West Dorset is a beautiful and popular place to visit for any number of activities - or simply for a rest - and Hooke is ideally placed for making the most of it. Situated in a pictureqsue valley on the edge of the Dorset Downs, most of West Dorset's finest attractions are within half an hour's drive of the village. The Old Coach House is a typical Dorset cottage, built of stone which makes it cool in the summer and cosy in the colder months. Traditional features such as the living room wood burner sit side by side with modern additions, like oil-fired central heating, the LCD television, wireless broadband connection and the contemporary, well-equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. Up to eight or nine people can be accommodated in the cottage's four comfortable bedrooms (two with televisions), and both the sun room and back garden are great places to enjoy the weather and the surrounding countryside views. The Old Coach House is situated on a pleasant triangular green, close to Bridge Farm, with good access to the roads out of the Village in all directions, and has private parking for three cars. The kitchen and adjacent utility room are equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave and electric cooker. One of the four bedrooms is located on the ground floor, and one bathroom features a walk-in shower, making life easier for people with mobility difficulties. The Old Coach House has been awarded four stars by the English Tourist Board.

Special interest holidays:
Our properties are all located near our family-run dairy farm and you are welcome to watch our herd of 100 cows during milking time, and watch the calves being fed. We also have a few sheep and some chickens. Don't forget to pack your wellies!
West Dorset is one of the UK's loveliest natural treasures, and an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As diverse as it is beautiful, there is plenty to occupy lovers of the countryside, fine dining, culture and entertainment, crafts and curiosity shopping, and much more besides.
West Dorset southern border is the famous Jurassic coast, a World Heritage Site and a paradise for fossil hunters of all ages and experience levels and a wonderful place to take advantage of the region's temperate climate for a spot of sunbathing.
You are sure of a peaceful time in our lovely village. Hooke nestles in a valley between two ridges of the famous Dorset hills, close to several major roads but with very little traffic other than the odd tractor. There is plenty to see if you decide to walk around: our charming ancient Church of St Giles and Hooke Court, both dating from the 15th century; Hooke Woods, which in spring is carpeted with bluebells and has many beautiful paths to wander; and the river and several picturesque ponds and lakes. As well as an abundance of common British wildlife and familliar farm animals, you will see ponies and donkeys grazing and, if you are lucky, may even see a kingfisher. In addition, some of West Dorset's finest views are waiting for you as you drive to Beaminster or Bridport - in particular, the Iron Age hill fort on Eggardon Hill has spectacular views over the county and is a good destination for walkers.
Hooke is very conveniently placed for most of West Dorset's attractions. The pretty town of Beaminster is only a few miles away (very convenient for shopping), and there is much to discover in the towns of Bridport and Dorchester which are both within twenty minute's drive. A traditional British seaside experience is also close at hand: West Bay, Bridport's harbour, is a popular destination, as is Weymouth, a pleasant half-hour's drive along the breathtaking coast road.
You're guaranteed a warm welcome from Hooke when you come to stay!
