About Tim Foster
In taking over the house, my partner, Mical, and I are doing our best to keep the integrity of the original vision. Almost everything in the house is original, and the furnishings are either from the period or in its spirit. I am a furniture maker and a number of the house's pieces are my own. This is a place we come to enjoy the sound of water and birds, to read in the deep quiet of winter, to see stars, to hike, to swim, to smell spring apple blossoms, to be amazed by autumn's colors, to catch sight of animals, to feel clean air on our faces, and to remember what food tastes like when it's fresh, and the world is beautiful, and you're sharing it with people you love. We hope you will have a wonderful visit.

Why Tim Foster chose East Durham
We searched for most of a year to find a house away from the road with land that had a vibrant and varied ecosystem. We love the mix of the community. Many have been here for generations and are still active in raising food, while others are forging a creative new ruralism. We love that it is close enough to New York City that we can visit if we only have a weekend away.
What makes this House unique
Sitting in the main room of Bluff House, you almost feel like you are outdoors. Two large sliding doors open onto the deck that looks out onto trees and mountains. The room is light filled and the sound of the creek fills the space with the doors open. There's a cool breeze up the bluff most times, so that the house is never too hot. The grounds are crossed by two creeks, and there huge ancient sycamore trees at the foot of the bluff that must be five feet across. You can wander the woods for hours and not see anything of outside world.
