If this unit is booked we have two other condos in the building. This waterfront penthouse is located in the heart of downtown Victoria in the Mermaid building. On the waterfront of the harbour and the edge of the Gorge waterway, the Mermaid Building allows its guests to experience downtown Victoria, the Inner Harbour, the Gorge Waterway, the ocean, the upper part of the island and Vancouver, with ease.

Some of Victoria’s most popular restaurants surround the building, making it easy to have gourmet meals with out the worry of taxis or drinking and driving.

Take a Whale watching tour right outside the door. Or rent a kayak and glide through the harbour to the open ocean to discover the Pacific’s wild life. Or paddle up the Gorge waterway and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Salmon Fish with a charter or rent a power boat and just take it easy touring Victoria from the water’s perspective.

Just steps away, the harbour sea planes take passengers in a half hour flight to downtown Vancouver, offering great shopping on Robson street, Theatres, Stanley Park and more, and all in a day allowing one to return home for dinner.

The Mermaid neighbours Historic China Town with its many vegetable stores, restaurants and curio shops.

Romantic horse drawn carriages carry passengers through the inner harbour past the parliament buildings, the world famous Royal BC Museum, live entertainment, Underwater Sea Gardens, Omnimax Theatre, Miniature World, Double Decker sight seeing tours, and tour buses to the renowned Butchart Gardens.

Cycle, stroll, run, or even ride a horse on the picturesque Galloping Goose Trail. This multi-use trail, formerly a railway line, moves right beside the Mermaid Building, through urban, rural and wilderness scenery on its 55-kilometre journey from Victoria to Sooke. Whether you're commuting to work, meandering on a weekend afternoon or pacing yourself from Sidney to Sooke, the trail is yours to enjoy.

Catch the little Harbour Ferry stopping at the Mermaid and travel right up the Gorge waterway to Tillicum and down to the Empress.

The Suite sleeps two. There is a queen bed. Nothing has been spared in furnishing this space. It is fully equipped with a 32 inch flat screen Smart TV, stereo, DVD player, high speed Wifi internet and modem, microwave, dishwasher, stove, fridge, blender, toaster, coffee maker, washing machine and dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bathroom has a claw foot tub, separate shower and pedastall sink.

Location, Location, Location!

My husband and I treated ourselves to a stay in Victoria for our 40th birthdays. After pricing hotels, we decided to go with a VRBO condo. Boy are we glad we did! This condo was absolutely perfect. We couldn't get over the location. You literally walk out the door to the Canoe Brewpub or to the Chinatown Pickle Boat pickup/drop off site. It was an easy and enjoyable walk to the main hub of town, The Empress Hotel/Parliament Building. We also had an easy walk to many of the local breweries on the other side of town.

The condo itself is very similar to the photos, it has a different leather couch and window coverings but otherwise looks exactly the same. It felt rather large for 2 people and we LOVED the private rooftop patio. We spent almost every night up there with a bottle of wine to watch the sunset. It is a stunning view! The building is very secure and well maintained.

The size of the shower might be the only drawback, and it wasn't really a big deal. My husband has quite broad shoulders and felt it was quite a cramped space. It's true there is nowhere to put things around the sink area, but there are other mirrors in the main room with a table and outlets nearby-not a problem at all. They are in the process of updating the bridge right near the building, but we were there 4 nights and only heard noise one morning.

Francis was absolutely wonderful in picking us up from the ferry and driving us to the building while giving restaurant/site-seeing suggestions. He was great with showing us the ins and outs of the building and condo.

All in all, we wouldn't hesitate in coming back and staying here again! It was a perfect vacation!

The perfect place in Victoria!

My husband and I had a wonderful long weekend at this property! Gary and his team made check in and out so easy. We appreciated the security of the building and parking. Best of all, the location was perfect for exploring Victoria on foot. We enjoyed great food within a block or two and sipped wine on our private rooftop patio watching the harbor!

A wonderful week in Victoria

Having this accommodation made our week's stay in Victoria truly memorable. For me, it is ideally located with very easy access to everything that we wanted. It is right next to wonderful cafes, restaurants, the 'Chinatown' water taxi stop, and within an easy 15 minute walk to the heart of Victoria and the harbor. The apartment itself is very comfortable with good amenities, and the management of the apartment and complex was truly great for us; great communication, friendly, and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!!

Great Location - But Not The Place We Booked

The location of the condo was great, right overlooking the water, a 10 minute walk to the harbor, Empress and close some great restaurants and coffee shops. Also 5 minutes from Galloping Goose bike trail and also 5 minutes from an awesome 4 mile (rt) walk along the water.

The only reason I rated this a 3, is because the place we stayed at was not the place we thought we rented based on the pictures. There is a statement in the general description of the condo, that they have 2 other places in the building if this one is full. The only problem is, that we were never advised in any communication that we would be in a different condo, than what was being advertised on the website.

The place we did stay in was just fine, great view, and plenty of amenities. The bathroom was very small, as was the bedroom, and must agree with others that the bed was not too comfortable. The unit was fairly clean, unless you really looked close into corners of the bathroom, kitchen, etc. Could use a deep cleaning. Be ready for a restless night sleep. In addition the condo is directly over the restaurant/bar Fish Hook and right next to Canoe, both have great food. However on Saturday night, was very noisy until 1am. Am sure that is the case on Friday too. I must say Mon/Tue night were very quiet.

The condo is right next to a water taxi stop, 1 minute from your condo, and takes you anywhere in the harbor for $6 each. Everything you need to do is within walking distance, unless you are looking to explore Vancouver which we did, and a must, or going to Buchart Gardens. If you go you need to explore the Sooke area and north, great hiking, biking, hidden away restaurants and bears!

I would stay in the unit again, but once again feel the owner should be clear on which unit is being booked, and also send pictures of the unit being booked prior to accepting your money.
