Choosing to holiday "in the vrai sud", means you're only a few minutes walk from 5 great restaurants/cafe bars (which is amazing in a village of only 1200 people!); you've got your own pool in the private walled garden; you can take leisurely walks by the riverside, or be a bit more energetic, taking to the river by canoe - the choice is yours. Take over our stunning bourgeois village house in the heart of the Gers, which has been lovingly and tastefully restored and has every home-from-home comfort you could want for your holiday. Taking a well-earned break here you'll get a taste of real French life and you'll live like a local during your holiday. Choose this as your holiday and either ditch the car completely for an authentic rural French break (with plenty to do if you wish) or use this as a base to really explore the south-west.

If you fancy a swim in the company of others, you could take a leisurely stroll to the newly refurbished village pool which is open in July and August. Or there are two lovely swimming lakes within a 15 minute drive. In addition, the River Adour which runs through the village has many small, secluded river beaches which are great for picnics and total tranquility.
Lourdes/Tarbes airport (with flights from Stansted and Manchester) 40 minutes drive;
Bordeaux and Toulouse (with any number of UK flight options) 2 hour drive.
Biarritz (with flights from Stansted and Dublin) 90 minutes drive.
If you opt for the ferry and see a bit of France as you travel, we can recommend great overnight stops on the way. If you need car hire, or need to be picked up at an airport, just let us know and we can make the necessary arrangements.
Madiran (15 minutes drive).
Saint Mont (5 minutes drive).
Marciac (20 minutes drive). The Marciac Jazz Festival takes place at the beginning of August.
Mirande (45 minutes drive). For a few days in July, recognized as the first Country Music festival in Europe.
Vic Fezensac (45 minutes drive). Tempo Latino is held at the end of July.
Condom (45 minutes drive). Around mid-May there's the Condom Bandas y Penas Festival which offers a lively weekend of music.
Food and cooking is King around here.
Restaurants we recommend in the village:
Le Pigeoneau which is a contemporary and stylish restaurant, serving up-market local cuisine with a twist.
Bar Robert, which has a modern feel, is owned by Simon who speaks perfect English and serves up modern, Mediterranean style cuisine and some really nice Saint Mont wines.
Le Pont d'arcole on the outskirts of the village (but still only a 10 minute walk) serves really good traditional regional food in a family setting.
D'artagnan is the main cafe in the centre of the village, which offers a great fixed price menu, or if you want to push the boat out, try garlic gambas and steak with foie gras ... mmm
or there's Le P'tit Bouchon where you can enjoy a daily menu of home cooked cuisine and local wine at prices that'll have you coming back for more!
Restaurants we recommend within a Gascon quart d'heure (25 mins - life here is slow!)
Relais d'Aydie (15 mins by car) serves excellent food at amazing prices but youÂ’ll need a hearty appetite to get through their set menus which start at 11 euro including wine.
Le Prieure, which is a stunningly stylish, but not intimidating spot in Madiran which has a great fixed price tasting menu and a long and interesting wine list.
Le Monde a l'envers in Marciac (20 mins by car) is a resto serving super food in a super-stylish setting. Victoria and Anne-Marie are sure to give you a really warm welcome (only open July and August).
The 3-Michelin-starred Michel Guerard restaurant next to Eugenie les Bains, which is about a 40 minute drive. According to Terence Conran this restaurant serves the most sublime steak of all!
