About Sarah Watkins
My name is Ruth and I own Bryn Adda and Y Felin. I grew up in the area and have a deep love of the land and locality and the diversity it offers and a wish to help others to enjoy this. Sarah Watkins, part of my great team, will manage your booking from start to finish and she is only too happy to answer any questions you have about my houses or about the local area.
Why Sarah Watkins chose Abergynolwyn
Y Felin was originally a working watermill used for grinding corn. It is situated on farmland which belonged to my parents and when the farm was passed to me in 2009, I made the decision to restore this beautiful house using local materials and offer it as a holiday let to those seeking some peace. It’s location next to the river and in front of the mountain make it a wonderful retreat and my family and I often come here. The house is still surrounded by working farmland which is managed by our estate manager as we now live on a smaller farm near Monmouth.

Impossibly beautiful place! Our two families loved
Impossibly beautiful place! Our two families loved everything about it - the river rushing, beautiful landscapes, the house, wandering sheep! The owners have thought of everything and provided a ton of information on the surrounding area, how to order local organic meat and even left us a delicious lemon cake. There is tons to do nearby with kids and I am already thinking I need to go back to explore even more! Just brilliant!
Beautiful location, lovely accommodation. Very peaceful with good access to lots of great walks and town with shops not far away.
A beautifully presented, well equipped house in the most beautiful location
We booked the watermill for a family gathering to celebrate our son's birthday. The accommodation was perfect. The beds were super comfortable, the decor was of a very high standard and very tasteful, using local materials and retaining the character of the property. The open plan layout was perfect for entertaining and was warm and comfortable. The provision of 'basics' was welcome and the homemade cake absolutely delicious. Sarah was a great communicator and quickly responded to any requests and provided great directions to reach the property which is tucked away in stunning countryside.
There are many walks which are easily accessible from the property and if you are feeling energetic you can call in en route at great local pubs.
I can highly recommend this property and hope to return before too long.
Very spacious upstairs. Lovely location
We had a lovely stay. The house is clean, nice bedding, furniture etc. A few things like lamps didn't work but it didn't ruin the stay.
Wonderful Christmas Stay
We booked Y Felin for two weeks over Christmas. My husband, an architect, had fallen in love with the place from the pictures. He liked the modern make-over and the rustic feel. We arrived on a dark and stormy night to discover a Christmas tree had been put up for us and a lovely cake left to welcome us. The house is extremely well-equipped, absolutely ideal for a family gathering such as ours, with more than enough of everything. It is quiet and remote, no need to lock doors, there are two log fire-places, two modern bathrooms and washing and drying facilities in the storeroom. There is also a lovely patio and barbecue area, should weather allow. A big dining-room table for meals and board games, cows and sheep that come to visit and the sound of the river rushing past. A truly restful stay. We had a small problem with a plug in the store-room the Sunday before Christmas and Sarah and her team had it all sorted within two hours - truly impressive. I would love to see this in summer and would highly recommend this to anyone!
