About Cathy Radford

We've spent 33 years working abroad in various countries and always looked forward to returning to our cosy cottage with it sunset views. Most of the paintings, drawings and photos decorating the cottage were done by our daughter when at school, reflecting our homes in East Africa and Japan.

We're now retired and live part time in New Zealand, southern Europe and England.

Cathy Radford purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Cathy Radford chose Minchinhampton

We like walking and searched extensively to find a cosy stone cottage with unspoilt rural views in the Five Valleys area near Minchinhamton and Rodborough Commons and Stroud.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is cool in summer and warm in winter with sunset views all year round. Enjoy the fascinating views from every room whatever the weather outside.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"The accommodation was absolutely splendid with the kitchen a sheer delight. Everything that was required in a letting was readily available. The views from the kitchen window were uplifting on the dreariest of days. The garden was very bird friendly and we were greeted each morning with a dawn chorus. We were grateful for the tea/coffee and biscuits on arrival. We would highly recommend this letting." David 16/03/12

"Really gorgeous place to stay. Everything we needed and views to die for. Such a pretty place & super towns to see." Ann 21/10/12

"Wonderful stay. Whole family loved the incredible views & cosy accommodation. The children had great fun exploring Minchinhampton Common. We'd love to come back again." Katie 21/02/13

Quiet Detached Cottage with Stunning Sunsets, 180 Views from all rooms & patio
average rating of 4.75 based on 17 reviews

Spacious, homely property with stunning views.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was clean and tidy with a lovely spacious kitchen, catering well for family cooking. A large relaxing sitting room with snug/library perfect for a quiet read and peaceful 'get away' or family music session. Every meal time was enhanced by the stunning views. Unfortunately we never saw the sunset as the weather was dull and cloudy.

We enjoyed walking up to the common via Amberley, where the grandsons played football and observed the wildlife. On the down side, we did not receive a warm welcome at the Amberley Inn, possibly as we had come off the common and were wearing hoodies as it was a cold evening. Too cold to sit outside, no room in the lounge and not allowed to sit in the Public Bar which we were informed was for locals only. Possibly better to eat there and look smart!

The owner of the cottage was very obliging and overall, we found it the perfect base to be able to spend time with my family who live locally. Also plenty to do in and around the area for anyone who is on holiday.

A great holiday cottage

  • 5 of 5

There was everything in the cottage that was needed and the view is wonderful. Nothing more relaxing after a day's sightseeing than sitting outside with a few nibbles and a drink and unwinding.
