About Lorna Bourke
I have been letting the apartment successfully for several years and have plenty of good reviews to share. It has been highly rated by Trip Advisor. Notting Hill London is very convenient and fashionable and the apartment is very near public transport and Portobello Road antiques market.
Lorna Bourke purchased this Apartment in 1980
Why Lorna Bourke chose Kensington and Chelsea
I originally bought the apartment for my younger daughter and I lived nearby elsewhere in Notting Hill.
What makes this Apartment unique
The apartment in fashionable Notting Hill is completely self contained with a pretty garden and is only a few hundred yards from public transport (Ladbroke Grove tube which is on the Hammersmith & City line - convenient for Heathrow and Heathrow express from nearby Paddington). Buses, taxis, local restaurants and shops (Tesco and Sainsbury's local which are both open until midnight) are only a hundred yards away. The famous Portobello Road antiques market is just one minute's walk and West End theatres and restaurants are no more than a 15 minute tube journey. The apartment has a wide screen smart TV with Sky Sport HD as well as broadband WiFi, Bose CD player and Ipod dock. The kitchen is fully equipped with a separate dining room and a small study. All linen and cleaning is provided.

Great place to get away just prior to global travel pandemic shutdown
We really enjoyed the apartment. It has everything you would want in a vacation stay - great well-appointed kitchen, new bathroom with incredible towels, comfortable bed, lovely sitting room, sunny garden dining area. Very close to Tube station but not noisy.
Very pleased to have another happy holidaymaker and I hope travellers will bear this in mind when booking holiday rentals once this awful pandemic is over.
Very nice stay, very well stocked. At little crowded in the kitchen due to a very stocked kitchen. Bedroom slightly small due to extra furniture. Otherwise an excellent place. If you like hamburgers, fries and milkshakes I highly recommend the burger place next to the tube.
Very glad that the visitors enjoyed their stay.
Great transport links and very comfortable flat
This a well sited property with on a short walk to the nearest tube and to Portobello Markets.
If you want to stay in a well equipped, very comfortable flat book early, because this flat is in demand. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Loads of good crockery and pans if you want to cook. Good restaurants within walking distance and Sainbury's and Tesco's between the tube station and the flat.
Outstanding communication from the owner, who also sent tube updates if the lines were affected.
The next time we are in London we hope that it is available again as we will be trying to book it.
Delighted to have the Horne's to stay. They were model tenants and I would welcome them back any time. Very happy that they found the apartment up to their expectations and that they found it convenient and comfortable - as described.
I could live here!
This is truly a one of a kind rental. The pictures are accurate, but don’t do this justice. We were away for a month and this was the last stop. It was like coming home. Comfortable, beautiful, cozy and welcoming. The neighborhood is an old one, but everything you need is within steps, food, groceries and transportation. We are elderly and this place was heaven. Even had milk, bread and roses to greet us. Garden room makes the flat feel larger than it is and welcomes the outdoors, in. Will stay here again.
Margaret and her husband were perfect guests and I can thoroughly recommend them to other landlords. They were neat and tidy and left a generous tip for the cleaning lady which is very kind and much appreciated.
Far from good public transportation
Apartment as depicted in ad is much smaller and situated far outside the main parts of London. Very tricky getting into London. Several tube stops.
As we left we were told to leave another 20+pounds for housekeeper. I was never told this charge would be added on. And at the last minute we were there. Very disheartening.
Very sorry that this guest was not happy. This is the first and only complaint. The apartment is within 300 yards of Ladbroke Grove tube station on the Hammersmith and City line. The 52 bus stop opposite the tube station takes you to Notting Hill Tube on the Central line. I would point out that I have no control over how many changes any guest needs to make when using public transport and almost everyone has commeted on how central and convenient they found the apartment. Tenants are informed of any extra charges on the personal invoice which I send all tenants along with the rental agreement when they make their booking. I did not press this point when Ms Cowan complained of being unaware of this. I can only apologise if she did not enjoy her stay. Almost everybody else has been complimentary about the apartment, it location and facilities.
Below is a response from the tenants who moved in immediately after Ms Cowan.
Dear Lorna, thank you for the detailed instructions and for having absolutely everything one could possibly need in the apartment.
It is so comfortable that we will have to force ourselves to go out.

Charming flat with character.
Very comfortable flat, well equipped.
Has a really homey feel.
Great location for easily getting around London.
Owner very accessible and accommodating.
Very happy to have another satisfied customer.
Heathrow is 30 minutes away by taxi or tube (Piccadilly and Hammersmith & City Line). Gatwick and Stansted can both be reached by tube with the nearest tube station being Ladbroke Grove which goes direct to Liverpool Street (for Stansted) and Paddington (for Heathrow Express). Victoria for Gatwick is one change away at Baker Street. There are plenty of taxis which service all the main line stations or drive direct to any London airport.
Notting Hill is in a residential area of West London and all places of interest in London can be reached by public transport within 15 minutes (West End theatres and restaurants) or around 45 minutes to places like Kew Gardens, O2 Arena and Greenwich.
Local facilities include late night shopping at Tesco and Sainsbury's both selling everything from fresh meat and vegetables to basic groceries and both with ATMs. There are good local restaurants (pizza, Chinese, Indian Turkish, Italian etc) with several takeaways for those who don't want to cook. Notting Hill has one of the best fish and chip restaurants in London (Geales) as well as a branch of Itsu (Japanese). There is also a local hairdresser, optician, dentist, doctor, several pharmacies and a wide range of other shops.
