Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Taranto - Trullo Tramonto

3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and pool with external kitchen, dining & sitting areas

Trullo Tramonto has been beautifully redesigned and restored by a Milanese architect to an exceptionally high standard and sits on a hillside in a quiet countryside location.

The house is known for its beautiful views and sunsets (tramonto being Italian for sunset).

The gorgeous 13 metre infinity-edged swimming pool with shallow beach area gives the opportunity to cool off whilst enjoying the views.

The trullo has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms one of which is ensuite.

In addition to the open plan living/dining area and the well equipped marble topped adjoining kitchen, the trullo has an internal 'cave room' providing an additional cool living space.

Externally there is a shaded sitting area (ideally situated to enjoy the amazing sunsets over Martina Franca and Locorotondo) a kitchen/dining area, with a stunning stone dining table, sink and BBQ.

The well established garden has many fruit trees including cherry, apricot, plum, peach, apple, fig, pomegranate, sharon fruit, mulberry, olive and almond and a well stocked herb garden.

About Tracy

We live in the UK and have 2 teenage daughters. My husbands family are originally from Bari and he enjoyed many family holidays there when he was growing up. When we were first married we enjoyed vacations in Italy but once the girls were born decided to buy a place ourselves. We lived here for a couple of years, the girls went to school in Martina Franca and now speak Italian fluently. We enjoy travelling, cooking and eating out but love walking and running too! When we lived here we grew our own artichokes, fennel, tomatoes and salads - the herb garden is still thriving. I welcome enquiries and enjoy speaking to guests and helping them plan their vacation.

Why Tracy chose Taranto

Our Trullo has beautiful views and is in a great location, quiet and off the beaten track but just a few minutes drive from Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ceglia Messapica and Locorotondo - three of these lovely hill towns we can see from our house! Ostuni and Alberobello aren't too far either.

We have lots of comments from guests at how homely and comfortable it is. We enjoy sharing our favourite places to visit and our latest restaurant finds. We love it here and want our guests to love it too!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We must admit to a feeling of sadness as we prepare for our departure to Rome. We have had a wonderful honeymoon in Trullo Tramonto with a perfect balance of exciting food, vivid sunsets and relaxing conversations beside the pool; all this amongst the heady aroma of a Mediterranean herb garden and idyllic Trullo!

We used a few sprigs of basil on our first evening and we took the liberty of planting some more! We hope they thrive!

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for sharing your home with us. The collection of guides, cook books and personal recommendations makes this place even more enchanting. Thanks also for leaving us lunch for our arrival, it was lovely!

We wouldn't hesitate in giving you 5 stars!

With our very best wishes ,

Charismatic property in a unique, tranquil region

  • 5 of 5

Without fail the many, varied places to visit in Puglia are a welcome treat and are all accessible within an hour or so by car.

From the magnificent white cities raised high above a surprisingly flat landscape to the unerring and impossibly-straight Appian Way connecting Rome to Brindisi the surrounding area of Puglia, filled with Trullis at every turn, never disappoints.

The property itself is fitted to a noticeably high standard and was spotlessly clean for our stay. The beautifully designed pool being the cleanest in terms of leaves and floating detritus, presumably because of the expensive and therefore performant filtering system, of our last three holiday villas.

The inclusion of mosquito-netted doors, atmospheric lightning, roof access and comfortable, modern bathrooms make this Trulli one that we hope to be visiting again soon.

Owner's Response: We look forward to your next visit. The spring and early summer are great times to stay too when the apricots and cherries are delicious! I'm hoping you didn't miss the pomegranate tree in the garden this season! Thank you for your review.

Fabulous House in Puglia!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a beautiful week in Trullo Tramonto. The property has a spectacular view of the sunset as it drops over the hills. The house itself is beautifully designed and well appointed, with large comfortable beds and lovely bedding. We are a family of 6 and were very comfortable, with plenty of room to unpack etc. We loved spending our time by the infinity pool and out on the terrace. The outside kitchen was very convenient as we cooked and ate all our meals outside at the stone table. The surrounding area was a joy to explore. We will be back!

The most relaxing holiday ever

  • 5 of 5

It has been hard for me to get round to writing this as every time I start I go to the other dreamy world of Trullo Tramanto and just sit remembering the most amazing time we had as a family of 4 (2 children aged 17 and 20). I was slightly concerned that our children would get bored but how wrong was I. Yes loved every minute just learning how to slow down and relax without all the mod cons of their lives in the uk. Even the wi fi was relaxed!!! No tv! We talked with each other and laughed! little things which are so important as the children start to separate from you. The food was delicious and not a burger or chip passed our lips. We loved the pool and the feeling of having no one leas around for miles. We loved the small towns and friendly Italians. We loved the supermarket at the end of the road. We loved everything and everywhere. A truly magical Trullo in a truly magical area of Italy. We are so pleased to have been there. Puglia needs to be on everyones bucket list.

With panoramic views of Martina Franca, Locorotondo & Cisternino, the trullo is set amongst olive and almond groves alongside the Itria Valley in Puglia, a World Heritage site.

The popular hill towns of Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino & Ceglie Messapica are all within a short drive away and are full of wonderful restaurants, bars & shops including locally produced ceramics, baskets and jewellery. The “Florence of the South”, Lecce is just 1 hours drive offering stunning Baroque architecture.

Beaches on the Adriatic coast (both sandy or rocky) are less than half an hour drive, whilst the stunning sandy Ionian coast is just a little further towards the south.

Known as the “garden of Italy” Puglia is renowned for it's local produce supplying the rest of Italy with fruit & vegetables. Local meat from the countryside & fish on the coast is highly regarded not forgetting the rich red wines of Salento & Manduria and crisp white wines from Locorotondo.

Golf: There are 2 golf courses in the area; San Domenico Golf Course and Coccaro Golf Club close to the pretty fishing village of Savelletri, on the Adriatic coast.

There is a well stocked mini-market and coffee bar just down the lane, 1 km away. Directions and details of local markets, restaurants and towns are all provided in the trullo.
