Comfortably sleeps 8 people plus 2 infants, this magnificent large four bedroom barn conversion accommodates two families sharing and provides spacious accommodation for a smaller number of guests. Children enjoy the large garden to play and have fun. The lit terrace provides a lovely place to relax with a glass of wine in the evening. There is a hot tub, plenty of space to sit in the sun or shade and guests enjoy eating outside, under the covered terrace. The barn has solid stone walls and exposed beams throughout with natural tiled floors throughout the ground floor that keeps the house beautifully cool in the summer months. Under floor heating, radiators and an open fire make it comfortable in the winter months.

About Craig Loughlin
The house is a family holiday home purchased by its owners in 2005. It was an old barn which the local Artisan used as his workshop. Throughout the years the owners who are builders themselves, have lovingly restored and converted it with the help and support of the local Architect and local Artisans into a beautiful family holiday home. The renovation work was finally completed in 2012 and this is the first time it has been placed on the rental market. We are confident the house will appeal to people of all ages who will carefully look after it and get as much enjoyment from the house as we do.

Why Craig Loughlin chose Saint-Claud
The Charente is home to some stunning countryside, from vineyards of the west, the forests, mills and valleys of the east. It studded with chateaux and offers scope for cycling, fishing and nature based breaks. The River Charente offers scope for day trips on boats or longer trips on barges and river boats as well as canoeing and Kayaking. The summers are generally warm and sunny. Another great reason is the food and wine in the Poitou-Charentes. The region is noted for its great local delicacies too, cheese, honey, poultry, butter and snails as well as fine restaurants, hotels, cafes and bars. There is a variety of things to see and do such as leisure parks, golf and beautiful towns and villages. A trip to the coast offers the gorgeous islands of Ile de Re and Ile d'Oleron down to Royan.
What makes this House unique

Fantastic stay in beautiful house in Charente
We arrived after a very long drive to a beautiful house, with everything that we needed and more. The space and layout more than met the needs of ourselves, our parents and our two teenaged children with separate spacious bathrooms, pool table and table tennis. Close enough to the centre of St Claud for our children to have some independence and have a walk into the village, whilst a quiet and peaceful location in which to enjoy cooling off in the tub. We ate outside every day under shade and with the aroma of Lavender from the garden. A fantastic based from which to explore local history - Resistance Monument, Angouleme, Piegut Pluviers, Oradour Sur Glane and the lake and activity centre in Bussieres Gallant - all recommended and within reasonable travelling distance. Without doubt our best holiday in France yet, and by far the most comfortable and beautiful house. Highly recommended - enjoy!
Luxury and space
We had a brilliant experience at this house. The first thing to mention is that owner Craig was very accommodating and helpful. We enquired about availability and moved in on the same day - he helped us get out of a mid-holiday crisis with another house which wasn't up to standard so we were and are very thankful.
We landed on our feet though, the house is amazing. It is the most spacious holiday let we've ever stayed in and is finished to a very high standard. The pool table, ping ping and hot tub were well used! We enjoyed playing games on the large lawn. And the house doesn't really need a pool because there is a public outdoor pool about one minute's walk away, which is big and relatively quiet when we were there in August. We were 5 adults and two small children and the house was incredibly spacious and felt luxurious. The town is quiet and peaceful, has a few shops and bars and a very good boulangerie. There are lakes and castles within an hours drive.
We would love to go back in future. Thank you again Craig.
This is an amazing property, extremely well built and beautifully equipped. The garden is safe for children, the house has so much space with places to entertain. There are plenty of interesting places to visit in the area for both young and old, the village has a great bread shop and a couple of good restaurants. We can't wait to return next year.
Stayed here during the summer and the place is beautiful. Perfect for families or couples who are after a nice relaxed holiday. Lots of things locally to do in the Charentes region and very close to many pretty towns. The two local bakers are both great and the local bar Les Platanes is a great place to visit during the day or evening for food and drink and the owner Patrice and his staff are great company and very accommodating.
The house itself is very homely and extremely spacious. It has 4 huge bedrooms, a huge kitchen/diner and a tv and pool/billiards room with all British free view channels. The whole house is very modern but has kept all of its original features.
I'm looking forward to going back very soon and would recommend the home to anyone looking to stay in the area. Its very luxurious at a great price and is, in my opinion, preferable to staying in local chambre d,hote (B&B). I can see this place being booked up very quickly
