About this property

Main property is a large house, formerly hotel, with 2 ground floor apartments neither apartment has anyone living above. We are on raised ground overlooking St Ives Bay and West Cornwall Golf Course. Panoramic views across the bay and the golf course. The views are stunning and the sunrises and sunsets out of this world. It is a quiet and secluded location off private lane. Large garden and free car parking available to guests. The flat has 2 bedrooms, lounge/diner/kitchen and separate wet room. The flat is fully furnished and the kitchen is well equipped and has a cooker as well as a microwave and fridge. The bedrooms have beds made up with fresh linen - duvets and sheets - for incoming guests, and they both have vanity basins with H & C running water. The lounge has 2 leather sofas with reclining seats, small tables, TV with DVD. The dining area has table and four chairs. The glazed front door opens onto the garden. The property has free wifi. Pets are welcome to stay providing owners keep them under control, protect the furnishings inside the flat from hair, etc. and respect the gardens.

Lovely location

Great location with amazing sea views. Jacky was very friendly and helpful. Cottage slightly outdated and probably a bit small for a family of 4, but overall a great stay

You can never tire of the view from The Links with a short walk to the beach - had the most relaxing holiday can’t wait to come back to Cornwall

Really nice place to stay with great views

Our stay was comfortable , the property is a little dated but had everything we needed. We was expecting a bath tub as we had a infant , in the photos of the listing it showed a bath in the bathroom unfortunately only a shower which was difficult to get a 1-1/2 year old into, apart from that we enjoyed our stay at st Ives

About the host

Hosted by Jacky Pontefract

We are Bob and Jacky and have lived here for over 30 years. Before that Bob had a hotel in Carbis Bay. Jacky has worked in the IT profession all her life and for the past 20 years in the NHS - but is now retired. Golf, dog walking and gardening feature in our activities as does entertaining. We live on the property and like to welcome all our guests personally. In good weather we like to have a BBQ together with our guests (which we provide), or a glass of wine overlooking the garden and the lovely view.

Why they chose this property

Superb location with views to die for. Secluded but not too far from the village and local towns. Local beach is accessible in about 5 minutes and area excellent for walking, surfing and visiting local attractions, not to mention the golf. We love the area with its clean sandy beaches and wonderful light. The property is very safe for children to play in the garden as well as for pets to exercise. Now that I have retired, the garden is taking over my time and is usually full of flowers which change with the seasons. We have a lots of birds visiting the gardens including a family of jackdaws and a flock of sparrows and several chaffinches and blue tits. The field alongside is home to a family of buzzards.

What makes this property unique

Golf on your doorstep and the beach about 5 minutes away. When the weather is good, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else! The views from the property are stunning and the photographs do not do them full justice. The colours change every day out on the Bay. The property was built in 1920 - an unusual wooden construction for the area - and taken over by the military during WW2. Just before and after the war it was a hotel and we still get visits from former guests of those times. We are only 15 minute away from Paradise Park where they have a large collection of birds including a flock of flamingos, penguins and free flying parrots.
