Castle in Colliston, Arbroath, Scotland - Secluded Location With Private grounds
About John Lansley
We currently live in Scotland where we are renovating a castle for use as a holiday rental. We have two grown up children and a beautiful new grand daughter. We have one dog who travels with us to France and up and down the country.she loves nothing better than being in the car going somewhere. We love travelling and exploring new places, we became involved in holiday homes because of our own love for self catering accommodation and to try to provide that little bit extra or bit different. Each year we try to improve the houses as much for our benefit as for our guests, as our family and ourselves enjoy the house and surrounding area.
Why John Lansley chose Arbroath
we have been overseas on and off for the past 10 years and John has now retired and we wanted a new project and this one came along. we fell in love with the area and the history of the castle

Once in a Lifetime Experience
Colliston Castle was everything it was advertised to be. Amazing property mad even better by hosts John and Sue! They are wonderful people who made our memorable vacation even better than we could have expected. Would love an opportunity to become a repeat guest!!!
Thank you, we would love to have you back. We enjoy meeting our guests and sharing the history of the castle.
VERY WELL EQUIPPED AND COMFORTABLE BUILDING. SO MANY ROOMS IT IS EASY TO LOSE YOURSELF!
10 ADULTS AND 5 CHILDREN AND WE STILL WERE NOT FALLING OVER EACH OTHER - SPACIOUS! GREAT GROUNDS FOR THE CHILDREN, WITH A WENDY HOUSE AND TOYS SUPPLIED.
THE WELCOME CAKE WENT DOWN VERY WELL. MANY THANKS TO SUE & JOHN FOR AN UNFORGETABLE FAMILY GET-TOGETHER IN AN OUTSTANDING SETTING.
Much anticipated holiday in a castle did not disappoint. Fourteen of us - three generations- loved the romanticism, the space and the comfort. It was always warm, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, and with multiple cookers, dishwashers and fridges, plus oodles of cutlery and crockery, catering was a breeze. We also loved the garden and grounds, with its huge drifts of daffodils and stately trees.
Another fabulous family weekend at the Castle.
This is the third time we have been to the Castle - it’s becoming an annual event in our family. The property is spacious, comfortable and perfect for a family gathering. Plenty of large rooms for everyone to gather in but also lots of places to retreat to if someone wants a bit of peace and quiet. Sue and John are lovely hosts and couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful. We are already planning our next visit!
Great 3 days away, the castle is massive with plenty of room and great spaces to relax, the beds are so comfortable.
Hot tub was well used and the kitchen is very well equipped.
We had an awesome stay here. The rooms were really comfortable, and the stove in the lounge kept us cosy through the cold weather. A great location for our family get together!
The place really felt like a home, and y the end of our stay we managed to get around without getting lost!
Thank you for a really lovely weekend!

Harbour grill provides excellent food and gives us a discount for our guests. Otherwise good cheap food available at the pubs in Arbroath. High tea at the Colliston Inn recommended but you need to book even for small groups.
