Cottage in St Agnes, Cornwall, England - Quiet Central Location, Close To Popular Amenities And Only 5 Minutes Walk To Beautiful Beach
About Sarah Bennett-Day
Sarah and Steven live in Suffolk with their five children. They both have happy memories of Cornish family holidays as children and first came to St Agnes with their own children over 15 years ago. The family fell in love with St Agnes (so much so our whippet is named Aggie) and returned a number of times each year. Eventually we were lucky enough to be able to get our own place here. We walked past this house for many years - even taking a photo before it became for sale! Sarah is a midwife and Steven is a designer. Eventually we hope to make Stippy Stappy our permanent home. In the meantime we hope if you stay at Stippy Stappy it adds to some wonderful memories for you.

Why Sarah Bennett-Day chose Saint Agnes
We love St Agnes because of the friendliness of the strong community, the amazing landscape and beaches and the independent spirit of the place. There's great places to eat and great places to walk. Our favourite is walking Aggie the whippet from Chapel Porth beach to Porthtowan beach at low tide, having a cheeky beer and walking back before the tide comes back in. There's something great to do in St Agnes whatever the season. In summer there's the beaches, but also out of season the walking, surfing and atmosphere is wonderful. So No 2 Stippy Stappy is perfect for an all year round break. It has the best of both worlds, close to all the great amenities of the village, but in a very quiet spot.
What makes this Cottage unique
The Stippy Stappy is a historic landmark in St Agnes. Being part of such an interesting landmark makes staying at No 2 more enjoyable. Sitting out the front with a cup of tea or a glass of wine watching the world go by is very relaxing. Just head out of the door, down the Stippy Stappy and along Quay Road and you're at a wonderful beach. Within a two minute walk you have the pick of some of the best places to eat in this part of North Cornwall. We've made the interior of Stippy Stappy modern and convenient for families whilst retaining all it's historic charm. We supply all towels (apart from beach towels), bed linen and cleaning stuff so you don't have to think about that.
Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
This is our second stay at 2 Stippy Stappy. As previously, it was perfectly clean and welcoming. The trees that line the path directly outside the cottage that leads to the beach have been cleared to make it even easier to access Trevanance Cove. There is new furniture in the garden which is a bit of a sun trap and a tv / dvd to entertain the kids. We used some of the excellent local guidebooks and maps provided in the cottage to do several walks in and around the area, both towards the beacon and along the cliffs. Driftwood Spars down at the cove has great beers brewed by themselves which are worth tasting in detail! Also recommended is the Cornish Pizza Company. We will definitely return to the cottage in the future, it has every mod con you can think of and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere with contemporary decor in a traditional fisherman’s cottage setting.
Lovely cottage, pristine, clean and central. Loved the colour schemes, ultra comfy beds and good quality linen. I'm sure we will return.
Perfect for a Christmas Getaway
We (Mother and daughter) had a perfect Christmas at 2 Stippy Stappy. The cottage is very clean, well equipped with lovely decor - and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay in St Agnes which itself is a great location. Parking is opposite the house - and if we came back from a morning out and couldn't park there then we found lots of space on British Road (bottom of Town Hill and turn right). We went out and about to Truro, St Ives, Newquay and Falmouth (swimming pool to ourselves at The Falmouth Hotel) as well as exploring St Agnes walks and Wheal Coates on an extremely blustery day.
Can highly recommend 2 Stippy Stappy - I think it will be a great location any time of year. We feel very lucky that we were able to stay there.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a lovely and helpful review. Really glad you enjoyed your Christmas in Stippy Stappy with your daughter. A very Happy New Year to you both
Lovely Cottage in wonderful St. Agnes
Do I want to tell all the truth about our stay at Stippy Stappy?
Do I want more and more people to find this wonderful cosy place and want to enjoy this wonderful old Cottage with its warm-hearted modern interior in the middle of St. Agnes? And might overrun it?
It´s just because of my personal values to share this with all of you who read this in the future.
Stippy Stappy is just one of the loveliest and best places we have stayed for vacation ever, just a real second home.
Comfortable stay in a top location!
2 Stippy Stappy was a perfect holiday home for my husband and I plus our 18 month old. No 2 is at the top of a beautiful little street 5 mins walk into the village, about 15 to the beach. The house is really comfortable and cosy and has everything you need to set up home for a week or two! Sarah was really helpful and provided us with a travel cot and highchair ready for our arrival. We loved St Agnes and the house - already looking to go back next year!
Unique, cosy and relaxing
We had a really enjoyable stay at 2 Stippy Stappy. It was really well maintained, very clean and had all the equipment and facilities needed for a relaxing holiday. It is a unique cottage that has quite a modern feel inside but manages to keep its special features. There a also few special little touches that make it feel friendly, for example we had a fresh vase of daffodils sitting on the dinning table which smelt really nice on our arrival. Sarah was very friendly and helpful, and was very swift with correspondence.
The cottage was well situated between shops, eating places and the beach, none of which were more than a few minutes walk away. We enjoyed daily walks to the beach and visited several of the local pubs. We especially liked the Driftwood Spars, which served really good food, and ales. It also accepts children and dogs.
We would definitely recommend this to others. Thank you for a really relaxing stay.
Thank you so so much for writing this review. To us it is just wonderful when we know you have had a lovely holiday - it was so good of you to send me a text at the beginning and end of your stay to let us know all was well. To take the time to then write an online review is so very much appreciated.
Thank you again for choosing to stay at Stippy Stappy

No. 2 Stippy Stappy is just a 5 minute walk to Trevaunance Cove, a large sandy beach at the foot of St. Agnes. Perfect for families, it’s great for rock-pools, surfing, and an evening drink as the sun goes down. The beautiful National Trust beach at Chapel Porth is only 2 miles away. At low tide you can walk from Chapel to Porthtowan beach. Perranporth beach (3.5miles) is huge and family/surfer friendly, Godrevy point (13 miles) is home to seal colonys where dolphins/porpoises are often seen.
Newquay airport 35 minutes by car. Truro is 15 minutes by car and has a main line train station.
Perranporth 4.5 miles, Truro 9 miles, Newquay 12 miles, St Ives 16 miles, Falmouth 13 miles, Gardens of Heligan and Eden project 20 miles, Lands End 28 miles.
We believe Aggie has everything. It's one of the most wonderful and vibrant communities in Cornwall.
An unspoilt spot on the North Cornish coast within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site. It’s home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall and it’s got access to some stunning coast paths and walks. The town is full of independent shops, businesses and great places to eat.
No. 2 Stippy Stappy's location means you can enjoy the best food and drink St Agnes has to offer without needing to get in your car. Here’s a selection of our local favourites:
The Taphouse is lively and serves good food seven days a week.
Genki is a lovely little beach hut with a license to chill less than 5 minutes away. Smoothies, cakes, paninis, fresh salads, tapas and beer and wine are all available and the best barista coffee in St Agnes.
Driftwood Spars has open fires and stunning ale from their own award winning microbrewery just yards from Trevaunance Cove.
Schooners beach front restaurant is a relaxed restaurant with the best views over Trevaunance Cove, serving big flavour small plates and craft ales and wine
The St. Agnes Hotel is family run 17th century restaurant just a few yards away.
Taste - In the centre of St Agnes and rated very highly by our regular guests!
St Agnes Bakery has been baking fresh bread and pasties in the village since 1905. Four doors up from 2 Stippy Stappy
Cornish Pizza Company does gourmet pizzas with locally sourced toppings.
Traditional fish and chips from Fission Chips again, a few doors up from the cottage.
Self catering is simple as there’s loads of local shops to cater for what ever you need within 100m with some open until 10.30pm daily. There's the excellent Churchtown Fruit and Veg, butchers, Boots and newsagent. There is a Sainsburys, Tesco and Morrisons all within 5 miles.
If you fancy a surf lesson there’s more space to learn and enjoy surfing the beaches around here than heading up the coast to Newquay.
We are delighted to be offering a weeks stay in our cottage to the children's cancer charity, Henry's Holiday help. This charity is very close to our heart and we are happy to be able to help raise funds by offering the cottage as a holiday prize.
Parking: Like the majority of cottages in the centre of St Agnes we do not have private parking. There are four spaces on the roadside directly outside number 2. These spaces become available regularly as they are often used whilst people pop into the bakery a few doors up and generally, a space is often free. Alternatively there are many roads nearby with free parking. Our preference is Trevaunace road less than 100 yards away just before the bakers where there is a always lots of roadside parking. There is also a large free car park in the centre of the village, 2-3 mins walk from the cottage.
If roadside parking is not available directly outside the cottage there is always space to stop and unload. The cottage is on a one way street. The town of St Agnes is hilly and no 2 Stippy Stappy is located on Town Hill at the top of the row of cottages that step steeply down the hillside.
