Overview

About the property

1 bdrm, sleeping loft, 1 bthrm, laundry, full kitchen, screened porch, sleeps 5

Situated on 35 acres of pristine creek front property , our stone cottage /cabin is surrounded by woods and pasture. 12 Stones Farm is extremely private and peaceful, yet easily accessible. Also experience a touch of farm life with chickens, milk cows and more! With private access to 1/4 mi of Swan Creek, and only 30 minutes to Branson and Silver Dollar City, this cabin is a hidden gem. Dine in the screen porch and listen to the water and wildlife. Fishing, canoeing and wading are right out your back door with private access.

The kitchen is equipped with gas range, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and coffee (French press or drip), blender, plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. The country harvest table is a welcoming place to gather for meals as well as a variety of board games provided for your enjoyment.

The centrally located living room is heated with a beautiful thermostatically controlled pellet stove situated on an old stone hearth offering plenty of cozy atmosphere and warmth.

The master bedroom has two beds, a queen and twin, with cotton sheets and memory foam pillows . Open the old European style windows for fresh country air or use the A/C if you prefer. Enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub on the covered porch located through the French doors just outside the master bedroom.

Additional space is located in the sleeping loft, overlooking the living room. Two twin beds accommodate an additional two guests. A dormer window makes for a quaint reading nook looking out to the creek.

The bathroom includes a large brick and glass block walk-in shower, toilet and antique vanity. Plenty of towels and handmade soaps are within reach.

For an authentic Ozark experience, a private refreshing outdoor shower is provided.

A complete laundry room is open to our guests. Bring your own detergent of choice.

12 Stones Guest Farm is a place to get away from the overwhelming world of electronics and chaos . We purposefully do not have a television or internet. We encourage our guests to take advantage of the beauty and serenity God has provided right outside the door of the cabin. Cell phone service is available.

A campfire ring (firewood included) and benches , picnic table and gas grill are all there. Look for the complementary S'more supply basket in the kitchen. No city lights will encumber your view of the stars and no traffic noise will eclipse the nightly sounds of owls and bullfrogs.

Don't forget to check out the outdoor game box located on the screen porch: Croquet, Frisbee, horseshoes, football, and bocce ball just to name a few. Then relax in the hammock or porch swing with a book about homesteading or small farming available from the bookshelf in the cabin. You can even take the lawn chairs to the creek and cool your toes!

About Hope and Eric Bright

We have been married 35 years and always embraced the rural life. We enjoy raising our own food and sharing our experiences with others. From poultry, dairy, beef, gardening and building, we continue to enjoy the freedom and challenges of living in the country.

Hope and Eric Bright purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Hope and Eric Bright chose Forsyth

After all three of our children graduated from college we decided a change for us was next. We were attracted to this area because of the natural beauty, wonderful climate and crystal clear streams. Additionally, this area has great respect for God, country and traditional family values and our veterans who sacrificed so much to guarantee our freedoms. What better place to look for a new home! After a year of prayer and searching, God opened the door to this beautiful property. It was everything, and then some, that we had been looking for.

Our dream of a guest cabin, creek and acreage situated in a private and peaceful location began to unfold. Three years later, Spring 2016, we began to offer what God has blessed us with. We will forever be thankful. It is a story that continues. We love sharing it...

What makes this cabin unique

During your stay, guests are welcome to participate in the daily farm chores such as milk the cow, feed calves, tend the chickens, collect the eggs, work in the garden or whatever is happening seasonally. You are also welcome to go for a hike down the historic stagecoach road that follows Swan Creek. Full, private access to the creek for swimming, canoeing, kayaking (best in the spring) or fishing is always available year round.

Peaceful retreat, family fun

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is nestled in a cozy corner of Hope and Eric's beautiful property, surrounded by mature trees, whimsical gardens, and nearby babbling creek.

The front mowed yard is large and was perfect for family games of frisbee golf, croquet, running races, and soccer. And never before have we had cows and calves watch us play! Our 12 and 13 year old were cozy in the private sleeping loft and escaped there to read, talk, and draw. This was a no-screen vacation! We enjoyed many rounds of Uno and board games at the big kitchen table and even baked a delicious peach crumble we found the recipe for in one of Hope's cookbooks. The cabin decor is the most charming I have ever seen. From rocking chairs to fireplace, family cross-stitch pieces to flowered quilts, you feel like you have gone back to a time when the pace was slower. We felt comfortable, welcomed, and a little bit like part of the family. And, oh, the books! Shelves of interesting books and magazines about local history, gardening, and homesteading to name a few. My husband loved his kayaking trip with Eric (thank you!), while the kids chose to putter around in the creek bed and hunt for cool rocks. The creek is crystal clear and beautiful. The opportunity to watch or help Hope and Eric with tending the animals is available twice daily and Christopher learned a lot about milking and how fast a calf can empty a feeding bottle of milk! One of our favorite family times was building a fire and roasting hot dogs and toasting (burning) marshmallows for S'mores. Hope and Eric, thank you for sharing your place with us. The new happy memories we made as a family are invaluable!

EXCELLENT RETREAT

  • 5 of 5

THIS COTTAGE WAS THE RIGHT FIT FOR US. IF YOU LIKE TO BE AWAY FROM IT ALL, THIS IS IT. BUT ITS NOT TO FAR FROM AREA ATTRACTIONS. NICE TO GO CHECK THE AREA OUT AND HAVE A QUIET PLACE TO END DAY. THE RIVER WAS DOWN ENOUGH FOR US TO BE ABLE TO WALK AND SIT IN IT. ERIC AND HOPE ARE A LOVELY, FRIENDLY COUPLE THAT MAKE YOU FEEL WELCOME. WE ENJOYED GETTING TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT THEIR FARM AND THEM LETTING US PARTICIPATE WITH MILKING THE COWS. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ERIC AND HOPE FOR A WONDERFUL VACATION

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect Spring Break retreat for our family! We enjoyed everything about our stay-relaxing in the beautiful setting, skipping stones in the creek, campfires and S'mores at night. Our children especially loved doing farm chores with Hope and Eric. We are already talking about when we can come back!!

Amazing place, cannot wait to return.

  • 5 of 5

If you are wanting a quiet, really nice place to spend some time then absolutely book this place. The owners are super people and take extreme pride in their property. This is one of the very few places that I have rented that I truly want to go back and visit. The only negative thing about our time was that we had to leave.

Peaceful and relaxing place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Hope and Eric, you have a wonderful home! Thank you for sharing it with me and my family!! My daughter just loves Hope and the farm animals. I thoroughly enjoyed this vacation and my family did also. I was kinda sceptic of being in a cabin without television or Internet with grown children but it was not an issue for anyone. Thank you for making our Christmas great! THE LOUISIANA CREW❤️🎄🎁🎅

Quiet and Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our two-night stay in Hope & Eric's lovely cabin. I only wish we could have spent more time here. It is a great place to be truly unplugged from the rest of the world. We enjoyed everything from walking along the creekside trail to soaking in the hot tub. It was so cozy and warm. No TV left time for reading, knitting and just hanging out in the quiet. The fresh eggs are so tasty! A wonderful getaway. Thank you for the hospitality!
