Our cottages were a former cow shippon and a workman's cottage which were completely renovated in 2013. The cottages are set on a working sheep and beef farm surrounded by farm land, streams and the River Dane. Farm walks, picnics and fishing are a feature of your stay here - as well as enjoying lambs, calves and wildlife in the farm fields. The Cottages are conveniently located on the A54 Congleton to Buxton road and are only 15 minutes drive away from the pretty market towns of Macclesfield, Congleton and Leek and the spa town of Buxton. It is also conveniently positioned for visits to the Roman City of Chester with its zoo and race course, and vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool. Beautiful countryside and scenery is all around and for the walker, then Bosley Cloud, Macclesfield Forest, Teggs Nose, the Roaches and Hanging Stone are a must. Sailing, fishing, golfing, horse riding, mountain biking & cycling are all nearby as are historic houses, Jodrell Bank, Alton Towers & more. The Peak District is within reach with the glorious architecture, gardens and Opera House in Buxton together with lots of beautiful countryside and lovely villages to explore. Chatsworth House is approximately one hours drive away which is an absolute 'must see' as the 'Queen of the Peaks'. There are a vast array of National Trust properties in this area and historic houses and beautiful gardens.

Tom, Brenda and daughter Jennie warmly welcome you to Colley Farm and their newly created quality holiday cottages. Colley Farm is a working farm and Tom is the third generation to farm sheep, beef cattle and wheat/barley crops. Lambing is done in two batches - at the end of March and April and the calves arrive during the spring and summer months. The farm is only small scale in today's farming business and therefore we converted a redundant cow shippon and a former workman's cottage into two quality holiday homes in 2013. Building work started in October 2012 and they were completed by August 2013. All work has been done to the highest standard incorporating oak beams, doors and staircases underfloor heating, log burning stove / open fire, new kitchens and bathrooms to create two warm, cosy and we think - beautiful cottages. We maintain the cottages to the highest standards of cleanliness and providing all that you may require during your stay.

Whilst it's positioned in Cheshire - it's also nestled beneath Derbyshire's Peak District and is adjacent to the Staffordshire border. Each of the three Counties have spectacular scenery, fabulous walks, pretty market towns and villages and quaint traditions such as well dressings and fetes. An abundance of historic houses such as Chatsworth House and Tatton Park are close by. For the young at heart - Alton Towers theme park and Chester Zoo are within easy access. Colley Farm is only 25 minutes drive away from Manchester Airport and also the M6 motorway and 10 minutes from Macclesfield Railway Station. It is one hour's drive from the historic Roman City of Chester, and the cosmopolitan cities of Manchester and Liverpool. The farm is located in a rural village and surrounded by farmland. Guests are welcome to enjoy peaceful walks through the fields and picnics by the streams and River Dane. If you fancy fishing - then we can offer this too. Lovely walks from the doorstep are available such as the Bosley locks (12) and Bosley Cloud (hill). Within 10 minutes drive you can travel to Wincle's fish farm and brewery, walk up Hanging Stone and the Roaches, Teggs Nose and Macclesfield Forest - which also offers mountain biking routes. You'll love this area!

Wonderful cottage and very friendly owners.
The cottage was very clean, cosy and comfortable. Nothing could have been improved on, only the weather. The highlight of the stay was being able to witness the birth of the new lambs on the farm.

Very well-kept property
The property was absolutely beautifully kept and very well-located for travelling around Cheshire. It was scrupulously clean and had everything one could wish for in terms of furnishings. The only downside for us was its location by the side of the A54 - we had not appreciated this and the traffic noise was irritating for a supposedly quiet getaway. I got woken up the first night at 3 a.m. by lorries clattering along the road! However, if someone is unfazed by that, it's a lovely spot and Brenda was extremely pleasant and welcoming.
An excellent base to stay
We recently stayed in Cheshire for a family weekend. The house was of the highest standard with 2en suites and high standard accommodation.our hosts were welcoming and helpful.
Whilst the weather was good surrounding footpaths were muddy so we visited rudyard teggs nose and local NT gardens.
Five star accommodation
Amazing, top class quality accommodation - could not be bettered anywhere. Would not hesitate to recommend.

A brilliant barn conversion
A superb conversion - with 2 en-suite bedrooms AND a ground floor toilet - nicely appointed, immaculate and well equipped with easy-to-use appliances. The property gets our 5* rating, and Brenda gets 6*.
We've been renting for many years and this property ticks all our boxes and more.

We stayed in Swallows Barn for a week. It has been fitted out too a very high standard for a holiday cottage. One of the best ones we have stayed in.

Colley Mill Farm is situated in a lovely area of Cheshire with and abundance of National Trust properties near by if that is of interest.
Lots of good pubs for evening meals nearby if you do not want to cook evening meals whilst on holiday.
Would definitely recommend.

Swallows Barn and Farmhouse Cottage are set on a working farm. Guests are welcome to view the farm animals, take part in farm walks and fish in our streams. The area is wonderful for walking - whatever your distance or preferred terrain.
The nearest beaches are at Llandudno, Blackpool, Rhyll & Southport. Each can be accessed by car or train - approximately 1.5 hours drive / train journey. Llandudno is a quintiscential Victorian beach front with a wide promenade, land train, band stand and lovely pier. The town has a lovely array of shops and visitors can enjoy the 'happy gardens' on the Great Orme (hill) together with a cable car ride ora Victorian tram ride to the top of the hill. Blackpool and Rhyll offer fun fairs.
Manchester Airport is 40 minutes drive by car
The nearest port will be Liverpool - 60 minutes drive away
Colley Farm is situated within the rural village of North Rode. The market town of Congleton is 3 miles away, Macclesfield is 5 miles away, Leek is 5 miles away and the Spa town of Buxton is 10 miles away. Numerous places of interest are within a 5 mile radius. The vibrant cities of Chester, Manchester and Liverpool can be reached within an hour by train or car. Alton Towers theme park is 45 minutes drive, Jodrell Bank & Little Moreton Hall are 15 minutes drive, Tatton Park is 25 minutes drive.
The nearest shop is 2 miles away and the nearest pub is under a mile away. The area is scattered with traditional rural pubs which also serve meals. The nearest towns of Congleton, Macclesfield and Leek offer a range of restaurants, shops, tea rooms and take-aways and markets. The nearest leisure centre is 2 miles away and has a gym, swimming pool, fitness classes and sport hall. The spa town of Buxton must be visited to enjoy its beautiful opera house which has a constant and ever changing range of entertainment to suit all tastes. Buxton also has a fabulous Victorian Park and its famous Pavilion Gardens as well as beautiful architecture such as The Crescent. Chatsworth House in Derbyshire is one of the finest historic houses in the country with large park, gardens, play area, farm, cascading water and fountains and hosts many annual attractions such as a Country Fair and Horse Trials. In Cheshire, Tatton Park is a similarly spectacular historic house with lakes, an Old Hall, Victorian farm, parkland deer, restaurant, gardens and outdoor play area. For those who enjoy trips to the theatre, then Buxton, Manchester, Stoke and Crewe all provide lovely theatres. Jodrell Bank with its Lovell telescope is only 15 minutes drive away. A number of beautiful lakes and reservoirs are nearby for enjoyment / sailing / fishing or walking. Rocky outcrops provide good climbing opportunities. A local firm offers kayaking and climbing activities and there are also plenty of facilities for golfing, fishing, mountain biking and general cycling - including the off road routes of the Biddulph Valley Way and the Middlewood Way. Visits to Macclesfield Forest and Delamere Forest are a must for walkers, bikers and horse riders. Delamere also has a zip wire and a 'go ape' facility. If you wish for a theme park, then the famous Alton Towers is 45 minutes drive away.
Booking Notes: Our booking procedure is simple. Contact us by telephone or by e-mail to discuss your requirements. If you wish to confirm a booking, then we will send a booking form with terms and conditions and ask for a deposit of 20% of the total holiday cost. The remaining amount should be paid in full no later than 6 weeks before your arrival. We also ask for a damage waiver of £75 - which will be returned to you within 10 days of your leaving our property provided no damage or loss has been incurred. Changeover Day: Saturday is our normal changeover day - however, we will be flexible wherever possible. We ask that you leave the property by 11am on your day of departure and that new arrivals arrive after 4pm. However, where we can - we will also be flexible with time
