This lovely house is a quite, very peaceful and comfortable place to experience French village life whilst being only a few minutes from the local town with boulangerie, boucher, supermarche and all general services. It's main attraction to us is the tranquility of the locality. In summer you can dance to the music by the riverbank or enjoy canoeing on the Orne river. Day trips allow you to explore places of historic and natural interest. Mont St Michel in the south, Honfleur to the north, the beauty of the timbered houses and cheeses of the Pays D'Auge, the history of the D-Day beaches. Perhaps hop on the train to Paris for the day. Come home to a traditional French fire place and enjoy the evenings with a BBQ in the private garden.

About Bill Moore
Welcome to our home from Bill and Bernadette. We are an Australian couple who fell in love with 'Le Coucou' in 2010 and despite many questions about why two Aussies would have a holiday home in France (pourquoi?) we knew this was a home we would love (pourquoi pas?). Bill is a retired IT person and I still work as an academic and a clinical psychologist. Le Coucou is not a 'flash' hotel so if that is what you are looking for it is not the place for you but if you are looking for a comfortable farmhouse that allows you to experience French village life whilst being close to so much of the history and beauty of France then I think you will also love this place. If you are interested in staying there contact us and we will be happy to give you any further information you need.

Why Bill Moore chose Pierrefitte-en-Cinglais
The house is in Suisse Normandy, classified as an area of natural beauty. Many people visit to canoe, cycle or just enjoy walking through the countryside. We enjoy this regional beauty but also the proximity of the area to so many of the wonderful French experiences. Favourite day activities are the Saturday markets at Falaise, the weekend Vide Greniers, the beautiful ciders and cheeses of the Pays d'Auge and eating Moules by the harbour in Honfleur. Experience the D-Day beaches, the peace museum at Caen or drive a little further to the battlefields of world war 1. Every time we visit we take a weekend to explore the Loire or perhaps travel down to St Malo. To come home to the fire and a glass of French wine or those long summer evenings with an Aussie BBQ and a Toulouse sausage!
What makes this House unique
So quite and cosy, except for the odd passing tractor, with private garden and rural walks starting at the front gate.

Christmas get away
We stayed in this lovely cottage over Christmas and it was perfect for what we wanted. The cottage is in easy driving distance to all the main amenities and the lovely town of Falaise (birth place of William the Conqueror).
On arrival we found the cottage cold (it was December) but it soon warmed up when we lit the fire. The fire became our focal point for cosy nights in, whilst relaxing on the comfortable sofas, listening to music, eating cheese and drinking good wine.
The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need to ensure you had a comfortable stay, with three lovely bedrooms and an adequate bathroom. The kitchen, which was really bright, was well equipped with a double oven and a large fridge freezer, which would be a big plus in the summer with families.
Ideally situated to visit the D-Day landing beaches and the museums at Merville Battery and Pegasus Bridge. The owners also provided an information booklet on things to do and a box full of tourist attraction leaflets for things to do in the area.
On the downside – We spend every Christmas Eve watching ‘A Christmas Carol’ with mulled wine and nibbles (my wife thinks she’s Mrs Fezziwig). Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the DVD player to play either our own or the DVD’s provided by the owners. It did begin to play one DVD but then crashed half way through. I am sure that Bill & Bernadette will rectify this small problem.
All in all we had a really relaxing stay at this cottage and were able to re-charge our batteries in a lovely comfortable setting. I would like to visit this cottage again and would recommend it to others.
Thanks to both of you for your hospitality.
Alan & Deb
Thank you. Sorry about the cold house on arrival, our caretakers switched the electric heaters on at half power two days before your arrival but those old stone houses really need to have the fire going to get the place cozy in mid winter.. Thanks for letting us know about the the DVD player problem; we will organise a new one asap. cheers Bill
Beautiful comfortable house in a beautiful part of Normandy.
We enjoyed our stay so much. The house is so comfortable, providing everything we needed and more. The house is set in peaceful and beautiful countryside plus we so enjoyed sitting in the lovely garden every morning eating our croissants we had got from the local bakery in Pont d'ouilly. There was so much to see and do in this part of Normandy, we wished we had stayed longer!! We would love to come and stay again.
Thank you for the nice review, much appreciated , glad it all worked out for you all
We enjoyed our week in Pierrefitte-en-Cinglais. The weather was lovely and we had the long evenings in July so once we were back from trips exploring the countryside and nearby towns and villages spent the rest of our time in the garden eating outside or reading a book in the peace and quiet. To that end a couple of sun loungers with a sun umbrella would have been very welcome.
Thank You for the nice review

A lovely break in Normandy
Thank you for a lovely, calm and peaceful stay. It was perfectly located for us to explore Swiss Normandy. The roads were wonderfully quiet for cycling.
Glad you enjoyed. Cycling would not be my thing , too many hills for me
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely home in Swiss Normandy. We stayed for 5 days and it was perfect for getting around to all the great places of interest. Would highly recommend this home and we had our best sleeps ever!

Thanks Kathleen, Glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes we have noticed the same thing. We also sleep very well when we are there; it could be the wine or just the just the silence and fresh air. cheers Bill
