About Paul and Anna Slade
Hello, my name is Paul. My wife Anna and I have lived in the area for 25 years and have 3 teenage children. Having both been born in Devon, we have enjoyed the wonderful countryside the area has to offer, which inspired us to keep sheep, chickens and ducks. Both Anna and I have horticultural backgrounds, being a landscape gardener and florist by trade. We have designed and built a number of properties including cider barn, coach house, school and more recently an oak framed log cabin which we now live in. This then inspired us to build a south facing, cedar clad, glass fronted lodge which has spectacular views, making full use of the sun. So come and join us for a wonderful holiday in this unique location – you will never want to leave!
Paul and Anna Slade purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Paul and Anna Slade chose Exeter
The property is surrounded by mature trees and is adjoining Woodbury Commons. This allows us to take lovely long walks over the heathland where nightingales and the Dartford worblers can be seen. We are centrally located which makes it easy to reach the sea at Budliegh Salterton and Exmouth as well as Sidmouth, and only 10 minutes to Exeter. There are wonderful views of Dartmoor and Exeter which can be seen from the lodge. The site enjoys sunshine all day long as it is south facing and very sheltered. The site is quiet and removed from the
What makes this Cottage unique
The property is quiet, private and secure. We have 7 acres of land and keep sheep, ducks and chickens. We can sit peacefully beside our wildlife pond which is home to ducks, coots, dragonflies and danselflies, as well as carp and tench. With so much available locally such as pubs, farm shops, the beach and other tourist attractions, we can offer a place to escape either after a busy day or just relaxing in the front garden soaking up the sun.

Wonderful week in this gorgeous house - highly recommend
The house and setting are beautiful. Not one thing to complain about. Everything was super.
5 star accommodation in every way!
A very comfortable stay and we couldn’t fault a thing! Beautifully clean and well equipped with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. Conveniently situated for Exeter and the coast but in a lovely quiet enclave. Thoroughly recommend for families or couples wanting a relaxing and spoiling break. Thank you very much Paul.
Very beautiful and calming location
A very charming and relaxing place that's nearby the city and less than an hour away from attractions too. Lots to do there, very serine.
Lovely setting and lovely house
We really enjoyed our stay. The property is lovely and has everything you need for a wonderful relaxing stay.
Oak Lodge - wonderful
Myself, my husband and my mum have just enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay at the stunning Oak Lodge. It absolutely exceeded our expectations. Beautiful setting. Luxurious accommodation. Paul, the owner, was an absolute treasure and so helpful and informative. Loved the chickens greeting us every morning (we named them Sage, Onion & Paxo!) and 2 ducks waddling around. Sheep in the field opposite. So idyllic. Will definitely be back. Thank you for our stay. Lisa, Noel & Sheila.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay, we look forward to having you back some time.
Well built, designed and equipped property, well insulated and very comfortable, in a quiet location
Lovely house and location, with Exeter, Exmouth and Sidmouth all within a 20 minute drive. We could also walk across the field to the woods to go blackberrying. When back at the house the sheep, chickens and ducks kept us entertained. Overall we had a very relaxing 4-day stay.
