Star Gazy is in a quiet pedestrian walkway, and there is a private parking space a short walk away, a tremendous bonus in St. Ives. The Porthmeor Beach is just a minutes walk from the cottage, with all the other beaches, cafes and little shops etc within a 5 minutes walk. Having entered the cottage there are 6 stairs taking you into the dining room, everything then is on one level. Star Gazy was originally built around 200 years ago as a store for fish, and was converted onto a comfortable 3 bedroom home about 100 years ago. Star Gazy retains several of its original features including stripped floorboards in the dinning room and bedrooms, and beams and exposed granite in the dining room. It is light and airy and overlooks the gardens in the meadow. Care has been taken in choosing furniture and equipment to make the cottage as quirky and comfortable as possible. A welcome pack containing tea, coffee and biscuits will be waiting for you, and our housekeeper makes every effort to leave a few items in the cottage for your use, washing up liquid, salt, pepper, hand soap etc. All linen and towels are professionally laundered and included in the price. Beach Towels,Cots, buggies, highchairs, and other equipment may be hired directly from Star Linen St. Ives and will be delivered and collected for you. Local grocers etc are a 2 minute walk away. About Sandra Fenn
Star Gazy is a family owned cottage, loved by three generations. Various members enjoy art, sports, and gardens and spend as much time in St. Ives as our busy working lives allow.
Sandra Fenn purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Sandra Fenn chose St Ives
Our family spent several wonderful holidays in St Ives and in 2002 we made the decision to buy a holiday home of our own. St Ives cafes, beaches and walks are open all year round and we carefully chose Star Gazy for its excellent, quiet, location in the heart of old St. Ives in Down-a-Long, close to the beach and restaurants as our much loved family holiday home.
What makes this Cottage unique
Star Gazy is in a quiet pedestrian lane away from passing traffic yet only 50 meters away from the fantastic beach of Porthmeor, where you can enjoy breakfast in the cafe overlooking the beach. 2 minutes walk along the cobbled Digey takes you to the Harbour, shops, and range of cafes and restaurants. Star Gazy is an old granite cottage with three bedrooms for up to six people and a baby, but is much enjoyed by couples also as a quite retreat. Full central Heating, unlimited hot water, professionally laundered linen, gas, electricity, and WiFi are all included in the price. Star Gazy has its own parking space for an average sized family car 5 mins walk away, a bonus in busy St Ives. Off season we offer bargain rates to guests who appreciate the benefits of the quieter months of the year. 3 to 7 night breaks are available between end October and Easter.

Quiet little street within minute of amazing beach and pleasant stroll to shops and harbour. Wonderful holiday had by all the family thank you!
Great little cottage.
Convenient and comfortable. Bonus parking
Location, location, location!
We loved our week at Star Gazy. The location is wonderful, on a very quiet alley, close to the beach, close to Fore Street, close to wonderful galleries starting with the Tate, and close to the Porthmeor Beach Cafe. The cottage is charmingly decorated with very comfortable beds and everything you need. The washer/dryer and the gas fireplace were especially appreciated.
We are so thrilled to here that our guests loved our holiday cottage and that we have provided a comfortable home from home for all seasons.
A lovely cottage in an excellent position
Spent the first week of our married life here, with reasonably good weather and a cosy cottage.
So pleased to know we have yet another Happy Guest.
Lovely cottage with lots of character! The location is perfect, tucked away from the busy street but a five second walk to the beach.the cottage has everything you need.would highly recommend this place to anyone!plus it has a parking space which is a massive bonus.
Great to hear from a happy guest again. We love hearing from guests that they have enjoyed their stay in our holiday home, and yes, parking is a big bonus in St. Ives.
Cosy, well-equipped and brilliant location.
This lovely little cottage is situated in Downalong but unlike most of the fishermans cottages here it is all on one level when you get inside. It was spotless and had everything you could possibly need. No sea views but
only a stone's throw from Porthmeor beach. Very close to excellent restaraunts and shops and no steep hills to climb if you are older or disabled as we were. We needed to contact the owner a couple of times but found the lady very helpful and we were made to feel very welcome and 'at home' we would definitely stay here again if in St Ives.
It is always a great pleasure to hear that our guests are "at home" in our cottage.
We do our very best to make everybody's stay with us a comfortable, memorable experience and love to welcome so many back year after year.
