Trullo Tramonto has been beautifully redesigned and restored by a Milanese architect to an exceptionally high standard and sits on a hillside in a quiet countryside location.
The house is known for its beautiful views and sunsets (tramonto being Italian for sunset).
The gorgeous 13 metre infinity-edged swimming pool with shallow beach area gives the opportunity to cool off whilst enjoying the views.
The trullo has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms one of which is ensuite.
In addition to the open plan living/dining area and the well equipped marble topped adjoining kitchen, the trullo has an internal 'cave room' providing an additional cool living space.
Externally there is a shaded sitting area (ideally situated to enjoy the amazing sunsets over Martina Franca and Locorotondo) a kitchen/dining area, with a stunning stone dining table, sink and BBQ.
The well established garden has many fruit trees including cherry, apricot, plum, peach, apple, fig, pomegranate, sharon fruit, mulberry, olive and almond and a well stocked herb garden.
We live in the UK and have 2 teenage daughters. My husbands family are originally from Bari and he enjoyed many family holidays there when he was growing up. When we were first married we enjoyed vacations in Italy but once the girls were born decided to buy a place ourselves. We lived here for a couple of years, the girls went to school in Martina Franca and now speak Italian fluently. We enjoy travelling, cooking and eating out but love walking and running too! When we lived here we grew our own artichokes, fennel, tomatoes and salads - the herb garden is still thriving. I welcome enquiries and enjoy speaking to guests and helping them plan their vacation.
Our Trullo has beautiful views and is in a great location, quiet and off the beaten track but just a few minutes drive from Martina Franca, Cisternino, Ceglia Messapica and Locorotondo - three of these lovely hill towns we can see from our house! Ostuni and Alberobello aren't too far either.
We have lots of comments from guests at how homely and comfortable it is. We enjoy sharing our favourite places to visit and our latest restaurant finds. We love it here and want our guests to love it too!
We must admit to a feeling of sadness as we prepare for our departure to Rome. We have had a wonderful honeymoon in Trullo Tramonto with a perfect balance of exciting food, vivid sunsets and relaxing conversations beside the pool; all this amongst the heady aroma of a Mediterranean herb garden and idyllic Trullo!
We used a few sprigs of basil on our first evening and we took the liberty of planting some more! We hope they thrive!
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for sharing your home with us. The collection of guides, cook books and personal recommendations makes this place even more enchanting. Thanks also for leaving us lunch for our arrival, it was lovely!
We wouldn't hesitate in giving you 5 stars!
With our very best wishes ,
What a great surprise it was to arrive at the Trullo, we didn’t know what to expect and we certainly weren’t disappointed! Our first impressions were that it was so peaceful and quiet, very clean, extremely well equipped with beautiful linens in the bedrooms, everything you could want in the kitchen, and we particularly loved the ‘Welcome Hamper’ and lovely toiletries, what a special touch!
When we contacted the owner, Tracy, she was very helpful and couldn’t have done enough to make our stay comfortable and hassle free. She had many suggestions about places to visit and where to eat and they all turned out to be just what we would have chosen ourselves. We would definitely return and would highly recommend it as a wonderful, relaxing yet exciting family holiday.
The trullo was very well presented and fully fitted so that we were relaxing within minutes of arrival. The welcome basket was a lovely touch from the owner Tracy. We also loved the rosemary and lavender fragrance around the garden.
This was our second stay in Puglia and this time nestled between Martina Franca, Cisternino and Ostuni enabled great eating out and shopping excursions when not ensconced by the pool. Ice cream take away is recommended for sunset watching across the valley from the house - may be accompanied by something a little stronger to drink !
We will definitely be booking again.
This was our third visit to the Trullo, the first time was 4 years ago in August, then 2 years ago in May and this year in September. We spent a blissfully relaxing week basking in the late summer sun. We were able to spend time outside enjoying the landscape and we even had a barbecue one day. Thank you Tracy for all your help and advice about places to visit and restaurant recommendations, you even suggested a very good hairdresser for us! Will definitely be booking again as we still have so much we want to do in this area.
A wonderful setting in the heart of the countryside. The Trullo and gardens have been beautifully designed and are immaculate. We really enjoyed afternoons around the pool and eating outside. The two local towns (Martina Franca and Cisternino) are both charming with many good places to eat and buy provisions. Our first holiday in Puglia and we plan to return!
Staying in this beautiful trullo was such a treat for our family of four (including two hard-to-please teens). So often in Italy you arrive to find the accommodation you carefully searched for on the internet is nothing like the photos and not up to the standard described, but Trullo Tramonti is an absolute DREAM: well-designed, tastefully decorated, well appointed and immaculately clean. The pool was a Godsend - so much so we were reluctant to leave it even to get provisions from the nearby mini-market (great coffee and deli/lunch stuff, btw). The location is perfect - peaceful and secluded, surrounded by olive and fruit trees, looking out toward the white hill towns. We really appreciated the food and wine to welcome us on arrival. Caretakers Sarah and Nick were great - very responsive when a couple of minor things popped up, as was the owner who provided us with some great tips on where to eat locally etc. I would go back tomorrow if I could!
Without fail the many, varied places to visit in Puglia are a welcome treat and are all accessible within an hour or so by car.
From the magnificent white cities raised high above a surprisingly flat landscape to the unerring and impossibly-straight Appian Way connecting Rome to Brindisi the surrounding area of Puglia, filled with Trullis at every turn, never disappoints.
The property itself is fitted to a noticeably high standard and was spotlessly clean for our stay. The beautifully designed pool being the cleanest in terms of leaves and floating detritus, presumably because of the expensive and therefore performant filtering system, of our last three holiday villas.
The inclusion of mosquito-netted doors, atmospheric lightning, roof access and comfortable, modern bathrooms make this Trulli one that we hope to be visiting again soon.
With panoramic views of Martina Franca, Locorotondo & Cisternino, the trullo is set amongst olive and almond groves alongside the Itria Valley in Puglia, a World Heritage site.
The popular hill towns of Ostuni, Martina Franca, Cisternino & Ceglie Messapica are all within a short drive away and are full of wonderful restaurants, bars & shops including locally produced ceramics, baskets and jewellery. The “Florence of the South”, Lecce is just 1 hours drive offering stunning Baroque architecture.
Beaches on the Adriatic coast (both sandy or rocky) are less than half an hour drive, whilst the stunning sandy Ionian coast is just a little further towards the south.
Known as the “garden of Italy” Puglia is renowned for it's local produce supplying the rest of Italy with fruit & vegetables. Local meat from the countryside & fish on the coast is highly regarded not forgetting the rich red wines of Salento & Manduria and crisp white wines from Locorotondo.
Golf: There are 2 golf courses in the area; San Domenico Golf Course and Coccaro Golf Club close to the pretty fishing village of Savelletri, on the Adriatic coast.
