About Rolland Keane
A long-term love of France and some 30 years of dragging family and friends around every corner of this intoxicating land led to the inevitable journey to the south west and our home in Villeneuve Minervois. This still unspoilt corner of France offers everything from lofty mountains to sandy beaches, haute cuisine to the humble cassoulet. Our house is also our home for as much of the year as our working lives in London will allow. We hope you enjoy, as we do, everything that the wonderful Minervois has to offer!

Lovely stay in the ‘hidden gem’
We very much enjoyed our holiday in this quiet location, tucked away in a tiny street in Villeneuve-Minervois. Rolland and Andrea made everything straightforward by sending clear instructions and leaving useful files of local information in the property. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped with everything you might need during your stay. The weather was extremely hot while we were there but the lounge remained a cool retreat and the courtyard and second-floor terrace were lovely places to sit during the evenings.
Fabulous Location Fabulous Home
This home in Villeneuve-Minervois is as advertised. A warm, charming, roomy stone home, with a good heating system and comfortable beds. The kitchen is well stocked and linens are provided. The private courtyard and balcony would be lovely to use in warmer weather (at 6C not so much.) We greatlly appreciated that basic supplies were there when we arrived (toilet paper, dish soap, etc.) and were happy to restock for the next guests. Being in the village was a delight. We walked to the bakery each morning for freash baguettes and croissants and dined at the two restaurants. The village's location is centeral to the Midi - canal and locks, caves with paintings and walled chateau. Flying into Toulouse and renting a car was easy. Thank you Rolland and Andre for the use of your lovely home.
Many thanks for taking the time to write such a great review of your stay. We love our pretty little french village and it matters enormously to us when our guests do as well. Thank you for choosing our property and we wish you an your family a very happy and prosperous 2019. Rolland & Andrea
Thank you Roland for every thing, it was really amazing and wonderfull. Hasta la vista!!!!!
Beautiful house & village location!
Four of us shared this lovely house tucked away in a quiet back street in the beautiful village of Villenueve Minervois. Ate in the village Auberge a few times can highly recommend!
Well equipped house and made use of the quaint shaded courtyard in the hot weather we were lucky enough to get.
Visited local Truffle museum and vineyard and all the other outstanding places of interest nearby.
Thank you Rolland & Andrea!
Yvonne, many thanks for your great review which we really appreciate. We're glad you enjoyed your stay so much and hopefully we may have the pleasure of your company again on another occasion if you choose to revisit the wonderful Minervois. Merci bien! Rolland & Andrea
This is an amazing property in the most wonderful location.
We have just completed the most amazing two week break in this property. With our lovely dog Otto. The house is fantastic. So beautifully furnished and every possible thing you could want is there - we were wanting for nothing. The location is great. The village itself is delightful and has two fabulous restaurants and a bar within walking distance. We go to France every year and this is certainly the most friendly village we have ever stayed in. This is a great central location for visiting many sites. Carcsassone is on the door step - was not for us as sooooo busy but if you don't mind that it's a must. We enjoyed trips to the coast (amazing dog friendly beaches for anyone with furry friends) and exploring the black mountains. Wonderful lake near Carcassone where we were able to find private little beaches and chill out for the day. We had a fab time and I cannot recommend the property highly enough.
Thank you for your wonderful review which we very much appreciate. We are delighted you all had such a great time and Otto enjoyed his French adventure!
Thank you for choosing our property for your holiday.and hopefully we will get to welcome you back on a future occasion.

A lovely comfortable home in a pretty village with friendly locals who made us very welcome.
Very comfortable and well equipped, this lovely traditional gite made a perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding mountains and countryside. The coast is only an hour away and Carcassonne and the canal du midi are on the doorstep. There are two lovely auberges in the village, plus a great little bar, boulangerie and boucherie. There are also some lovely walks right from the door. Lots of reasons for a return visit!
Thank you for your great 5 star review and feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed the house, village and area so much and would be delighted to welcome you back at any time. Thank you once again for choosing to stay at our property.

There are so many places to visit in the area that one week may not be enough!
Within the village there are 2 very good restaurants (one an auberge serving local dishes and the other which is a more suited to fine dining). Other amenities include a boulangerie, butchers and small Spar shop. There is also a chemist and post office. The village is famous for "la Truffe" and in the winter colourful markets are organised to celebrate (and sell) all things related. You can visit the local museum, Maison de la Truffe (Truffle House) within the village all-year-round. Also dont miss out on a visit to le Moulin (a working windmill) which is a 15 minute stroll from the house.
In the surrounding area the numerous areas of historic, scenic and cultural interest are easily reached by car. There are the famous Cathar fortresses of Chateaux de Lastours and Queribus. However, the biggest attraction in the area is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Carcassonne. Carcassonne is the largest walled city in Europe, the fascinating 'La Cite', where at least in the story, the heroic chatelaine defied the siege of Charlemagne. Despite its fairy tale appearance, Carcassonne has all of the conveniences of a modern city.
To cool down in the summer there are lakeside beaches and a forestry acrobatic park at Lac de Lay Cavayere. Both popular with families. If you fancy visiting some of the caves for which the region is well-known, head for the Grotte de Limousis or Cabrespine. For those that don't mind a longer drive there is a wonderful tourist train Rivesaltes to Axat which takes you through dramatic and beautiful scenery.
For the more adventurous there are lots of activities such as gorge walking, whitewater rafting and kayaking.
The village of Caunes Minervois, famous for its red marble and Benedictine abbey, is less than 15 minutes drive away, where there is a wider selection of shops and dining options.
