The Gables Sleeps 14 (7 Bedrooms)
About Chris Goodwin
We have been coming to the Lakes for the last 30 years and now work in the area and believe in putting as much back into the local community as possible by helping promote the local tourism industry to all of our clients and guests across all of our businesses, which helps create a sustainable Keswick.
Chris Goodwin purchased this House in 2010
Why Chris Goodwin chose Keswick
When we first walked into the Gables and the Studio our response was WOW and three years on we still love it, so please come and stay here and see if it Wows you as well. It is 100 yards from central Keswick, but is still very calming. The Gable and the Studio are in central Keswick and sleep up to 18 people (14 in the Gables and upto 4 in the Studio)
What makes this House unique
It is the only property in central Keswick which has a large rear Garden and it even has a slate bed pool table in the dining room! The Houses are big enough to disappear in and still find your own space.

Lovely house but faded glory
It needs a little TLC
Stayed for a residential course. The house is spacious and well kept. The rooms are comfortable and modern and the house is in a good location.
Good location. Comfortable, quiet house.
The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is located close to the town centre and also the river; with Derwent Water less than half a mile away. So, great for shopping, walking and swimming.
Comfortable accommodation in a great location
I stayed as part of a residential training programme I was undertaking. The location of the property is excellent to explore Keswick and the surrounding area; the town is literally on your doorstep!
The accommodation itself is clean, spacious, comfortable with modern bathrooms. Would recommend for a stay in Keswick with family or friends.
wonderful views and position in Keswick. Very well equipped and comfortable for a large group. There were eleven of us ladies age range 50 to 80 we had a wonderful time making good use of the very large table in the dining room. Only one fault which was the very steep stairs to the top bedroom. The ladies who shared that room said it was quite chilly. Would we stay here again....YES
Good access to downtown and park areas
1 block from the downtown area and a few doors from the river. Good access, nice rooms and bathrooms. Would be a great base location for a group of friends looking to enjoy the Lake District
Along by is the nearest beach which is a 40 minute drive away
The Houses are 20 minutes from Junction 40 of the M6, the nearest Train Station is Penrith which is 20 minutes away, the nearest airport is Manchester, where you can hire a Car
Keswick Town Centre - one minute
Derwent Water Lake - 10 mins walk
Mountains outside of the door
We have been coming to the Lake District now for 20 years as a family as well with friends and there is not much that we have not done over this time, but every time we revisit we are always amazed at our next adventure.
There are plenty of things to do for all ages, from shopping and sampling the local cafes, restaurants and pubs, to enjoying tennis, bowls and putting in Fitz Park close by. The park also has swings, slides etc for younger children and plenty of green space for football, cricket and such like.
Keswick Leisure Pool is next to the park where one can swim, use the fitness suite or join in an exercise class.
There are a few small museums and art galleries in Keswick also.
Bikes can be hired if you don’t fancy bringing your own bikes, or don’t have one. Keswick Mountain Bike Centre in Keswick – Cycle Wise in Whinlatter Forest Park.
Keswick also boasts a great theatre by the Lake where performances are held throughout the year – and of course canoes and boats can be hired on the lake.
In and around the area, you can also play golf, go horse riding and there are several activity centres for archery, clay pigeon shooting etc and Go Ape, in Whinlatter Forest Park. Take your pick, but this is not an exhaustive list.
