Free wifi access! Heated pool available all year round (additional cost). In a beautiful location, an area of ​​almond and olive trees, with magnificent views of the country and mountains. The villa is located in a quiet spot, a few minutes drive from the road to the house. It is a house with a beautiful pool, terraces and shady outdoor areas. (There is also a summer kitchen under one of the terraces). All with fantastic views. The house is well equipped and furnished to a high standard. The pool is 7.5 x 3 .Exceptional location for mountain walks, visits to Malaga, Granada and the sandy beaches of the Costa del Sol.

Four spacious double bedrooms each with their own bath/shower, 4 two bed lodges each with en-suites. Outside plenty of sun loungers, tropical sun shades, wooden tables and chairs. Outside kitchen area includes a large gas BBQ, fridge/freezer, sink and ample dining area, plenty of comfy seating . The master bedroom has a luxury bathroom and balcony off. A large fully fitted kitchen provides all of today´s 21st century modern appliances, including a large American fridge freezer. A large first floor luxury sitting room includes a large flat screened TV with satellite channels. Most of rooms in the main house have overhead fans. The lodges have air-con.

Perfect base for walkers, artist, photography Restaurants, supermarkets etc. close by town of Periana. 30 mins drive to the beach and the many beach bars of the Costa del sol.

About Penny Bowles

For the past 13 years I have lived near to the village of Periana. Before moving to Spain I worked at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire for the National Trust. My husband and myself decided to have a change of scene as he was due to retire from the business that he ran in Bath. In 2000 we came over for the New Year celebrations and instantly fell in love with the area and having been looking for a while for the right location, we knew this was it. The rolling hills and mountain ranges are some of the most spectacular in Andalusia with the added bonus of Lake Viñuela on our doorstep.

Why Penny Bowles chose Periana

I look after the property for the owner who lives in the UK. Work commitments keeps him in Essex and although it is still his home he decided to rent it out when he is not staying there.

What makes this villa unique

I decided to manage the house as its been so carefully restored, with a lot of thought put into the decor and furnishings. The views from the lounge takes your breath away with its spectacular views across to Comares, one of the highest villages in Axarquia.

my sincere apologies for the delay in submitting this review. We all had such a wonderful time in late May early June. The combination of your genuine welcome and the eye wateringly beautiful house and area culminated in a fantastic holiday for the family. I cannot speak highly enough of both the house and the surrounding area its simply perfect. With five adults and three very young children the house still felt extremely spacious and afforded both the rare opportunity for us all to get together and immerse in some quiet reflection. We are so looking forward to returning next year and have no doubt we will be regular visitors. Once again thank you for all your support and advice,

  • All the bedrooms are airy and comfortable each with en-suites, in all sleeping up to 16 adults. One with disabled facilities. In the main house, there are two large double bedrooms upstairs including the master (with luxury bathroom) these have ceiling fans and both have a balcony, overlooking the mountains. The downstairs twin bedded room has disabled access and fully functional wet room plus ceiling fan. The double bedded annex is accessed via the pool area or the laundry room with a separate sitting area and large en-suite, a stand alone fan. Each room has been individually furbished to a very high standard. The extra accommodation of 4 lodges have 2 double bedded rooms and 2 twin bedded rooms each with their own en-suite. The lodges have air-con on a meter system. Duvets for the winter & springtime and all bed linen are provided.

The accommodation can be rented on a flexible self-catering basis, with an option for catering. Casa La Negra has eight double, twin and triple suites all furnished individually, including four lodges which share extensive terraces, plenty of quiet shady corners, a lovely pool.. With sleeping accommodation for up to 16 people spread between the main villa and lodges. We typically offer accommodation on the following flexible basis: •The whole villa with 4 bedrooms, plus 4 lodges each priced on a weekly basis depending on your group number, on a self-catering basis. •The villa only (without lodges) on a self-catering basis, sleeps up to 8 people.

For me, going to Casa La Negra is a little like coming home, except there is someone else looking after the Villa and constantly up-grading it.

Penny and her staff keep La Negra spotless and I can always rely on it being exactly as I've told my customers it's going to be.

I am getting to know the surrounding villages and specifically the Restaurants very well, and our group always receives a great welcome and service.

I'm visiting twice this year (2016) starting April 26th for a whole month, I know I won't want to come back to England.

Wonderful location, updated accommodation

We stayed here last year and didn't hesitate to return. Since our last trip the house has been updated but it still retains the old Spainish character. There is plenty of room for everybody to relax and the children are safe and can be kept an eye on with ease. The pool has the option to heat which was great and as with the previous year we only left to buy food to put on the BBQ. Customer service was great and welcoming and I would not hesitate in recommending to freinds or family.

Lovely secluded farmhouse in beautiful setting

We had another wonderful week at La Negra in June for our 2nd Yoga retreat there. We were really happy with the new heated pool system which meant that swimming was an absolute joy at any time of the day. The upgrades to the kitchen we're just lovely, and as usual the bedrooms, house and grounds were spotlessly clean and beautifully kept. Penny was a great help with anything we needed including booking taxis. If you're looking for a secluded getaway then this is the place, we love La Negra and can't wait to return.

4th visit

As promised, many modifications over the last few months have now been done and I believe there are even more in the pipeline.

New automatic irrigation system has been installed and the lawn is in the process of being replaced with a hardier veriaty of grass, well worth a little patience for it to get established.

The pool heating is fantastic and is now like stepping into a warm bath. Pool side "tropical" parasols add a mediterranean feel, extra new sun lounger have been purchased, lighting to the pool and terrace are make them more usable after dark.

The agent arranged for food to be brought in for a BBQ that was fully prepared and ready after our return from a long day away from the villa.

I would recommend this villa for all types of activity groups and families alike.

I've already booked my groups stay for September 2015, May 2016 and September 2016.

3rd Visit

February, bright sunny days and cold evening, but at Casa La Negra it keeps getting better, with 3 large log burner the Villa was very "toasty". Since our last visit in September 2014, lots of modifications have been made to the property and many more planned. After an unfortunate freaky storm the old wooden veranda deemed a little unsafe, was removed and is about to be replaced with a beautiful new stone one, I believe but with many other features planned over this year I can't wait to be back in May 2015.

What a gem!

This is just the perfect place for a large group or family. Penny was very helpful and we were overwhelmed by the property.

There were 6 adults and 10 children, we were a little apprehensive as we thought we might get under each others feel, not a chance. The place is huge with lots of different places to hang out. We loved the fact there are no neighbours close by and the views are outstanding. It's in quite a rural location, so a car is a must. We generally just hung out by the pool, one day we did a trip to the water park which is a 30 minute drive.

Really can't find fault with the place. We love it so much, we've booked to go back next year!

Periana which is famous for its Olive Oil and Peaches, is just a few minutes drive away, a friendly Spanish village with shops, weekly market (Wed) . ATM´s, bars, restaurants. It is the nearest town to La Negra This area of Andalucia is breathtakingly beautiful and surrounded by mountains, the National Park, Lake Vinuela close by and the famous Costa del Sol sandy beaches a drive away. The white washed village of Baños de Vilo is close by with the added attraction of a sulphur hot bath. Local activities in the area include Horse riding (5 mins away), the GR242 route for walkers is located on the outskirts of Periana, part of the National Trail up to the mountain ranges of the Sierra Tejada´s, Guides are available on request. The Moorish village of Comares which you can see from the villa across the valley. Torre del Mar is the nearest sea side town with plenty of bars and restaurants, along the coast line are numerous beaches of varying types with bars and restaurants, the typical sardine-bars and the traditional promenade walking. Nerja the largest resort is just over 40 mins drive away . There are 2 excellent 18 hole Golf courses - Bavaria and Club Anoreto along the coast line. Aqua water park for the kids, near the motorway junction and the Hypermarket..

We do recommend that you hire a car.
