About Jacki Kynaston

We are a Devon based family and love to escape to Cornwall whenever we can. We have two young adult boys (now 19 and 21) and have been enjoying Cornish breaks with them since they were born, initially starting off in a caravan. Our older children love it too and have started to introduce it to their own children.

Jacki Kynaston purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Jacki Kynaston chose Port Isaac

We fell in love with the ruggedness of Port Isaac on a day trip from the campsite we were staying at when the boys were babies. We decided we would like to own a house in the harbour and completely fell in love with Temple Cottage as soon as we stepped inside. We have owned it for 17 years.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is cosy and peaceful and on a winter's night there is nothing better than getting a good fire roaring. We have installed Sky TV and wi-fi to keep you in touch with the outside world if necessary! The sound of seagulls and the crashing waves and the smell of salty sea-weedy air is a real tonic, as are the cliff walks and stopping for a drink and a chat in a local pub.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have had a fantastic time staying in this quaint cottage in this beautiful village. Thank you for the thoughtful treats on arrival. Watching the filming of Doc Martin was very interesting and we adored the seagulls, especially watching the baby chicks. We shall miss them!

Loved our stay at cosy Temple Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed a few nights stay in Temple Cottage. Tastefully decorated by the owner to retain the olde worlde charm, with comfy bed and super shower. It was very clean, cosy and warm and equipped with everything one could need - even logs in the basket for a cold November evening. It is situated in a perfect position with a few steps to the harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants to mingle with the friendly locals or take one of the coastal walks and see the amazing scenery. Would certainly stay here again when next in this part of the country.

Charming and homely cottage in the middle of a lovely fishing village

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Temple Cottage in the heart of beautiful Port Isaac. Just a short stroll from the harbour, shops and restaurants it was a perfect base for our holiday in Cornwall. The cottage has all the comforts of home and is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Charming cottage, great location

  • 5 of 5

A perfect stay in Port Issac! The cottage is perfectly located in the old town, only a minute walk from the harbour and restaurants. It was clean and very well equipped for our stay, but I think it's time to replace the windows, at least the kitchen and bedroom one's. The loading and unloading works well as discriped from Jacki before. Little tricky but it works. :-) to have the private parking space was very helpfull.

Thanks for the welcome biscuits and bottle of wine. We are looking forward to returning!

Owner's Response: Hello Lars Thank you for your helpful comments and I am so pleased that you had a good stay at Temple Cottage. As the cottage is a listed building, we have a rolling programme of repairs and renovations constantly required and will be looking at replacing the windows in the not too distant future. I think you will agree though that the age of some of these things adds to the appeal! I am glad that you were comfortable in the cottage and we look forward to welcoming you back again one day. Best wishes Jacki

charming cottage with great central location

  • 5 of 5

we had a lovely 5 night stay at the cottage which was clean and very well equipped for our stay. thank you also for the welcome biscuits and bottle of wine which was much appreciated. the included parking space although tight for a large 4x4 was a great bonus as parking is at a premium in port isaac .i also did enjoy watering the hanging baskets each day and chatting to passing people coming through squeeze belly alley which is quite a tourist attraction. so once again thank you jacki for letting us stay in your charming cottage

This our second visit to this wonderful comfy cottage. Lovely location beautiful picturesque village, and we had fantastic weather too. Friday evening was made even more special sitting on the harbour with a drink listening to the 'fishermens friends'. Highly recommend

Port Isaac is a picturesque unspoilt working fishing harbour, situated in a small cove between steep cliffs, on the north coast of Cornwall. The village has narrow alleys and streets of whitewashed cottages and the beach is safe for swimming, crabbing and rock pooling. There are traditional pubs selling local beers and good food, and several restaurants of good local reputation, as well as gift shops, a pottery, a fudge/ice cream shop, a Cornish pasty shop and an excellent fresh fish cellar, with a small aquarium run by the fishermen. You can relax on the beach and watch the fishermen bringing in their day's catch, or you may even like to join in with them singing their popular sea shanties on the beach on a summer's evening. For the more energetic, you may enjoy the many cliff top walks, taking in the beautiful rugged scenery. Local attractions include surfing at Polzeath, the calm waters of Daymer Bay, sailing at Rock, a ferry to Padstow, and Tintagel, Boscastle and the Eden Project.

Other Activities: Cycling on the Camel Trail (a disused railway), Coasteering, Kayaking

Temple Cottage is located in the quiet pedestrian only Dolphin Street and is only seconds from the beach/harbour. On reaching Port Isaac on the B3267, you will see a Co-op on your right (a good place to get supplies), then turn left down into the harbour. Follow the road right down to the bottom and around to the right in front of the cafe and find somewhere to temporarily park and unload. The cottage is at the end of SqueezeBelly Alley (which is to the left of the cafe) on the right, or walk up Middle Street (next to the Lifeboat Station) and turn first left into Dolphin Street, passing 3 houses on the left.

Our parking space is at the top of the village in the old garage which is opposite Trelawney Garage on the road towards Port Gaverne. Our space is outside and to the left of the building and is signed. It is only a short walk from the cottage and can be reached by walking up the road past the shops or by the cliff footpath and then through the council car park.
