Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

Cottage in Llanarth, New Quay, Ceredigion, Wales - Peaceful Village Location 1.5 Miles From The Beach

Friendly Cottage is a detached stone barn converted into a lovely cottage in the quiet and historic part of the village of Llanarth. Here you are about 1.5 miles to the beach at Cei Bach and 2.5 miles from the bustling seaside village of New Quay.

The cottage has two bedrooms (a twin and a double) and two bathrooms. There is a well equipped fitted kitchen including a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge and freezer. There is a separate dining room and a smart, spacious sitting room.

The rear garden is reached up a few steps, with a gentle slope to a sunny area with lovely countryside views, garden furniture and barbecue.

Many walks nearby and the Coast Path is within easy reach. There's a village shop and pub in Llanarth, as well as a harbour and lovely beaches at New Quay. Take a boat trip out to the bay and look out for dolphins! The attractive Georgian town of Aberaeron is about 4 miles to the north.

Sorry, no pets.

Very good

  • 4 of 5

Cottage was very good in a quiet location. Lovely and warm and very clean. Toilet seat in downstairs bathroom was loose and had been reported before , could do with a dressing table with mirror as it was difficult drying ones hair or somewhere to place your bedroom toiletries, not a big deal but would be handy. Overall excellent..

Great, comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable stay at Friendly cottage, it was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. As we were staying over New Year extra touches such as a Christmas tree, card and bottle of wine upon arrival were appreciated. Good location for exploring the area and local shop open regularly for forgotten items.

One of the best self-catering properties we have stayed in.

  • 5 of 5

The property was very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. Everything worked! It is well-situated for exploring Ceredigion but a car is essential. Llanarth itself has little to offer but New Quay and Aberaeron are conveniently close. We recommend The Hungry Trout in New Quay - very good Sunday Lunches. One small quibble: the waste and recycling arrangements were quite different from our usual ones and could have been better explained. Our weather was very good but the cottage was well-equipped with things for a rainy day. Overall we would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Owner's Response: Dear Michael, Many thanks you for your review - we are glad that you had a nice time at Friendly Cottage. I agree that it would be a lot easier if all councils did have the same arrangements for recycling etc. as this only leads to confusion when visiting new areas. We have put a copy of the original council instructions in a drawer in the kitchen which will hopefully be clear. We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to Friendly Cottage in the future. Best regards, Mike and Angie.

A great holiday better by great accommodation

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was well appointed, spacious and very clean. Room sizes were fantastic with beautiful views from most windows and we were made to feel very welcome, but left in peace to enjoy our holiday. This cottage is highly recommenced and we will no doubt book again next year. Thank you for making our stay perfect in every way.

Excellent cottage in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd visit to Friendly Cottage, and it was exactly as we remembered it. A well equipped, lovely cottage in a peaceful setting, which had everything we needed for a self catering holiday. We remembered also that the cottage had enough things to keep two lively boys entertained for a week. The location is fantastic for exploring the coast. Cei Bach and Newquay are very close - just a 7 minute drive to NewQuay. It is also close to some of the more picturesque quieter coves and beaches such as NT Penbryn, Tresaith, Lllandbedrog and if you want larger towns, Aberystwyth and Cardigan are well within driving range for a day trip. We have stayed in other cottages in the area but this is one we would recommend and return to. The visitors book in the cottage is full of glowing positive reviews about the cottage. Ideal for couples of for families with a couple of children like us. Ample parking too, and an attached barn where you can store outdoors gear and bikes.

Friendly Cottage is 1.5 miles from the beach at Cei Bach, easily reached. The seaside village of New Quay is 2.5 miles with it's picturesque harbour and beach. The Coast Path is 1.5 miles from the cottage.

The nearest international airport is Cardiff which is less than two hours by car. The Irish ferry is about one hour away at Fishguard. The use of a car is highly recommended whilst staying and to enable you to visit the rich and varied surrounding coastal area.

The cottage is 2.5 miles from New Quay, 4 miles south-west of Aberaeron and approximately 18 miles from Cardigan. Aberystwyth is 22 miles to the north on the A487.

Further Details:

There is a local shop, a pub/restaurant and a butchers in the village. Nearby New Quay offers much hospitality including a number of good restaurants, cafes and bars.

Tesco and Asda both offer online shopping with delivery to the cottage.

The Coast Path is within easy walking distance with many spectacular views and almost unlimited potential. Water sports are available, as is pony trekking, riding, fishing, mountain biking, sailing or just sitting watching another spectacular sunset over Cardigan Bay (wine optional!)
