Great place to stay in Aci Trezza

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a coastal town that was a little off the standard tourist places and found Acitrezza. It was perfect. Nice little town, very picturesque. Good restaurants, very safe and nice to walk around. It was quiet during the week and picks up on weekends. Most of the visitors are local families. There is very little English spoken but people were nice and patient with us and we got through fine. As for House Galatea, it was wonderful, actually perfect. It is far enough from the town to avoid any traffic noise and crowds, but close enough to walk <5min. We felt safe the whole time. There is a cafe (AKA "bar" in Italy) steps away that has great pastries and coffee. We started each day there. The property is on a small cul-de-sac which has plenty of parking during the week but can get busy on weekends so best to park and walk around weekends or risk losing your spot. Driving during the week is fine and less traffic anyway. We found the house very clean (spotless), well-kept and loved. We met the owner (Mario) who is very nice and helpful and patient with us. There was coffee, water and other items provided. The rooms are very large and nice. The house stays cool during the day and we never had to use the air conditioning. The wireless internet was fast (20Mb). When we weren't site-seeing, we spent the majority of the time when we were at the house on the terrace sipping coffee in the morning or wine in the afternoon overlooking the ocean. The sunrises are magnificent. There is a second room which is pretty much a separate apartment which we didn't use except for the washing machine that came in handy enabling us to travel with just carry-on for 2 weeks. We did a half day trip to Etna which was perfect (tip: go with tour, less stress than driving there). Also explored the Norman castle and took a boat ride - all walking. The water is very clear and good for divers. The biggest challenge was finding it. We arrived on Sunday and they block some of the roads off due to events. Also google maps has a problem so you have to tell it you are walking but Andrea was helpful there. Once you know where it is, it is easy to find. Overall, we highly recommend this property.

A wonderful property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

A spacious property in a beautiful location, just across the road from the sea. The property was claen, well maintained and well equipped. We were given a warm welcome by the owner. The large terrace is perfect for sitting out in the sunshine or shade and there are many restaurants nearby serving excellent fish, seafood, pizzas and pasta. There was always space to park our hire car across the street at the front of the property. Can definitely recommend this property and would love to visit there again.

A wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The description and photos of the house are exactly as shown. It is comfortable, clean & well maintained, with all the amenities one would need. The beds are comfortable, the patio is a great place to hang out. The neighbors are friendly & helpful. Stroll along the boardwalks & find great restaurants, swim in the warm sea, enjoy beautiful sunsets & sunrises, walk through the town & enjoy the history & the charm. There are local markets close-by & fruit and vegetable vendors. But, the best part are the kind & friendly people who live there. At the moment we arrived, my husband had a major heart attack in the car. I called Andrea, the property manager, and within 3 minutes he & about 6 other locals surrounded our car. Andrea insisted on driving us to the large hospital 15 minutes away saying we needed a translator (not to mention a driver to maneuver the roads and the crazy Sicilian drivers!). In 15 minutes we arrived at the ER. In 5 minutes my husband was receiving an EKG. In 10 minutes he was in the OR having an Angiogram where the docs removed a large blood clot totally blocking his main artery, did an angioplasty and put in a stint. In 35 minutes we were told he was well. They saved his life! Andreas' fast action in getting us there also saved his life. My husband was in the hospital for 6 days. Amazingly, there was no charge. Andreas was there as a supportive, compassionate person, made sure my husband had a cell phone to call us from the hospital, translated, answered many questions, even picked up a friend of ours at the Catania airport at 11:30 the night of the heart attack and refused to let us pay him even for the gas! When I thanked him for everything, he embarrassedly said, "it is not necessary. This is what we do"!" Our trip to Sicily with our two grown children was a celebration of our son's heart transplant 1 1/2 years ago. While awaiting his new heart, he dreamed about a family trip to Sicily. So, Sicily and Aci Trezza became a celebration of both of their gifts of new ttlife. It was truly a trip of the heart in so many ways. And, we were able to enjoy and continue the rest of our trip together. Words cannot describe our gratitude to Andrea and the doctors and to the friendly town of Aci Trezza.

Relax in the sun

  • 5 of 5

A very spacious and well equipped apartment, the photos do not do it justice. Comfortable, clean and well maintained, the private terrace allowed us to relax in the sun throughout the day. In a quiet location just a few minutes easy walk away from the main town, the minimarket and the best bakery in town.

We had an issue with our baggage and the owners went out of their way to help us resolve the problem and ensure we had a pleasant stay. They were always on call if needed which was very reassuring. Fortunately we had no problems and a really great 2 weeks in the sun.

We found Aci Trezza friendly and welcoming, with some great restaurants and relaxing atmosphere.

An ideal location to completly unwind or use as a base for sightseeing

Séjour formidable

  • 5 of 5

Car: recommended

Just a few steps away from the port of Aci Trezza, the little fishermen village, this house allows you to spend a dream holiday, because of it's strategic position,.

There's the beauty of the sea at the different hours of the day... the shimmer of the sunbeams that are reflected on the water... the fisher who pull up their nets, not far out the nature reserve of the Faraglioni... the waves that crash on the towers of lava which Polyphemus threw after the escaping Ulysses, so the legend... the colours of unforgettable sunsets!

Each morning early you can go to the fish market, 100m away from the house, to buy fresh fish or get some warm croissants in the near patisserie, eat a mussel soup at lunchtime or an ice cream on the piazza in the evening.

This is the house for someone who loves the sea and nature, the calm life of a fisher men village and the folklore, art, culture and all the magnificence that Sicily offers!
