About alice leckie
I co own the property with my partner. We live in Edinburgh a 30 minute drive away, so we are available to assist if there is an emergency. We are both retired
alice leckie purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why alice leckie chose Dunbar
The property has been in the family for 16 years. My partner inherited it in 2013. We are a 30 minute drive away but as soon as we reach Belhaven we are in another world where we can unwind. We love the view standing at our window of The "Big Sky" and the sea, which changes as the tide comes in and out. We are never bored as there are so many places to visit in the area.
What makes this Chalet unique
We love walking on the beach outside our door, walking the east lothian sections of the John Muir Way, visiting quaint villages inland, and the lovely seaside towns of North Berwick, Gullane and Dunbar, finding new coffee shops on our travels and keeping a list, which we are happy to share with our guests. When we are feeling energetic, we walk up Berwick Law or Trapain Law where we have a lovely view of the coast. My partner has recently discovered micro-lighting near the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and has enjoyed seeing the coast from the air.

Perfect spot in Belhaven
We hand a wonderful stay in this chalet in Belhaven. Perfect spot for sunset. Totally equipped for anything you want to do. We would stay here again!
Thank you very much for your review.
We try to ensure the chalet has everything anyone would need who is on holiday, but we are always willing to listen to suggestions
Lovely chalet, great location
Had a lovely stay, chalet well equipped, fabulous location, Archie and Marlowe (the dogs) had a great time on the beach every day, didn’t want to leave.
Thank you for your review.
The beach is indeed a dog's paradise, but humans who enjoy long walks also love it.
great location for 2 grandsons and close enough to Edinborough and surrounding countryside
just enough space for weeks stay. beds and settees comfy. shower could be better. brought some new films to watch at night but hard drive couldn't connect to tv
Perfect location and a lovely well stocked cabin for a seaside holiday
Thank you for your kind review. We try to provide everything our guests will need but are always open to any suggestions, which within reason, we will do our best to accommodate
Had a wonderful stay at the chalet. Loved the tranquility and how close it was to the beach. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much for posting this review. We are very fortunate to own somewhere so close to the sea. We always find when we visit that we immediately begin to chill out as soon as we arrive and although we only live half an hour away, it feels like a different world.
The beach chalet was perfect it was clean, well equipped and it couldn’t have been in a better position. We had breakfast sitting in our cosy chalet then just out of the door across the road and some of the most amazing views I have ever seen and walks along the beach.
Thank you for your kind comments.
Our beach is amazing and will please anyone who loves long walks by the sea.
When it has been explored, there are others just as beautiful, all within the East Lothian area.
We are fortunate to have a parking pass which can be used by our guests which allows free parking in all the East Lothian Council coastal car parks.
The front of the chalet faces Belhaven Bay. It is a wide sandy beach which is popular with surfers and walkers. The appearance of the beach constantly changes with the tide. When the tide is in, the beach is almost completely covered by water and the river leading to the sea becomes a lake.
There is also a beach in Dunbar which is a 20 minute walk or short drive away. The beautiful beaches of Tyningham, Seacliffe, North Berwick, Dirleton and Gullane are a 30-45 minute drive away.
Edinburgh airport is a 45 minute drive. There is a railway station in Dunbar which is on the main London to Edinburgh line. There is a bus service to Edinburgh and the bus stop is only a 5 minute walk away but as the bus takes 70 minutes to Edinburgh it is not recommended.
A car is recommended to be able to access the many sights in East Lothian but those who were keen walkers or cyclists could manage without a car at a push.
Dunbar is a 15 minute walk away. The market town of Haddington is a 15 minute drive away. Tantallon Castle is a 15 minute drive and dirleton castle is a 30 minute drive. The museum of flight at east Fortune is a 20 minute drive away. The sea bird centre at North Berwick is a 20 minute drive away. The East Lothian section of the John Muir Way stretches from Prestonpans along the coast to Dunbar and is a favourite with walkers
Dunbar has several banks, a post office, cafes, pubs, restaurants, a swimming pool which has a wave machine and flumes, harbour and beach. A large Asda is on the outskirts of town.
Dunbar is the home of John Muir and the house of his birth is now a museum in the high street. Entry is free.
The family fun park near West Barns is a 15 minute walk from the property along the John Muir way, or a 2 minute drive. Its a great place for children with an adventure park, a train, an outdoor area with farm animals and a cafe.
There is also a wake boarding school with a café, a 5 minute drive away.
