Large Spacious Farmhouse near Bury St Edmunds - perfect for family gatherings, reunions, civilised hen parties & wedding accommodation
About Kay Barter
We have owned Nowton Lodge Farm since 2007, and in that time have completely restored it, and have been successfully renting it out as a fantastic and friendly large holiday home since 2012. It is our only holiday home and we manage everything ourselves from the bookings to the laundry and cleaning. Kay & Gary.

Long before cars it was the nightly stopover for the Colchester to Norwich leg of the London to Norwich coach, passengers staying in the Lodge Inn with the Coach House for the coach man, so has been welcoming guests for hundreds of years. It was once owned by Gainsborough Dupont, nephew of Thomas Gainsborough - unfortunately no masterpieces were found in the attic! Great Place for Group Get Together
This was a lovely old farmhouse which suits an extended family stay (like us) or group get together.
Bakery nearly next door and gate to lovely Nowton Park over the road.
Beautiful house. Would high recommend
A pleasant stay
Flexible accommodation in a nice area. Great local park for children.
Really lovely stay over Christmas. Nice country walks and a fresh bakers nearby. Very enjoyable stay for a family Christmas
So glad you had a lovely Christmas.
very good for family and friends
large home, providing accommodation for a large group. There are plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas in the TV room. The dining table provides good room at meal times or playing games. A well equipped kitchen.
Having spent a cosy weekend with all the family here just before Xmas 2013, we remembered that the house had a nice size garden that we could use for a summer party. BBQ's & Picnic tables there meant we only needed to bring food, drink, pergola, deck-chairs, speakers, & of course some silly games.
We had a fantastic stay! I would highly recommend the Lodge as an all year round perfect place for large family & friends get-togethers. Just one note - this is a rural, listed building so don't be daft & expect en-suite's & no spiders.
Thank you for the review Ian, and so glad you had a great 2nd stay with us for the Birthday celebrations during this amazing summer we are having.
