About Jenette Casey
It is ideally situated so that you have the tranquility of the countryside, but also minutes away from your everyday needs, with no adjacent neighbours, surrounded by fields of Sunflowers and corn, it really is a perfect place to visit. If your requested dates are not available in the Pigeonnier, please contact me as i do offer a reduced rate for just a couple in the bigger Cottage. I am here on site if you ever need anything and can offer recommendations, but i also respect your privacy. Beautiful, Idyllic and Welcoming...Don't think about it...Just do it!
A wonderful relaxing stay, in a beautiful pigeonnier.
Set about two hundred and fifty yards off the main road, between the bastide village of Eymet ten minutes away and the medieval village of Issigeac fifteen minuted away, amid farmland with a plum orchard on one side and fields of maze on the other, the setting is idyllic.
When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Jenette. The accommodation was faultless. A cosy very well equipped lounge/diner and kitchen, attached to a wonderful pigeonnier which housed the shower room (with the softest luxurious towels ever) on the ground floor and a beautiful bedroom with a very comfortable bed, crowned with a stunning open vaulted oak beamed ceiling above. It was all spotlessly clean and Jenette also provided a welcome pack of goodies, which included half a dozen fresh eggs from her own chickens. It seemed that she had thought of everything with which to make our stay just perfect. We even had our own private shaded patio overlooking the garden with table, chairs and BBQ. The omens looked good for our two week stay.
Well, it was better than good, it was fabulous!
Even though we were there for the last two weeks of September the temperatures were still in the high twenties, peaking at over 30 degrees and suffice to say, we made use of the large swimming pool, sun loungers and parasols virtually every day, upon returning from our trips out.
We cannot recommend Labarthe Gites as a place to stay highly enough, be it in the pigeonnier or the larger gite, which was the original farm house and was also beautiful inside.
Jenette and her family Shannon and Michael were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and it was their friendliness, kindness, warmth and generosity that contributed so much to making our stay so fantastic and unforgettable.
Not only is Labarthe Gites the ideal base from which to discover the wonderful sites, food and of course wines of the Dordogne. But also the perfect place to come back to and just relax in peace tranquility and comfort.
Thanks again Jenette, Shannon and Michael (oh and your friendly lovable dog with the insatiable appetite) for making our stay in the Dordogne one to remember with fondness and a longing to return.

High Class Gite
We have stayed in several properties over the years in this area both with our children and as a couple and we would say that this is one of the best. The positives are that the Pigeonnier (where we stayed) is extremely well situated and very well equipped with good quality materials, the whole property is away from the road and, therefore quiet, the pool is larger than average and the poolside equipment very good, oh and Jeanette and her family are very friendly and helpful. The position is ideal 1/2 way between Eymet & Issegeac and within easy striking distance of other Bastides and Bergerac, not to mention the vineyards! Negatives....hard to find any, although it could do with a bigger cafetiere (yes, very picky but that's how good it was) and we could have done with the pool being open slightly longer at both ends of the day given this year's heat. All in all 5*.
Glad you enjoyed your stay... larger cafetiere in this afternoon, and apologies for the pool hours - noted... You will always be very welcome here at Labarthe
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous...
Just returned from the most amazing holiday. Stunning rural location but with all amenities required. Amazing pool with lovely views. Jenette has thought of everything. Very comfortable bed. We would highly recommend this accommodation and would love to return.
It was a pleasure meeting you both, you are welcome back anytime.
A Country Paradise
The Pigeonnaire at Le Barthe Gites was an idyllic property to explore the villages and towns of the Dordogne area. For those days which were quieter the access to a pool made everyday a holiday. The place had everything we needed and was hassle free.
Excellent stay in a beautiful area
Just returned from a lovely 2 week stay - the southern Dordogne is a beautiful area to visit. Jenette and family were very friendly and helpful and the welcome package (cheese, bread, jam, coffee, tea, wine, beer etc etc) was very gratefully received. Would definitely stay there again.
Ryanair flies to Bergerac from Liverpool, Stansted and East Midlands; Flybe flies from Birmingham, Southampton, Exeter and Edinburgh. Bordeaux is 90 minutes from Bergerac by car. Travelling by train (from London to Bordeaux, changing in Paris) costs from around £170 return on Eurostar. Bergerac is 530 miles from Calais and 360 miles from Caen.
Situated just a few minutes drive from the market towns of Eymet and Issigeac, centuries old towns and close to many famous cultural and historic attractions of the area, you are assured of both a comfortable and tranquil holiday and lots of interesting sites to visit and things to do.
Bergerac comes to life on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, when its narrow medieval streets are taken over by a market. Stock up for a picnic in the surrounding vineyards with organic tomatoes, saucisson packed with hazelnuts and fragrant strawberries. Bergerac is at the heart of affordable and welcoming wine country. It’s easy to follow a Route des Vins around the rolling vine-clad hills, discovering little-known reds such as Pécharmant and the luscious Monbazillac dessert wine.
There are supermarkets, shops, bakeries, banks and restaurants only a short drive away in the towns of Eymet, Issigeac, Castillonnes and Lauzun. Complimentary Welcome Pack: Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar, Bottled Water, Bottle of Local Wine. If you are going to be a late arrival and need additional supplies, just let us know and we will shop for you and have your provisions waiting for you on arrival. The supermarket in Eymet closes at 1pm on Sundays, open till 8pm Monday - Saturday.
