About Alfred Levy
We the owners are Sue and Alfred and we acquired Meadow Brown Cottage in 2005 as a holiday home for ourselves and our family. We love going to East Ruston and we find there is a large demand from holidaymakers for cottages like ours. So we decided that by letting it out to others, we can share our enjoyment of the great facilities and the local environment with others. We are now both retired, and have enjoyed thoroughly refurbishing the cottage to our own high standards. Whilst we use our leisure time to visit many new places we always look forward to our own stays at Meadow Brown every few months as it is so relaxing. Sue was born in Norfolk and loves returning to her old haunts there
Alfred Levy purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Alfred Levy chose Norwich
We bought Meadow Brown in 2005- having spent a long time searching for something suitable for ourselves. Most places we saw were pleasant but did not have a special feel about them. What attracted us, then, and still does now, is as soon as you walk in the front door and go into the lounge, the view is stunning and you immediately feel relaxed . Car parking is right by the cottage but off the road, The Lighthouse Inn at Walcott is a very pleasant pub serving good food The cottage is within 15 minutes of Wroxham, Stalham, Potter Heigham, Hickling Broad, Walcott; Sea Palling and Barton Broad. 30 minutes away are the city of Norwich; Great Yarmouth; Cromer and Winterton Beach. Stalham is a small town with a good branch of Tesco and other shops of interest
What makes this Cottage unique
There is a fishing lake within the grounds which attracted many specialist anglers in the past. Some otters appeared recently, which has reduced the number of large fish. The management committee are constantly reviewing the situation with the intention of eventually restocking the lake and clearing it of all weeds etc.. In the meantime families can still enjoy some recreational fishing. It is intended to make the area into one of natural beauty attracting wild life and birds. Wi -fi (full fibre - up to 15mbps) is now available. Includes streaming and netflix in both lounge and master bedroom There are 2 blocks of cottages on the site, and Meadow Brown is on the end of one of the terraces and is the largest cottage and has 3 bedrooms and a separate kitchen. It is extremely well equipped with all mod cons including dishwasher. Our son and his family stay each Summer and enjoy all the local beaches and facilities.

Extremely comfortable for two couples and one single, and very well equipped.
Beautiful views and friendly local pub nearby.
We are pleased you all enjoyed Christmas at our cottage.
We should be delighted if you would visit us again.
Very welcoming cottage, specious and very well equiped
Property has Wi-Fi. Very clean and well looked after. Lots of games and well equipped kitchen. Very nice and quit. Beautiful beach near by. Thank you very much for lovely wine. Will definitely recommend it.
We are glad you enjoyed your short break
Yes -at last we have succeeded in getting wi-fi - it took 9 months of battles with BT OpenReach
It is our “home from home” which we really enjoy using ourselves!
Thanks for your good review.
Our aim is for our guests and holidaymakers to enjoy the use of Meadow Brown Cottage as much as we do!
We are pleased you liked the wine and the locality.
We would be most grateful if you would recommend our holiday home to friends and aquaintances!
This holiday cottage is in a great location with a wonderful view of the lake (especially from the upstairs bedroom). Apart from the Butchers Arms pub (about 1/2 mile away & well worth a visit) there are no shops etc "on the doorstep" but access to shops at Stalham are a short drive away. This cottage is suitable for partially disabled people as there's a down stairs bedroom & w/c & shower
Bet this place is wonderful in summer (we were there November 2019 but still great!) & is thoroughly recommended
I am glad you enjoyed your short break.
We hope you will visit the cottage again.
To see the cottage and surrounding area at its best you really need to be here in the Spring or Summer.
Thanks for your review
We had not previously visited this part of the UK and were not disappointed. Alfred and Sue’s home was delightful, well situated and well equipped.
We had a brilliant holiday and we will definitely be returning at some point!
We are so pleased you enjoyed your short break
Do come back again and you will be made most welcome
A week in peaceful Norfolk
A nice house every thing you need sadly the broadband was not working and in this day and age it was missed
We are glad you found the cottage came up to your expectations other than that the wi- fi was not operational when you stayed here.
We applied for broadband a long time ago and it is only since 15th September that we have successfully connected to fibre broadband. The delay was caused by the IPS due to lack of lines etc. The connection was achieved by me after complaining to Ofcom and the communication ombudsman.
Until now we have never advertised a broadband facility, even though we wanted it.
That now will change as I wanted to prove it all works myself, and I am pleased to report that it all works now
The speed is 15mbps download, and all wi -fi is now operational and under our control
We are currently staying at the cottage ourselves, and are currently using it and successfully streaming catch up progrrams and Netflix. Email of course works well too
We do hope you will visit Meadowbrown again and take advantage of the fully operational wi-fi
Recently built with a nice 'cottage' feel
Comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Two Tv's was quite a boon. Frequently saw Moorhens, a few ducks and one day a flotilla of swans and cygnets cruised by. A thoroughly lovely week.
Thanks for your review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at our cottage.
We regard it as our own home from home!
