Built in 1820 this first floor flat originally formed part of the regional bank manager's apartments (and remains above the Clydesdale bank to this day). Fully and tastefully modernised in recent years, it retains several original features. Its location - on South Street and immediately opposite the historic Holy Trinity Church - places you right at the heart of the beautiful and historic town of St Andrews. Two beaches, the harbour, cathedral and castle, Scotland's oldest university (it recently celebrated 600 years) and the world famous home of golf, the Old Course, are all minutes walk away and you will find an array of interesting shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs almost on your doorstep. At the back of the property, you can enjoy a lovely, secluded garden. This is a perfect base for golfers or for exploring Fife, its fishing villages, Edinburgh, Dundee, Falkland Palace, Glamis Castle or the beautiful Angus Glens. You will have a wonderful holiday here.

  • In bedroom 1, at the front of the property, you can either have 2 single beds, or they can be zipped together to form a large (and comfortable!) double bed. Just ask the owners, when you book, which you would prefer. There is a double bed in bedroom 2 (at the back of the property) and the sofa bed in the living room can provide an additional double bed if required.

There is a lovely, secluded, south-facing garden at the back of the property. Garden chairs, a table and a barbecue are available for the use of visitors. The property is on the first floor (up one flight of stairs). It may not therefore be suitable if you are elderly or infirm.

The location is great but it is a bit small for four people, luggage and golf clubs. Very enjoyable overall.

Could not have been a better location!

This flat was wonderful. It was immaculate, comfortable, and right in the heart of town. The owners left a notebook with manuals for each appliance. It helped a lot! They also responded to emails quickly when I had a question once we arrived. I recommend this location and wish I could have stayed longer. Stay here and treat yourself to the wonderful world of Scotland.

Excellent Stay

This flat is in a perfect location for visiting St. Andrews. There are loads of restaurants and shops just steps away. The flat has high ceilings and feels very spacious with two large windows overlooking South Street. The bedrooms are a good size with adequate closet space. The kitchen has all the amenities you need, including a washing machine. There is a charming garden hidden away in back where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful flowers. The owner is so kind and accommodating and will answer any questions you might have about the flat or the area. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Fabulous location & ideal base for exploring Fife.

The owners were keen to make us feel welcome and provided us with good information. We had a lovely stay and the highlights have to be the central location and charming 'secret garden'. Ideal sized flat for my family of 3. We enjoyed staying in central St Andrews with easy access to golf, shops and beach. The flat also offers the use of a delightful garden, wonderful to read in on a sunny day. The owners had kindly supplied some welcome extras to make us feel welcome: wine, coffee and toiletries.

Although not a luxury spec apartment, it has good sized neutral rooms with lovely large windows. We had the 2 rooms made up as double bedrooms and these were of an adequate size for our stay. The bathroom is a little tired and lacks storage, but functional. The flat benefits from a washing machine and reasonable selection of kitchen equipment. I did miss my tumble dryer and dish washer, but for a weeks break it was fine. It does have a flight of stairs up to the flat and this was fine for us, but may be an issue for carrying heavy golf bags up and down if less agile.

To enable visitors to keep the flat clean it would be helpful to have a more powerful Hoover?

Overall a good flat, and we would certainly recommend as it is a super base for golfing, exploring St Andrews and Fife. We certainly hope to return.
