About Mick & Jo Jones
We consider ourselves privileged to own these grade 2 listed cottages, one of which was built in 1766, in the village of Wootton Northamptonshire. Wootton village is an ancient Saxon settlement and has other village buildings dating from this time. Our properties were lived in and used by many different people and families as working homes, small holdings and stables. Notably a land agent once lived in the main cottage and collected rent from the local tenant farmers. He kept his pony and trap in the building which is now known as The Coach house. We have lived in the village all our lives and have travelled to many places in the world but always look forward to coming back home. We believe Northamptonshire is an undiscovered County and we would like to share it with others.
Mick & Jo Jones purchased this Cottage in 1992
Why Mick & Jo Jones chose Wootton
We were very lucky to have had the chance to buy this property after admiring it for many years. When we bought the property it required a great deal of TLC which has taken us over 20 years. We also had to accept the responsibility of looking after listed buildings which can be costly but also very self rewarding.
What makes this Cottage unique
We love the property because of its central location and the excellent road and rail links. We can travel in most directions and within an hour be in a different County, Village,Town, City or the surrounding countryside enjoying the differences that they all have to offer.
Cancelled bookings will not receive a refund.
Great location and charming, clean, and well-equipped cottage!
This is the second Christmas holiday in a row that we have spent at the Coach House. It provided us with a handy base to get to all of our destinations both in Northampton and beyond, as it is quick to get to major motorways.
This cozy cottage had everything that we needed for a comfortable two-week stay. Mick and Jo had it decorated for the holidays, which was a bonus. We appreciated having laundry facilities, as it saved on packing. Also, having a well-equipped kitchen allowed us to save money by cooking most of our own meals. There is a Tesco close by where we were able to purchase all of the groceries and other necessities that we were looking for. There is also a Waitrose, a restaurant, a garden center with shops, and a gas station close by.
We try very hard to please and it is great when excellent visitors like yourself take the time to write an extensive review acknowledging our cottage, facilites and location as described on our website. A big thank you for all your very kind words and we look forward to you returning to our cottage.

This cottage was very nice. It was clean well stocked and very comfortable. Would definately stay here again.
Thank you very much and hope you will visit again.
Wonderful cottage - home from home
This is a beautiful cottage, and conveniently located for our holiday. The property is very clean and well-maintained, with lots of extras which we weren't expecting, like towels, loo rolls. I cannot fault anything and we found everything we could possibly need to make our stay welcome and trouble-free.
There are several supermarkets quite close by and a handy shop in the village. We tried the local pub, the Yeoman of England, which was very good, and the Toby Carvery is always basic and reasonably priced.
I would highly recommend this cottage, and hope to return sometime.
Excellent holiday cottage.
The cottage is in a good location for exploring and in a quiet spot away from the main roads. It is very well equipped, spacious, warm and extremely clean. The owner is welcoming and on hand if the need arises. For the artistically inclined, 78 Derngate, the fascinating Charles Rennie Mackintosh house, is an easy bus trip away. Highly recommended as a destination for your holiday.
The people who own it, Mick and Jo are brilliant down to earth people.
The cottage id a beautiful wee thing, everything you could possibly want. It's just FANTASTIC. I hate to say that really because you all might book the place and I won't be able to book it again.......DOH !
Still, credit where credit is due !!!! I've stayed in cottages and apartments throughout France, Greece, Spain, Italy, Scotland, England and Switzerland.......and this is the BEST!
Last minute booking to cover whilst builders in, lovely location, every amenity required, everything you would need for a short or longer stay. Mick and Jo were very flexible with booking and did everything to accommodate us.
We are situated just a few minutes drive from junction 15 of the M1 motorway and Northampton town centre. We have a public bus stop outside the cottage so very easy to get around using public transport.
The cottage has excellent road, bus and rail links to enable the exploration of the surrounding Counties of Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes. Northampton train station can get you to the centre of London or Birmingham within the hour. However staying local Northamptonshire has plenty to offer Stoke Bruerne, Silverstone, Sulgrave Manor, Canons Ashby, Lamport Hall and Steam Railway, Battle of Naseby and lots more.
There are many local mini supermarkets and a 24 hour Tesco just a few minutes drive away. You can walk or drive and discover many pubs, restaurants and excellent takeaways within a very short distance. Northampton town (the largest town in Europe) is a few minutes drive away and has many major attractions, for example cinema complexes, ten pin bowling, theatres, leisure centres, restaurants, pubs and more. There are also many outdoor activities in Northamptonshire's surrounding countryside and country parks including walking, cycling, sailing as well as many other outdoor activities. There is a fantastic tree top walk in Salcey Forest which is a five minute drive away.
