About Dee and Peter Smith
Peter and Dee Smith. We moved to Wales in 1996. We started off as smallholders but decided simply to share our lovely location with others. The Holiday Cottage was an old Barn when we moved in containing nothing more than a vintage Rolls Royce which was worth more than the cottage itself. Sadly the previous owners moved it before we arrived. We have a couple of dogs, an old Jack Russell called Bod and a middle aged Lurcher called Lucy. Bod potters around all day but Lucy is always supervised as she has a taste for my chickens! At present we have three cats and our fields are full of ewes and lambs and cattle. These change with the seasons. The Barn has been a holiday cottage for seven years now and we look forward to many more lovely guests arriving in the future The main cottage at Tyn-y-fron recently featured on BBC Wales Coming Home as the former home of the great grandfather of Welsh Athlete Iwan Thomas.

This cottage was just perfect.
The cottage is quaint and has everything you need to enjoy your stay in this idyllic area. We were lucky enough to have very good weather and the evenings were spent on the veranda having a little wine and a bbq looking at the stunning views.. The hosts Peter and Dee are lovely people and very helpful. They are very knowledgeable of the area.
I would highly recommend this property .
Cosy barn with amazing views!
The place was perfect, really cosy and beautifully situated in the most amazing landscape. We got there really late and Dee was very gracious and helpful with directions, plus as we arrived at night we had the bonus of seeing the view for the first time the next morning. The weather was glorious, which helped too, thanks for arranging that! No internet and we couldn't get the TV to work, but that suited us fine as we wanted to get away.
Thank you for your kind comments. I am really sorry about the TV. Perhaps you should have let us know and we would have helped. Seems to be working perfectly now so I don't know what the problem was. As for internet. It is available on 4g by your phone and can be accessed sometimes near the large picture window. Just one of the small inconveniences of living on a mountain!
Very peaceful place with an amazing view
Cosy and peaceful with stunning views
After all of the build up to Christmas we wanted to escape to some peace and quiet and could not have picked a more perfect place. Dee and Peter are lovely people and make sure you receive a warm welcome. We enjoyed lots of walks with our 2 dogs. The location is great as only a short drive to Bala lake in one direction and Llangollen in the other. The property is very clean but does tend to get warm with the heating especially the bathroom, however this was great on cold nights. Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend a stay.
A wonderful, restful stay!
A warm welcome to a snug hideaway overlooking the beautiful Dee Valley. Perfect for the two of us and Oz the choccy lab to spend a peaceful Christmas. Thanks to our hosts for making it a perfect break!
Thank you. We are so glad you enjoyed your Christmas at Tyn-y-fron. Perhaps when you come here again we will have snow on the hills!
