Why dorothy fitzgerald chose Lyndonville

If you are up for an adventure, Niagara Falls is 60 minutes away to view the famous falls, Cave of the Winds or take a ride on the Maid of the Mist, visit the historic Village of Lewiston's shops or take a jet boat ride on the mighty Niagara River (45 mins.) or visit Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown (35 mins). Also, 45 mins. to the south is Darien Lake Amusement Park.

What makes this cottage unique

FROM A RECENT GUEST: We spent only 4 amazing days at Dorothy's cottage, and I have returned home with such renewed energy and a sense of peacefulness that I can only imagine what a whole week would have done! The cottage is unique, creative and perfectly laid out. Though small (as advertised), the floor plan is such that my husband was able to set up music equipment in one space while I did yoga or sketched or read in another, and both of us felt like we were in our own little worlds. (I should add that yoga outside on the deck or in the grass is lovely when one typically only gets to practice in one's living room or in the confines of a studio...) When we all wanted to be cozy, that was easily arranged as well. Even our gentle but quite large goof of a dog found his own lounging area, and all was right with the world. It was so quiet - the only consistent sound was the movement of Lake Ontario lapping on the shore outside the windows, and that's always a welcome sound in my book. We ventured out to Golden Hill State Park with Sampson the Dog one morning, and he very much enjoyed the great outdoors, as did we. Otherwise we explored very little - what we were looking for was right there in our little haven: peace, quiet, being together, being creative, and, well, just being. If restoration and escape are what you seek, it's right here. I should add two things. One, Dorothy is an incredibly thoughtful home owner/renter. Everything is organized, highlighted, and laid out for you (and the welcome gift of local bread and apples was marvelous - thank you!) Second, another reviewer mentioned regretting not bringing their kayaks. I would confirm that and say if you have a paddle board or kayak that you can bring along, you would be happy you did so. The water was truly inviting, and watching others paddle past the house gave us a little kayak envy. :) Thank you, Dorothy, for sharing your beautiful space with others in this way!

Exceptional!

I can't say enough positive things about this tiny cottage! From the moment I arrived (with my little Westie), I was blown away! The setting is breathtaking, the cottage- perfection. Dorothy takes her role as a hostess seriously and it is evident before you even walk in the door. Once inside... charm galore! There's no doubt that Dorothy's artistic talent is on display- everywhere you turn there are sweet little touches, details that only someone who loves their cottage could infuse into its decor. The style of the interior is delightful- bohemian, rustic, cottage-y, unfussy, but with every amenity you could ask for. All the modern necessities, but you still know you're in a cottage. And the view...unbelievable! You can't be any closer to the water without actually being in it. The yard is fenced, making it carefree to have my little dog with me. The cottage has lovely neighbors so I did not feel isolated, but it was so quiet & peaceful. Even time spent indoors was a pleasure, discovering little details that Dorothy has scattered about. Comfy furniture & bedding, oodles of books & boardgames, kitchen ware, etc. You won't need to bring anything but food and personal care items, although there are some basics provided, in addition to a lovely welcome basket. If you like the photos, don't hesitate- it's exactly as pictured and Dorothy is the epitome of a gracious hostess! I will go back, of that I'm certain.

Very relaxing, views are 10 stars. Cutest cottage ever!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for my wife and i. Very relaxing and we loved the views especially over looking the lake. Literally your feet from the lake. The cottage has everything you need to cook. There are a few little towns close by. Lyndonville was one of them. There is a walmart 20 to 25 minutes away if you want to do grocery shopping for your family. Dorothy the owner was very helpful and easy to deal with. One of the best owners that we've dealt with. If we're ever in the area we would definitely be staying here again!!

We stayed 5 nights in this cozy cottage. It was cold outside but warm inside and had everything we needed including games and craft items for our 4 year old daughter. We will be back for sure and Dorothy is a great owner. Stay here...you won’t be disappointed.
