This period semi-detached holiday cottage overlooks the beautiful Axe Valley and is just one mile from the popular holiday resort of Seaton, on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Bryher is 4 star rated with Visit England. It is located in the village of Colyford, which is a situated near the border of East Devon and West Dorset, just 7 miles from Sidmouth and 7 miles from Lyme Regis. The area is a quiet, peaceful location where you can get-away-from-it-all and relax amongst beautiful rolling countryside and lovely beaches. Colyford boasts a lovely well stocked friendly village shop/PO, just a 5 minute walk, where you can go in for the morning papers and come out with a local pie for lunch and a bottle of wine for the evening. Buy some of the fantastic produce at the butchers for a barbecue in the garden or visit one of the 2 village pubs which both serve food. Bryher is a 5 minute walk to the Seaton wetlands centre where you can walk into Seaton and visit the Jurassic centre and ride the tram. There are plenty of attractions for young and not so young: Pecorama in Beer with its beautiful landscaping around their miniature steam railway is a must day out. Seaton has its own tram which you can see crossing the valley from the vantage point of the garden, you can even drive a tram if you book in advance. Bicton park, Escot and Killerton house all have something to offer and if you come in the autumn there will be a carnival in a Devon village somewhere to experience. Bryher is situated in a beautiful area where you can enjoy the local pleasures of walking the South West Coastal Path, fossil hunting at Lyme Regis, stopping for a fresh crab sandwich on Beer beach or a cream tea in Sidmouth after scouring the antique shops in Honiton for a bargain.

About Stephanie Sawer
We moved to East Devon 21 years ago and have raised our family here. It is a beautiful part of England as the climate is mild and the pace of life is slower. We bought and renovated Bryher 13 years ago and have had guests staying and enjoying the surroundings since then. Many of our guests are repeat visitors who enjoy the opportunity to relax and refresh.
Stephanie Sawer purchased this House in 2005
Why Stephanie Sawer chose Colyford
Bryher is situated in a beautiful part of the Jurassic Coast. It looks out over farmland with uninterrupted views along the river Axe to the sea at Seaton. It is easy to get to the seaside towns in the immediate area and for more culture or shopping then Exeter is just a 35 minute drive.
What makes this House unique
Bryher is conveniently situated close to the sea at Seaton ( 1 mile away), yet it's village location gives easy walking access to the 2 village pubs which offer food and a friendly, well stocked corner shop with deli /P O and butcher's. Seaton also offers a gym with daily membership and water sports from the beach.

Beautiful family home
Loved this imaculate, peaceful house with beautiful views. Location was perfect for visiting lots of surrounding areas. Our cockapoo was welcome and he had a great time too! Would most definitely return and recommend to others. Thanks for having us!
I am so pleased you enjoyed your New Year's break at Bryher and hopefully returned to the world recharged. Thank you for leaving Bryher in a very clean state...... you are most welcome to return whenever you wish to explore more of beautiful East Devon and Dartmoor.
For the fifth time we stayed at Bryher, a very nice and well equiped cottage. The cottage has a lovely garden with a stunning view. We stayed for ten days and enjoyed every day: having coffee at the Hideaway at Seaton beach, walking to Beer, visiting and lunching at Lyme Regis, doing the four hour walk to the Golden Cap, the Otterton Coast walk to Ladram Bay and visiting the Burrow Farm Gardens at Dalwood. This time we also took the tram from Seaton to Colyton and walked back home.
Bryher is a perfect place to stay in a beautifull area and we can recommand it to everybody.
I am pleased that you have enjoyed another stay at Bryher, visiting old haunts and enjoying walks along the Jurassic coast. The view from Golden Cap is spectacular. We are very fortunate that there are so many lovely things to do and see in the area or just sit in the garden and relax with a good book..... that's what holidays are for.
A tranquil spot perfectly situated
Beautiful old property with a gorgeous garden featuring a sea view. Everything we needed was provided, with lots of toys and even a dedicated play room which our toddler adored.
The village of Colyford is very pretty and friendly with a post office shop and butchers which is extremely well stocked.
We ate at the Wheelwright Inn one evening and enjoyed our meals and the friendly customer service.
We hopped on the scenic Seaton tramway as it stopped in Colyford, visited Lyme Regis for its sandy beach and went to Pecorama, which was a great family day out. All of these were very short journeys away - less than 20 minutes by car.
We would recommend Brother to anyone and hope to return soon.
We are pleased that you enjoyed a lovely holiday at Bryher discovering local attractions --- the Seaton tramway is certainly a delight for all ages. The village shop surpasses expectations and the owners stock locally produced food and wine which complements the excellent meat at the butcher.
We look forward to seeing you again at Bryher.
A cosy haven
The cottage was everything we had hoped for. Bigger if anything, whilst still being homely and cosy. It was very clean with top quality utensils and John Lewis bedding.
Stephanie was very discreet and only popped round once at our request (to try and book again for next year). She kindly supplied extra logs/coal because I'd mentioned how much I loved the open fire.
We are familiar with the area and the walk-to pubs are very good as is the corner shop/local butchers. A mega friendly store selling good quality local produce, newspapers and Post Office.
I have already recommended Bryher to friends and family and would love to go back.
we had an absolutely lovely Wedding Anniversary here and the Welcome Pack was very generous too. Thank you. Marie, Jeremy and we Gracie
I am so pleased you enjoyed your celebration week here at Bryher. The village shop is a bonus with the range of local and artisanal products as well as milk and bread and wine. Thank you for leaving Bryher so clean and tidy, we look forward to seeing you at a future date.
Warm and Welcoming
When I found Bryher, it was exactly what I had been looking for. It is in a stunning location, was an excellent size and standard of accommodation and we were able to take our cocker spaniel with us. After following the excellent instructions and directions provided, we arrived to find that the property was exactly as described and that the owners had a rare attention to detail that meant we relaxed as soon as we opened the door. Exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained and furnished throughout it was none the less comfortable and relaxing with a most welcoming atmosphere. The owner's response of 'Just beach towels and things for the dog' to my query of 'What should I bring' was found to be more accurate than I could have dreamt of. Absolutely everything that any family could need is provided at Bryher - even down to a pair of binoculars hanging in the veranda / conservatory. There were even spare bulbs for every light in the house - listed and labelled - as I found when the hall light went during our stay. The guest information folder is very comprehensive and helped us in planning our daily excursions. Although I was a bit apprehensive about cooking (breakfast only!!!!) on the Rayburn, I found it a joy to use. All other meals were eaten out - we enjoyed the pub food at the Wheelwright, which is in walking distance and can really recommend The Ship at Axmouth, which we went to twice. I loved their crab salad, but whatever you choose, expect to experience food envy when you see any other dishes delivered to the table or passing by. There are some lovely places to visit in the area and we were delighted that virtually everywhere was 'dog friendly' so that we never had to leave the dog behind although we had taken her crate with us just in case. All of the local beaches are pebbles, as you expect in this area, but a short drive further east - maybe to Charmouth, where we spent a lovely day - will take you to a sandy beach. I would definitely recommend this property and would love to be able to return at some point in the future.
Thank you for your kind review about your enjoyable stay at Bryher.
We like to equip the house with items that we need when we go away on holiday and this helps to make the holiday run more smoothly.
May I thank you for leaving Bryher so clean and tidy. Looking forward to seeing you when you next need a break on the Jurassic coast.
Fabulous holiday property.
We had a wonderful stay at Bryer . It was a home from home with so much attention to detail. The welcome pack of milk, wine, biscuits, fudge and chocolate were lovely touches as were the fresh flowers!
The decor was very tasteful and the location just perfect ... Up a quiet lane with ample parking and with the sea visible in the distance.
The house was extremely well equipped with plenty of crockery, glasses , tea towels etc and the tea, coffee , sugar and other staples in the cupboard was another bonus.
We would definitely recommend Bryer ( although not suitable for anyone who couldn't climb into the bath as there is no shower cubicle) and we hope to return!
Thank you for your kind comments about your stay at Bryher.
We like to make guests feel welcome and able to relax quickly, especially after a long journey, when a cup of tea or glass of wine is needed.
