Set in the small hamlet of Kerradili, the location enjoys a peaceful and tranquil enviroment at all times of the year and the tree-lined setting evokes memories of a by-gone era.

About Mr Simon Forde

Sue and Simon have always enjoyed the French way of life. We have always had our family holidays over here and visited many different regions in France. It was not a difficult decision when we decided to do something different in our lives.

So, here we are and hope you might enjoy this too!

Mr Simon Forde purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Mr Simon Forde chose Châteauneuf-du-Faou

Having moved to France 3 1/2 years ago, Sue and Simon are now able to offer holidays in our tranquil, rural location. Away from the never ending of noise of traffic and people, we are able to offer something completely different to the everyday routine. We would like others to share our 'new life' and hope they will enjoy the experience as much as we have.

Clean, tidy and well-presented little cottage which makes a great central base to explore Brittany

  • 4 of 5

Warm welcome and good communications from our hosts (and their two dogs!) . We felt we could have asked for anything and they’d be pleased to help. The gite was beautifully clean , with a welcoming supply including milk, water and a bottle of bubbly on arrival. We picked a warm time to visit, and the compact bedroom in the roof-space was a bit warm, but the bed was comfortable. If you’re 6ft tall, you will need to bend a little upstairs. (There’s a second en-suite bedroom being built for next season which will deal with both of these things). Great shower, nice plunge pool to cool off in. Very peaceful spot in a tiny hamlet- making a good base to visit anywhere in Finistere with 45 mins or so. Owners live in House 30 feet away across the parking area. Everything was immaculate and done with care.

The nearby Nantes-Brest canal is beautiful and we wished we’d had more time to walk or cycle along it (ask Simon and Susan for bikes to borrow).

Anything we’d like to enhance it further? Only a brighter light in the sitting room for failing eyes to read by, and a kettle that pours a little better!

Fantastic value for money, discreetly attentive English hosts and a good base for exploring. We spent a lovely day at Trevarez Chateau ( which must look even more amazing in Rhododendron time) and enjoyed Huelgoat with its lake and huge boulder formations.

Very nicely renovated Breton cottage, comfortable and well equipped with quality finishes.

We really enjoyed the rural setting of the property, especially being so close to the canal and Chateauneuf de Faou. Simon and Sue were great hosts making sure we had everything we needed during the stay. The cottage was very nicely renovated and the bedding was so comfortable. Also a great kitchen and has a wood burning stove for cozy nights. We had lovely walks along the canal, visits to Huelgoat, Jardin Trevarez, Le Faou and Lecronan. Wonderful place.

Absolutely fabulous!!

Gite was just perfect for our stay, would have loved to stay longer! We felt very at home and the gite was just like the photos on website. Easy to find and beautiful quiet location. Simon and Sue were very welcoming and helpful hosts. Good choice of local supermarkets and shops. Enjoyed visiting Heulgoat, Crozon Peninsula, Lac de Guerlédan and walking along the Nantes-Brest Canal. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this gite to anyone looking for a peaceful relaxed break.

Well done to Simon and Sue - you've got it spot on!!

Simply the Very Best

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay. My wife and I visited for a week in August 2016 and wished we could have stayed longer. This is a superb property; very well maintained, equipped, clean and comfortable. It has all the mod cons you need for your stay, yet still retains a rustic Breton charm.

Very well located, just some 3 miles from the nearest town - Chateauneuf -du -Faou, which has a supermarket, restaurants/bars/cafes, bakeries etc. I would cycle along the peaceful country road most mornings to collect bread for breakfast - a great way to start the day.

The location is ideal for exploring the Southern Finistere area of Brittany and the roads are a joy to drive on.

The property is surrounded by some lovely walks and the nearby canal where you can cycle along the towpath to Chateauneuf and refresh yourself at one of the canal side bars/cafes.

However, and best of all, you will not receive a warmer welcome from your hosts and their two ultra friendly dogs. Nothing is too much trouble and they have all the local knowledge to make your stay memorable.

I would highly recommend this property and we will be back to stay again.

But don't just take my word for I, find out for yourself, you won't be disappointed!
