The house preserves the character of a simple French village cottage and is charming and comfortable rather than being (over the top) luxurious.
The larger bedroom easily accommodates three and there is a bed/settee in the living room. The other bedroom suits a couple. Bedlinen is provided.
Kitchen has oven & 4 burner hob and a large fridge, utensils crockery and cutlery are supplied.
There is a washing machine available.
The village of Eus is situated in the foothills of the eastern Pyrenees. The village is classed by the french government as one of the prettiest in France. ('Les Plus Beaux Villages de France'). It is constructed from large boulders of the local granite and consists of a warren of tiny passages and steps on the side of a hill. It is almost free of motor traffic.
It commands stunning views of the surrounding mountains (including Canigou which is the third highest peak in the Pyrenees el. 2,784.66 m./9137 ft)
There is a small but charming bar/cafe close by and the nearby (5kms) town of Prades has two supermarkets and plenty of good shops. The house is particularly well suited for a variety of excursions; it is just under an hour's drive to the beaches on the Mediterranean coast or the interesting town of Collioure; there are three beautiful abbeys to see in the near vicinity; walks in the mountains at any time of year are spectacular and the mountain flowers are of great interest.
Just back from a week in this lovely cottage, 2 adults and 3 teenage children
It was our first time to this part of France and we were very pleased. Eus makes for an excellent base. There was plenty for all the family in easy striking distance. Adventure rafting, trip wires ,walks, beaches... even got to the Dali museum in Figueiras ( 1 hr away...)
The village of EUS is a delight and amazingly ancient and peaceful and quiet. The views from the cottage are fantastic. The valley is very fertile and lush. We were lucky the fig tree at the front door bore delicious ripe fruit daily
We were given excellent accurate local advice from Mark who manages the cottage
The cottage had all the necessary equipment including some beach props for the kids
It also had an excellent wifi connection.
We hopefully will get back someday
In summary highly recomended
