Deep in the heart of Norfolk, less than two hours from London and within easy reach of the North Norfolk coast, this beautifully appointed holiday home is an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy life. This property is self-contained and makes up half of this spacious barn-style building (the other side is not rented out but sometimes used by the owners). The cottage has a light-filled, well equipped kitchen and a large yet comfortable living room with a wood burning stove. Positioned in an oak wood planted by the owner's grandfather over 100 years ago you are free to venture and wander in the woodland. Only 5 miles from the market town of Swaffham and a few minutes drive to the beautiful Oxborough Hall, it is the perfect location to enjoy the very best of the English countryside.

About Sorrel Bradley

My grandmother was brought up in this area and my mother used to come here for all her holidays. All the family help with the upkeep and love spending time here.

Why Sorrel Bradley chose Beachamwell

This holiday home was built on land that has been in the family for generations. It was the plantation for the old estate and in the good old days it only had a small shed for the carpenter and his men to work. As a family we love coming to this spot and hope it will remain in the family for many generations to come. We love people to come and enjoy this peaceful locations with beautiful walks and surrounding countryside.

What makes this cottage unique

For us the best things are the space, the quiet, the wonderful walks straight out of the front door. For the children they love the climbing frame, the playhouse and the sunken trampoline. The coast is only half an hour away which makes it really easy to go on day trips and yet not have to cope with all the tourists that gather there. As a family we love the big open skies of Norfolk that you can see come rain or shine.

Bookings at other times and durations: Due to the availability of our house keeper, changeover/arrival days tend to be Saturdays but if you are interested in coming on a different day please get in touch as we can sometimes arrange for this. We generally require a 4 day minimum stay but can sometimes accommodate shorter stays in low season. Dogs: We are happy to accept up to 2 well behaved dogs but they must never be left unattended in the property. They must also be kept out of the bedrooms (we provide a stair-gate to assist with this) and kept off the furniture at all times. Outside: Large private garden with a small section laid as patio with a picnic table. Further garden furniture available as well as BBQ. Children's climbing frame, inset trampoline and outside wendy house. Shed which stores garden furniture can be locked so bikes can be stored. Some bikes also possible to borrow when requested in advance if available.

Lovely house in beautiful surroundings

We spend a very cold and foggy week here at Easter, but the weather couldn't dampen our stay. The area is beautiful, with lovely walks. If it had been warm and sunny, we would have been in heaven, sitting out in the garden, enjoying the wonderful surroundings. The house is very comfortable - we are always very relieved when the beds are super comfy, which they were. We didn't want to go home! Thank you Sorrel, we had a super stay.

Lovely property in the middle of the woods

Travel:

Downham Market train station only 8 miles with direct links to London Kings Cross.

Nearest airports Norwich, Cambridge and Stansted.

Distances:

The ancient market town of Swaffham is 5 miles with a weekly Saturday market. Oxborough with its National Trust property Oxborough Hall and excellent gastro pub is only 4 miles.

Castle Acre Priory (English Heritage) and the Norman Castle ruins of Castle Acre are 7 miles away.

The North Norfolk coast can be reached in just over 30 minutes with its award winning beaches.

Further Details:

The Brecklands can now boast a variety of excellent gastropubs and restaurants.

Normal arrival time is 3pm and departures at 10am but there can be flexibility subject to bookings..
