About Tony Griffin

The Beanacre Barn is owned, managed and maintained by Susan and Tony Griffin. Having designed and worked on the conversion of the Barn from the beginning we are most concerned to create the holiday environment we would wish to enjoy ourselves and to ensure that your stay meets (even exceeds!) your expectations.

As you will see from our own website, we are very keen gardeners. We hope that the results of our efforts in the garden will add an extra element to make your stay in the Beanacre Barn an even more relaxing and fulfilling experience.

Please visit our website and do not hesitate to contact us if you wish.

Why Tony Griffin chose Radstock

Somerset, as the local tourist board declares, is the "Jewel of the South-West". From the towering Cheddar Gorge, the ancient pathways of the Quantock and Mendip Hills, the Georgian city of Bath with its Roman Baths, to mystical Glastonbury Tor and it's Abbey amid the wildlife haven of the Somerset Levels, numerous National Trust properties, and the fine cathedral city of Wells (our local town), Somerset offers a wealth of spectacular natural, archeological, cultural and historical attractions for all tastes and ages.

Can you wonder that we encourage you to take a break in the Beanacre Barn and to explore this "Jewel of the South-West".

Guestbook comments from the owner

Having been a regular visitor to the Beanacre Barn holiday accommodation now for a number of years, we can without any hesitation, fully recommend this as a first class venue to use for either a short or longer stays. Right from the very first visit made to this venue we have been impressed with the warm welcome received and the standard of accommodation available. This is an ideal base to make visits to areas such as Bath, the city of Wells with their many attractions and restaurants with a host of other places of interests to visit.

Notes on accommodation: The conversion of the Barn has incorporated many traditional design features such as the stable-door, exposed beams, oak framed wall, local craftsman-made doors & latches and the flagstones and old pine wood floors. The decor features original local artefacts, craft items and artwork The Barn is bright and particularly spacious, centrally heated throughout and is fitted with modern double glazing. We have based the design on a high standard of equipment, top quality furnishings and attractive, comfortable surroundings inside and out. There are climbing roses on the high walls and the planting in the wide borders includes a range of perennials designed to provide interest and colour through the spring, summer and autumn seasons. The garden is exclusively for your enjoyment during your stay in the Beanacre Barn and is a beautiful and peaceful place in which to unwind. We provide garden furniture on the sheltered patio for al fresco eating and relaxing. With grass meadows on all sides the garden is rich in wildlife. The Barn is thoroughly cleaned by the owners themselves prior to your arrival and on a weekly basis in the case of stays of more than 7 days. Wonderful stay in the countryside

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend Beanacre Barn where we have stayed four times now and had a wonderful holiday on each occasion. The owners, Sue and Tony, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The quality of the accommodation is excellent. It is very well equipped, and very comfortable. As well as the spacious lounge, dining area/kitchen and bedroom, there is a marvellous patio where we sit and relax after a day touring Wells and other Somerset towns. A great place for a peaceful stay in the countryside.

Superb accommodation and delightful hosts

  • 5 of 5

Our holiday began with the delightful Susan and Tony greeting us warmly, leading us into their beautiful garden and plying us with tea, biscuits and advice about places to visit.

When we dragged ourselves away to unload the car we found that the barn has been converted into a beautiful, cosy holiday home, equipped with everything we needed and spotlessly clean. It has its own well-maintained garden and a patio with outdoor furniture (which unfortunately we hardly used because the weather was unseasonably cool).

We found a wide variety of things to do in the area: we toured National Trust properties; we explored Wells and its cathedral; we bought bargains at Cheddar’s massive Sunday car boot and market (BS27 3RP); we lunched in lovely old country inns; we spent a day in Bristol (via Brislington Park & Ride, BS4 5LR); we visited pretty local villages such as Mells (with its historic church) and Nunney (with its moated castle ruin); we discovered the nearby Bookbarn (at Hallatrow, BS39 6EX), with thousands of used books all at £1; and on one day my wife relaxed painting in the garden while I went birding on the Somerset Levels.

We are already making plans to return next year — probably for two weeks rather than one.

A very comfortable cottage in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

Susan and Tony were very welcoming, the cottage was clean throughout and equipped to a high standard. It is set in attractive garden surroundings and a peaceful location. For us it was ideally positioned for visiting places we were interested in like Bath and Wells as well as attractive country walks nearby (e.g. at Nunney). We are very likely to return at some point and would certainly recommend staying there to others.

Beanacre Barn

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely stay at Beanacre Barn in the Somerset countryside. Beautiful barn, cosy, fully equiped and very clean.

The garden, wildife and birdsong is sublime, ventured to the local pub and as it was Easter they had a free bbq, very friendly local people.

We look forward to returning in the future

Thank you Susan and Tony
