Wonderful character property with heaps of space inside and out
Absolutely loved this property! In a quiet village, in a lovely secluded location with no passing traffic so great for peace & quiet - and for kids to play outside. There is heaps of land outside - both a grassed area and gravel for parking multiple vehicles, with gated access. Spacious interior with everything you need - fabulous large dining table for long, lazy meals with the family and a big roaring open fire in the lounge: perfect for late nights with a bottle of wine or two! Warm and toasty in winter with lots of hot water plus firewood provided too. Spotlessly clean and the best thing is all bedding and towels were provided too which saves bringing your own. Host was a great communicator and the welcome bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Highly recommended property - even better in reality than it looks in the pictures. Our whole party gave it 2 thumbs up
This is a wonderfully quirky gite in a lovely location. I loved the walls which were constructed of chalk, visible inside the fire. The garden was large and a bonus. We visited in August but could imagine that it would be a superb Christmas location too. Ruth, Graeme and Isaac.
Myself and the family loved our home from home.
Loved the decor, house has so much character and space. real home from home. the huge garden in which we used from bbq's to playing bat and ball. We went kayaking 10 minutes from the door to walking trails around Cavron st martin. Dialogue between us and the owner was exceptional. We would definitely return.
Perfect Location and lovely property.
From the start the communication with Catorina was fantastic and unlike other properties, all cost were included rather than hidden cost for utilities linen etc. She is very relaxed about everything and responded to me within minutes if we had any questions.
The house itself is perfect for friends or a family and is very well laid out, with a good sized kitchen, a very cosy lounge with an open fireplace and nice outdoor area for BBQs or just chilling. The beds are really comfy and there are 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and the other with a shower.
You would need a car like most places in rural France, however, everything is within a few minutes drive with a pub/cafe time place just 5 mins walk away from the property selling some basics.
Would definitely go back.
The property was very spacious. But unfortunately a few things didn’t work very well especially the heating.
The bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch.
Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry that you had problems with the heating - we are currently undertaking a check of the system. You shouldn't have hesitated to contact me during your stay - my colleagues would have come to assist with any issues.
Thank you again for staying and I apologise if anything detracted from your break.
We had an amazing time, couldn't get over how big the rooms were. Lovely walks, canoeing and beach near by, plenty of shops around.
Le Touquet and the seaside towns of the Côte d’Opale, with their beaches, water sports and golf are 45 minutes drive
An easy 1hr 15 minute drive from Calais. A car is essential due to the rural location.
Nearby is the old market town of Hesdin, with its shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Visit the open air morning market on Thursday, or travel a bit further afield to the markets at Fruges or Montreuil on Saturdays. Aqualud and Parc Bagatelle for younger visitors are within a 45 minute drive
The area is also steeped in military history – Vimy Ridge and the Somme are less than an hour away and Azincourt is close by.
Hesdin is a 15 minute drive and is the nearest town, with supermarkets, banks and restaurants etc.
