About the property

Sea View House, 5* Majestic views over Atlantic Ocean, Secluded, Beaches Closeby

Sea View House has majestic views over the Atlantic Ocean in front of the House. A house full of wellness, luxury and relaxation, perfect for a honeymoon couple, or sleeping max. of 4 adults in 2 ensuite bedrooms.

The house was recently graded :"an outstanding 5 star award for it's extremely overall high standard".

The House has a large homy luxury kitchen of course with a dishwasher, a coffee machine, wood burning stove, large LED TV, DVD player, wifi and design leather furnishings.

Go through the front hall with toilet and you'll find the large luxury lounge with Castle fireplace and another wood burning stove, lovely seatings with again window seats to enjoy the amazing sea views and stairs going up to the bedrooms with ensuite bathroom.

Hebridean wild life you'll see in Sea View House, we have commissioned a local professional artist whom painted beautiful waterlilies on the bathroom floor. Puffins have found a spot over the bed. Highland mum and calf are in the Machair full of wild flowers looking at you from a large mural in the lounge, whilst a real size 'Famous' Grouse might watch you enjoying a whisky from the Harris distillery hiding next to the Castle fire place..

Upstairs, the large master bedroom under the eaves with a super kingsize bed with memory foam mattress, double marble washbasin and further an ensuite bathroom with a Double Jacuzzi, large Shower, infra red Sauna for 2 are adding to a feel of wellness for a completely relaxing stay.. The velux windows are placed high for privacy and having stunning views towards the Uists.

Light the wood burning stove and install yourselves in one of the the window seats with a cup of tea. The hours will be passing by watching the skies and seeing the colour of the waters change from dark grey to turquoise blue. Probably you'll see a Seal popping up it's head, definitely many Gannets will be diving for their food in the distance. A telescope in the house allows you to watch them from close by.

After long beach walks, it is great to take a bath in the large Double Jacuzzi bubbling away, maybe with some bubblies on the side too, or enjoying the infrared Sauna for more wellness. The large shower is decorated with Sea wildlife.

The ever changing light on the water, you will hear the call of the Seals as they have a 'pecking' order which male has the best rock when the tide is rising.

A huge male Otter living near the house, sourcing his food at the old jetty in front of the house, wildlife around you, just relax....

Sea View house is located at a perfect spot to explore the amazing west coast of Harris. Harris is one of Europe’s last undeveloped ocean locations and high on the list for having the most beautiful beaches in the world.

This unique house is built by Harris’ best stonemason building it in a special pattern of the Lewisian Gneiss, Precambrian metamorphic rock and is located 20 m. from the oceanfront.

The specially designed window seats were made of the old V-lining combined with driftwood. You love it seeing the dynamic weather patterns altering the Atlantic from calm waters, to a stirring wild storm with high waves rolling on and then hitting the shore.

Information about the surroundings: Strond/Sranna in Gaelic is surrounded by some of Britain’s most beautiful and unspoilt beaches. Great for beach- and hill walking, surfing, mountain biking and fishing, the way unwind and relax. The nearest beach is just a five-ten drive from the cottage, one of many famous beaches. Golf 9 min. drive away. The house is a detached house overlooking the tidal waters of the ocean. The waters between South Harris and the Uists consist of many little islands, all remote are habited by a large variety of birds, seals and is named the Sound of Harris. Last winter a pilot whale and Arctic Beluga washed ashore and in summer a Minky whale calf was trapped in the harbour with many kayakers we guided her out:-)

About Sue

when we bought the house it was completely stripped, so within the house it is all new, but we reclaimed the old V-lining and put hard work, love and beautiful sealife features in. Washed ashore large timbers from Canada are used, wood from the mill at Stornoway and we made sure, it is optimal isolated for comfortable warmth and a luxury bath, sauna and large shower for a wellness feeling after long walks at the beaches. further the theme is Sea life and Harris. The magic of the place needed to be resembled as you can see in the paintings, murals, floors and ceilings. this house was built with LOVE to give you a deep relaxing feeling, a holiday you will never forget, being special at the edge of the world where life is till beautiful and the the planet unspoilt.

Why Sue chose Isle of Harris

This property is a great base to explore the islands, near the beaches, views to the ocean, we were enchanted by this and we hope you are too.

What makes this villa unique

The Isle of Harris is unique, special, magical, very fast changing skies, it is a place not for Sissies. You'll meet yourself again, here life is not about what car you drive, if your make up is still fine, you can be yourself without a mask and feel the power and beauty of nature as it was millions of years ago and how it hopefully will be thousands of years ahead.

Perfect situation with the most wonderful views of any Cottage I have stayed in.

  • 5 of 5

Sea View House was absolutely ideal for our holiday needs. Masses of everyday living space, very comfortable space to relax in and enjoy the wonderful views especially from the picture windows. We have never been so relaxed! We really had to wrench ourselves away from Harris and Sea View House. Great base to explore the islands from, we ate the most wonderful sea food and lamb at the local restaurant at the end of each day, just the most perfect way to relax after a days exploring. Best get away from it all break we have honestly ever had.

Owner's Response: We think holidays at Harris is all about relaxing, exploring and charging the batteries with new energy, through lovely walks at empty beaches, experiencing the unspoilt nature of Harris, space to breath and a luxurious house to stay. You seem to have enjoyed it all Martin, which is what we hope for every guest coming! Thank you for such a lovely review, written from the heart!

A house with a soul

  • 5 of 5

Spacious, artistic, very luxurious house by the sea side. The comfortable window seats make it easy to sit there all day and watch the ever changing skies, time just passes you by.

The house is so special with murals of Hebridean wildlife. It truly is a house with a soul. It was hard to leave, going home. Next time we’ll stay for 2 weeks at Harris and walk again at the white beaches and make another 1000 pictures of the turquoise seas. How we have enjoyed our stay!

Beautifully finished house in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We were greated with a warm welcome from the owners Suzan & Jan who are such a lovely couple and werevery informative and friendly. We count ourselves so lucky to have found Sea View House and it was exactly as described on the website, unique in its amazing decor, very comfortable & relaxing with luxury features , amazing uninterupted views to sea and an ideal base to explore. The standard of decor was very high with many home features & works of art created by the immensley talented & creative owners. The property was spotless clean and equipted with all mod cons. It was just fantastic to come home from a long day walking the many fabulous beaches and then warming our bones in the sauna before a soak in the jacuzzi then sitting relaxing by the window admiring the view with a nice glass of red with the log fire flickering away in the back ground..just heaven.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Sea View House and hope to be back again sometime soon..dont look any further, this is where you need to stay...excellent value and thoroughly recommended.

You wont be dissapointed.

Absolutely stunning and inspiring basecamp !

  • 5 of 5

Was lucky enough to spend a week at Sea View in mid September 2017, absolutely the perfect anchor to return to after a day enjoying everything Harris has to offer.

The house itself is perfectly placed, with two stunning windows framing an ever-changing seaview. Very hard to leave the window seats each morning ! The house is finished to an excellent standard and well deserves the 5 stars. The talent and vision which Suzan and Jan have put into the house is incredible – I’ll not spoil the amazing back stories which come with each item of furniture, decoration or piece of art – you can discover yourself when you arrive. If you love wood …. you will be in your element.

We never made it out to eat in the evenings – the house was so well equipped for cooking, and the views better then any restaurant could offer - the local shop in Leverburgh is well stocked, and of course you have an unlimited supply of fresh seafood if you visit the harbour…

With personal preferences towards walking, cycling and bodyboarding – there was more than enough to fill a week in South Harris itself, never felt the need to venture further (… and yet still more remains unexplored)

Highlights for me included:

• Beaches at Northton (especially Triaigh na Cleabihaig, where two dolphins joined for bodyboarding fun)

• Walking the Coffin Road (if you like a crime thriller - recommend you read Peter May’s book ‘The Coffin Road’ while you are visiting – there is a copy kindly available in Sea View)

• Ceapabhal for a lovely hill walk – stunning views for a relatively short (but steep) walk

• Cycling the Golden Road - much easier to stop and admire the views than trying to park a car. (…my word the seals !!)

• The Mission House Studio, Finsbay – incredible photographs and ceramic art

• Harris Gin – a purchase straight off the ferry provided a welcome treat to return to every evening.

• Evening walks to Rodel with the friendly sheep.

• The Butty Bus – Leverburgh Pier – superb Fried Egg rolls

• Croft 36 – Northton – lovely homemade bread .

• The weather - sunrises, sunsets and rainbows - unlimited.

Oh, and as for the sauna and jacuzzi … what better way to relax the muscles after a day exploring … and to think I was going to camp !

If you are thinking of visiting Harris - do not hesitate in booking Sea View – you will not be disappointed; Suzan and Jan have thought of absolutely everything. Absolutely !
