkets, grocers, green grocers, Selling local organic produce), bakers, butchers (local organic meat), chemist, post offices and banks, as well as various cafés and bars.
Apart from the restaurants in Baia della Mimisa, where one can enjoy the delights of Sardinian cuisine, and local wines, and of course one can walk home. There are many other restaurants and pizzerias in the local villages, as well as in the local seaside town of Valledoria (10 minutes). There is a thermal section of river nearby, where one can bathe in the healing waters, take a mud bath or just relax on the rivers beach and soak up the wonderful atmosphere, there is also a Thermal swimming pool with a large hydro massage pool and the Spa of Casteldoria where one can have many different therapies.
The water park nearby is ideal for a day out with the kids, or if you prefer something more cultural the numerous ‘Ancient sites’ in the North of Sardinia are very interesting, boat trips to amazing islands, drives up to the mountains that rise up from the coast, porcine hunting for mushroom fans, canoeing on the river or nearby lakes, Sardinia has it all.
There are lots of local festivals, all are invited, and one can sample the local cuisine at very reasonable prices, followed by some folk dancing or music etc., the Gallurese are known for their warm hospitality. Above all in Sardinia you will find tranquillity with its miles of unspoilt coastline and countryside, it remains one of the few beautiful 'undiscovered' holiday islands left in Europe and only 2 hours from the U.K. and other European countries (see below).
Flies to Alghero (70 mins. from ‘Villa Tranquilla’) from Various European cities
