Green Cottage is a self-contained cottage at the end of a quiet lane which ends in fields. It has been converted from a small barn in the large walled garden of the owners' house, itself a pretty eighteenth-century Cotswold stone building. The cottage is private and cannot be seen from the main house. You can park your car next to the cottage. Green Cottage provides self-catering accommodation all on one floor. It sleeps four with a futon for a fifth person if required - we charge a bit more for this. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped, and our guests often comment on its restful and home-like atmosphere. You can find an interactive floor plan and more photographs on our website at www.oxtowns.co.uk/greencottage or by following the "Owners Website" link at the bottom of this page. As you can see from the floor plan and photographs, a spacious conservatory with futon opens into a large, light living room. Next to this is a fully fitted kitchen with dining area. Then there is a hall, which leads to a bathroom and two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed (150x200cm), and the second has two single beds (each 90x190cm). The bathroom has a bath with wall-mounted shower. No pets and no smoking. Facilities includes Linen, towels and duvets, Wireless broadband internet connection, Flat screen digital television and DVD player, Radio/CD player, Cooker and Microwave, Fridge-freezer, Dishwasher, Washing machine and tumble drier, Baby's Cot and high chair, Central heating, A wood-burning stove (an initial quantity of logs supplied), Parking next to cottage, and Secluded garden area with table and chairs.

About Julie and Peri Hankey
We have lived in Northmoor for more than 25 years. A little more than 10 years ago we converted what used to be an old barn and stables in our garden to create Green Cottage as a self-contained annex. Originally it was intended for Julie's mother, and this perhaps accounts for a great deal of its special and welcoming character.
Julie and Peri Hankey purchased this Cottage in 1980
Why Julie and Peri Hankey chose Northmoor
We moved here because Northmoor is very rural - we can walk for miles straight from the house, without having to drive. At the same time we are close to Oxford and several other small towns. For more ambitious outings, we are within range of London, Dorset and the Welsh borders.
What makes this Cottage unique
Guests will notice the quietness, especially the absence of traffic. Also everything is within walking distance - the pub, our beautiful 14th-century church, and the village hall, where there is a monthly village market with local produce and also a children's playground.

With kind regards,
Home from home from Homeaway!
A lovely quaint cosy stay in this tiny village of Northmoor (with a community pub serving great food). We were met by the very kind owners on arrival, and spent the week dodging the rain and exploring the area. A great week, and very nice to be able to use the owners garden too.
Thanks - it was great having you in the cottage. Pity about the rain! But you must come again and with any luck the sun will come out.
Best wishes to you all three,
Very nice accommodation. Central to all the area's we wanted to visit. Would recommend if you don't mind traveling.
Thanks so much. It was great having you all. You arrived in the snow ... and now it's spring. Sort of! Hope you had a good time in London.
All the best,
Property was lovely had everything required. We were warm and left to get on with our stay.
Property is in a lovely location very quiet, spring / summer would be great as many walks could be done with very little traffic to worry about. Oxford and other places easy to get to. Highly recommended.
I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. At long last, we saw a bit of spring today and made a start on the garden. You must come back when you can sit outside and enjoy it!
With kind regards,
A lovely cottage
We stayed in the cottage for a long weekend. The cottage has everything you need and is very complete. We had a cosy fire on a winter night. Julie is very helpfull and just next door.
Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed the wood-burning stove. Thanks too for your tip about that special starter log. We shall stock up!
All the best for 2018,
The nearest sea is at the Jurassic Coast where you can explore the Isle of Purbeck, Lulworth Cove, Weymouth, Portland and Chesil Beach. The nearest point is about 3 hours away, but there are attractive routes via Winchester or Salisbury (we sometimes make this excursion ourselves).
A car is not absolutely essential - there are some local buses - but we do strongly recommend a car.
London Heathrow - about 60 miles
London Luton - about 75 miles
London Gatwick - about 93 miles
The main Channel port at Dover is about 154 miles away.
Northmoor is a small, friendly village set among fields, with a 13th century church. There are walks that lead directly out of the village and that connect with the Thames Path - no need to get into your car. The village is also on the Oxfordshire cycle path. Pleasure boats can be hired locally.
There is a pub in the village which serves good food, three minutes walk away from the cottage. The nearest shop and Post Office are two miles away, and there are a variety of pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area. There is a bus service to Oxford from Northmoor, but a car is strongly recommended.
Northmoor is near several attractive towns with shops and places of interest, such as:
Oxford (30 minutes depending on traffic) - excellent shops, ancient university and churches, museums and galleries
Witney (15 minutes) - old wool town, pretty church green, nearest main shops, Cogges Farm museum
Abingdon (20 minutes) - bridges over the Thames, ancient centre, useful shopping
Wantage (30 minutes) - near Uffington White Horse and the Ridgeway - was the capital of King Alfred's Wessex and has a good local museum
Also of interest are:
Blenheim Palace and Park at Woodstock (25 minutes), where there is also an excellent local museum with cafe, and many antique shops
Burford (20 minutes) with historic church and many small shops - antiques, clothes, books
The Cotswolds area and its many picturesque towns and villages
Kelmscott Manor and garden (30 minutes), where William Morris lived, preserved as a museum about his life and work
Stratford-upon-Avon (and the Royal Shakespeare Company's theatre) and Warwick Castle (1 hour)
Many National Trust properties: e.g. Buscot Park, Chastleton House, Great Coxwell Barn.
The Cotswold Wildlife Park (30 minutes)
There are main railway stations at Oxford and Didcot, and there are excellent coach services that connect Oxford Town Centre and the Thornhill Car Park with London and its airports.
