Why Simon Graham chose South Creake
North Norfolk holds some very special memories for myself and my family. Some of my fondest childhood memories were made here. It is a place with huge expanses of stunning beaches, pretty Norfolk villages with cottages built in flint and brick, the market towns of Holt and Burnham Market with their boutique shops, the farm shops and artisan producers and a mass of fabulous places to eat. We have spent enough time in Norfolk to know that it is just as special in the snow, the wind, or a spectacular thunderstorm as it is on a hot balmy day – you just need to be prepared for all eventualities!
What makes this Barn unique
The location of No 1 Bluestone could not be better to explore North Norfolk during the day, and then act as a relaxing retreat in the evenings. It is perfect for all generations, from children to great grandparents.

South Creake barn
The barn itself is lovely however the maintenance is not. It was not clean when we arrived, with dead flies left near window sills, dusty bathrooms and linen not changed.
There was no heating and the water was cold throughout.
The internet connection was also very poor which would not work upstairs at all. There were TVs in some of the rooms but most without signals!
Although the keeper was very good at responding to us we did not understand why the heating had not been put on before we arrived (especially as they then then told us it can take up to 48 hours to warm up!). Once the aga was then started the paraffin smell was so strong that it left us with a headache.
We in the end had to buy to extra logs just to heat up the place which we were not expecting to do at all.
I would not recommend staying here.
Completely unfair and inaccurate review. Storms in the area (unfortunately the UK has seen some extreme storms recently) meant that locally everyone had reception problems with WiFi and TV, and the wind put out the Aga. One of the downsides of Aga’s is that they can be blown out by high winds. We sent in our maintenance man to relight the Aga. Our maintenance man and our cleaner both attended to help you turn on the heating, and both said the barn was lovely and warm with plenty of hot water. Furthermore they bought you lots more bags of logs at our expense, so you could have the homely warmth of the fire. We always take absolute pride in providing our family’s properties to our guests in the top condition that we would expect, so will take any learnings from this review, but do feel a lot of the points here are not warranted.
We stayed here recently and had a fantastic experience. The barn was excellent, with plenty of space for lots of guests staying. Loved the kitchen, loved the openness of the living areas. The property was is in immaculate condition and was very clean. Would Highly recommend this and would come back to stay without hesitation.
Lovely barn in a great location
We had a great week in Norfolk and loved staying in this barn. We live in a new build property so it was a nice change to stay in an older property, especially one with such grand proportions. The main living space has a commanding fireplace surrounded by enormous sofas and chairs. The TVs are up in the mezzanine, kitchen and bedrooms, so are the not focus of the main communal room. The kitchen is large, very well stocked and is lovely and warm as the AGA is on. Bedrooms are well proportioned and all en suite. The barn is very well located so we could get to Burnham Market, Brancaster, Wells, Holkham and Morston easily. We will be back!
Great barn conversion
It was a great place to stay. Everything there you could want.
Spacious but cosy. Warm and inviting. Great for a family get together. Well stocked kitchen. Great to have en suites to every room.
Perfect Norfolk Barn
The spacious barn suited us perfectly as a base to explore the nearby coast and countryside
The award winning Brancaster, Holkham, Wells-next-the Sea and Blakeney coastline is a 15 minute drive away.
Stansted Aiport is 88 miles away. King’s Lynn is just 20 miles away with regular trains to London via Liverpool Street and Kings Cross taking under two hours.
The delightful Georgian village of Burnham Market is only 4 miles away, and the historic market town of Fakenham is 6 miles away.
The superb Jolly Farmers pub is found in the neighbouring North Creake, and the quite brilliant new Cafe and Farm Shop in the surroundings of Creake Abbey is now open and just down the road. There are numerous banks and supermarkets in Fakenham. There are some excellent restaurants along the North Norfolk Coast.
