Peaceful village location in rural setting. Comfortable, cosy & relaxing...
About Madeline Riggs
We're both born in Devon and have lived in the area all our lives. We built the house we now live in which is situated just above the cottage. We decided to convert the old barn into separate self contained accommodation. Making an ideal location for a couple seeking the peace and tranquillity in this beautiful part of Devon. We live here permanently and run our own small farm. We have a good local knowledge of the area. So if required, we are happy to give advice on restaurants, beaches and various other activities. "Most of them have been tried & tested by ourselves" Please don't hesitate to ask!
Madeline Riggs purchased this Cottage in 1949

Excellent winter stay
Wonderful little cottage in chocolate box village with superb pub two minutes away. Madeline has thoughtfully provided everything you could possibly require. Cottage lovely and warm in cold winter weather. Ideally placed to explore the pretty local area. We would very much like to visit again in the future.
Many thanks for your complimentary review.
I’m glad you found the cottage warm and cosy, even though the weather wasn’t very kind to you...maybe next time!
Lovely homely and cosy cottage
Really enjoyed Acorn Cottage, a very cosy well equipped one bedroom accommodation. Quiet small village with a local shop and great pub just 50 metres away!
Lovely peaceful location
Excellent. Last visited in 2016 and it’s still as lovely. Little upgrades since last time to keep it fresh and contemporary and as we arrived on New Years Day the owners had the cottage still decorated for Christmas and it made it like our home-from-home. We love this place. Thankyou for another lovely relaxing stay, just what we needed. We’ll see you soon 👍🏼
Recharge your batteries
An ideal place to relax and enjoy. The property has been beautifully done to a high standard and well worth a visit. The village pub served lovely meals and everybody we saw were very friendly.
Beautiful cottage. Peace & quiet
Stunning cottage! Beautifully decorated. Real hidden gem. No Internet or phone signal - suited us 😁
Roads are a test to your driving skills as narrow. Parking very tight.. Idyllic country get away x hosts are lovely x
Lovely relaxing few days
Exceptionally lovely property, very well kept. Everything you could need has been thought of. Only downside was we were unable to connect to the WiFi during the whole of our visit which might have been a problem in the event of an emergency.
Acorn Cottage is set off the road in the Centre of the picturesque village of Stokeinteignhead , A short stroll will take you to the village shop & Church House Inn pub/restaurant.. rated for great food !
